Congratulations on your purchase of the USB
Bridge from Enhanced Vision. The USB Bridge is
a very useful accessory to be used in conjunction
with your Enhanced Vision product(s). When used
along with the Acrobat™, Flipper™ or Max™, the
USB Bridge provides an all-in-one solution, bringing
both computer connectivity and portability for these
devices.
The USB Bridge serves as a central hub for
connecting your Enhanced Vision product to your
laptop or desktop PC using a standard, USB cable.
Featuring a built-in computer interface and included
software, the USB Bridge allows you to use your
PC while simultaneously viewing magnied, camera
based images on a single display. Built-in software
controls allow you to dynamically re-size the camera’s
display window on your desktop to either full or “split-
screen” modes to best suit your particular viewing
needs. The still-image snapshot feature allows you
to capture magnied, camera-based images on your
PC for later recall, making the USB Bridge an ideal
solution for students and working professionals.
Last but not least, the USB Bridge supplies power
to your Enhanced Vision product via the included
Lithium battery, providing two or more hours of
portable use on a single charge. The built in battery
charger (and included power supply) completes the
package, offering a convenient and fully integrated
“on-the-go” solution for people with low vision.

surfaces. No additional methods of sterilization or
cleaning are recommended or required.
There may be temporary performance degradation
of the USB Bridge when subjected to a strong mag-
netic and/or radio-frequency eld, electrostatic dis-
charge or transient electrical noise. An electrostatic
discharge (caused by static electricity) may cause
image distortion. If this happens, switch the unit off
and try moving the unit to a different location.

The Viewer application allows you to capture a still
photo (or “snapshot”) of the camera image. This is
especially useful in school or work settings, where
it may be desirable to magnify and store text that is
located on an distant object (i.e. chalkboard or dry
erase board) and later recall the image (homework
assignments, etc.). Use the following procedure to
use the Image Capture feature:
1) Focus on either a near or distant object. The object
viewed on the display will be captured as shown.
2) Press the [F5] function key on your PC keyboard.
to capture the still image. An on screen message
will appear “Taking Snapshot, Please Wait”,
followed by the standard “Save As” dialog box.
3) Select the directory in which you wish to store
the le. If desired give the snapshot a descriptive
le name. If no lename is entered, the default
timestamp lename will be used. The image will be
saved as a standard .bmp le (Windows* bitmap).
1) Press the [F6] function key on your PC keyboard.
to open a previously stored image. The standard
“Open” dialog box will appear.
2) Choose the directory in which the stored le is
located and select “Open” to view the image.
The USB Bridge viewer application can be used
in conjunction with certain third-party screen
magnication software. At the present time, the
USB Bridge has been tested to be compatible with
Dolphin* Supernova™ software.
Use the following procedure to use the USB Bridge
Viewer application along with Dolphin Supernova*:
1) Install and congure the Dolphin* Supernova™
application according to the software
documentation. Verify that installation of the
Supernova™ is successful, then exit the program.
2) Start the USB Bridge viewer application by click-

as desired within the Supernova™ application.
5) Resume normal operation of the USB Bridge
application as described earlier in this manual.

[SHIFT] + [] Video Window Divider (Right)
[SHIFT] + [] Video Window Divider (Up)

Other applications on your PC may already be as-
signed to the same Hot Keys listed above, causing a
conict. If needed, the Hot Keys can be customized
or re-assigned using the following procedure:
1) Using your mouse, right-click on the small “EV”
Viewer icon, located in the lower-right hand corner
of the Widows* system tray (near the clock).
2) Select “Hot Keys...” from the popup menu
3) Modify the hot key assignment for each function as
desired.
4) Click “OK” to save the settings and exit.
From factory default, the viewer application is set
to high-resolution (photo) viewing mode. This mode
gives the best resolution for focusing an a “xed”
image, such as a photo, single sheet of paper, or a
distant object. In this mode, maximum image clarity
is achieved by using a progressive, non-interlaced
method of image scanning.
When using the viewer application to view objects in
motion, such as when scanning text “line by line” or
when reading at higher magnication levels, changing
the viewing mode to standard resolution may
signicantly improve image quality. This will increase
the perceived sharpness of characters when reading
printed text, allowing the camera to focus more
quickly on each word. In this mode, maximum image
clarity is achieved by using an interlaced method of
image scanning.
1) Using your mouse, right-click on the small “EV”
Viewer icon, located in the lower-right hand corner
of the Widows* system tray (near the clock).
2) Select or Deselect “High Resolution Photo
Mode” from the pop-up menu, depending on the
application described above.
3) Select “Exit” to save the setting you’ve chosen.

For reference purposes, an integrated “Help” le is
included to summarize the most commonly used
functions of USB Bridge Viewer Application. Use the
following procedure to access the “Help” le:
1) Using your mouse, right-click on the small “EV”
Viewer icon, located in the lower-right hand corner

2) Select “Help” from the popup menu. The “Help”
le will be displayed on-screen.
3) Close the “Help” le window to exit.
For reference purposes, the current version of
your Enhanced Viewer application can easily be
displayed. This information may be useful should you
need to contact technical support. Use the following
procedure to display the “About Viewer” window:
1) Using your mouse, right-click on the small “EV”
Viewer icon, located in the lower-right hand corner
of the Widows* system tray (near the clock).
2) Select “About Viewer...” from the popup menu.
The current software version will be displayed.
3) Click on the “OK” button to exit.
• The AC adaptor included with the USB Bridge can supply
power to your compatible Enhanced Vision product. This
is the preferred method of powering the unit when using
the system near an AC (mains) wall outlet or when using
the system at home.
• Alternately, the lithium battery included with the USB
Bridge can be used to supply power to your compatible
Enhanced Vision product. This method of powering the
unit is designed for using the system away from an AC
wall outlet or when using the system in a portable setting
(school or ofce). In order to take full advantage of the
portable features of this device, it will be necessary to fully
charge the battery prior to using the system. Please follow
the procedure described on the next page.
• Once the battery has fully charged (about 2 hours), the
lithium battery can power your Enhanced Vision product
for 2 hours or more. Actual usage times may vary de-
pending on the specic type of device connected and the
total battery life remaining. See pages 22-23 for more
details.
• When using the system with AC power, it is recommend-
ed to leave the battery attached to the USB charging sta-
tion. Doing so will ensure that a continual charge is main-
tained upon the battery, allowing you to use the system in
a portable setting whenever desired. It is not possible to
overcharge the battery. It is recommended to remove the
battery from the charging station only when storing/trans-
porting the system or when not using the system for one
week or more.
