Please read this entire guide (both the installation and operation portions) thoroughly prior to installation. Pay careful
attention to all safety warnings and notices.
As a professional installer you have an obligation to know the product better than the customer. We cannot overemphasize
the importance of proper installation.
It is the installer’s responsibility to properly install the unit. Installation must be in conformance with all applicable local and/or
national codes.
Often during installation or repair it is possible to place yourself in a position which is more hazardous than when the unit is in
operation.
It is your responsibility to install the system safely and to know it well enough to be able to instruct a customer in its safe use.
The precautions listed in this Installation Manual are intended as supplemental to existing practices. However, if there is a
direct conflict between existing practices and the content of this manual, the precautions listed here take precedence.

WARNING
KEEP BOX AND UNIT UPRIGHT AT ALL TIMES
The unit must be kept upright at all times. Tipping the unit,
placing it on its side or back can damage the welds to the
compressor and cause the unit to leak.
The unit is equipped with an anti-tip sensor. If the sensor shows
the unit was tipped the warranty is void. When certifying the
unit, a factory technician will check this sensor and if it shows
tipped, the unit will be declared as unfit, and will need to be
replaced.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE PLACE THE
UNIT IN ANY POSITION OTHER THAN UPRIGHT.
DOING SO WILL VOID THE WARRANTY.

EXTERIOR LOUVERS
It is of utmost importance to use external louvers that are approved. First, the louver must have adequate free area, second,
the louver must have a low airflow resistance with minimal pressure drops. Finally, the duct/louver must be water-resistant
and have no potential to leak inside the wall assembly.
Several louvers have been tested in our lab to ensure they work well with the HPAC 2.0. If you need advice on which louver to
choose please contact your sales representative. Using a non-approved louver may cause the unit to fail and will void the
warranty. Only used approved louvers.
When installing the louvers
• Make sure that outside there are no obstacles that can block the airflow from the louver. There must be a least 40”
free and clear in front of the louvers.
• Properly follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installation.
• Seal the louver assembly properly outside to ensure that no water will penetrate.
• Seal the sleeve tightly to the wallboard inside the room. If not completely sealed, the powerful fan can suck
insulation from inside the wall into the unit.
• Leave 1/8 of an inch of the pipe/sleeve protruding into the room so that the pipe pushes into the EPDM fabric on
the back of the unit, creating a tight seal from the pipe to the unit.
NOTICE
Make sure to properly install and seal the wall penetrations. Failing to
properly seal can cause damage to unit and water damage to the
home.
NOTICE
Use only the louvers that are approved by Ephoca. Using any grille
assembly other than approved grilles may cause water damage
and/or performance issues and will void the warranty. Leave 1/8 of
an inch of the pipe/sleeve protruding into the room.
NOTICE
Sometimes walls are not level and there can be a gap between the
sleeve and the back of the unit. Check by turning o the lights and
see if there is any light seeping through the back of the unit. If there is,
add insulation tape around the openings to create a tight seal.

INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
For optimum performance and to avoid malfunctions or dangerous situations, the location of the unit must meet the
following criteria:
• Maintain the minimum clearances as indicated in the diagram on the right.
• On the bracket the two screws on the right and left edges as well as at least four screws in the middle must be
secured to the wall. At least 2 of the screws on the bracket must be axed to wood or cement, the other four
holes may be fastened to the drywall using TOGGLER® brand, SNAPTOGGLE® Heavy-Duty Toggle Bolts model
number BB or BBS in 1/4”. Do not use any other fastener.
• The anti-lift bracket must be fastened to a wood stud or other load bearing material. Alternatively, it may be
fastened to the drywall using TOGGLER® brand, SNAPTOGGLE® Heavy-Duty Toggle Bolt model number BB or
BBS in 1/4”. Do not use any other fastener.
• When used exclusively to heat, avoid “high wall” installation in rooms where the ceiling is greater than 10 feet high.
• Make sure 1/8” of the of the pipe/sleeve extends into the room so that the unit will be tight against the pipe/sleeve.
• Make sure that inside the room nothing obstructs the air flow to the return air grille and the supply air louver.
• Make sure than on the outside nothing obstructs the louvers (plants and leaves, paneling, shutters, dense grates
or grids, etc.)
• The unit must be installed against an exterior wall or perpendicular to an outside wall using a special order Side
wall installation kit.
• Check that there are no structures or systems (beams, pillars, hydraulic pipes, electrical cables etc.) in the part of
the wall that must be drilled.
• Do not install the unit directly above another electrical appliance (TV, radio, fridge, etc.) or above a source of heat.

The only clearance the HPAC 2.0 requires is 3.5” on the top of the unit to the ceiling so that the air can be returned to the unit
through the grille on the top.
We highly recommend as close to 8” as possible from the top of the unit to the ceiling for ease of changing the filter and
accessing the unit.
The HPAC should not touch the wall on either side as it will vibrate slightly during operations and that will create noise, even
1/2” will suce. However, we highly recommend 2.5” on the side for easier access.
We recommend mounting HPAC 2.0 at least 1” from the floor and closer to 2” to allow the floor to be cleaned under the unit.

SIDE WALL KIT
When it’s not possible to mount the unit directly on an exterior wall, you can mount the unit perpendicular to an exterior wall
using our optional side wall kit.
This kit, which gets installed inside the wall includes additional fans which assist the air through the additional bend. The kit is
available in a right side or left side application. Contact your dealer if you require this kit.

OCCUPANCY SENSOR CONNECTION
HPAC 2.0 can be connected to an occupancy sensor such as; open window contact, on/o remote, infrared presence sensors,
enabling badge, etc. to activate and deactivate the unit.
When the contact opens (very low voltage, connected to a free non-live contact) the unit is placed in standby mode and CP
displays on the screen (note, CP stand for Contatto Presenza - Contact Present in Italian)
Use only double insulated cable.
Note: For the versions with auxiliary electric heat resistance, in order to prevent internal overheating, do not disconnect voltage
from the unit abruptly! Use the CP contact that places the unit in standby mode, guaranteeing the required postoperative
ventilation.

STEP 1 Attach the mounting template to the wall with tape. Ensure that the bracket will be 100% perfectly level.
STEP 2 Drill the holes for approved vents in accordance with the specifi cations of the grille style you are using.
Make sure 1/8” of the of the pipe/sleeve extends into the room so that the unit will be tight against the
pipe/sleeve.
STEP 3 A x the wall mount bracket with two screws on the right and left edges as well as at least four screws
in the middle. At least 2 of the screws on the bracket must be a xed to wood or cement, the other two
holes may be fastened to the drywall using TOGGLER® brand, SNAPTOGGLE® Heavy-Duty Toggle Bolts
model number BB or BBS in 1/4”. Do not use any other fastener.
STEP 4 If using an external drain for condensate, drill a hole as indicated on the template for the condensate
to drain outside. Make sure to drill the hole at a 3 degree downward angle.
STEP 5 If the anti-lifting bracket hole does not line up with a stud, it may be fastened to the drywall using
TOGGLER® brand, SNAPTOGGLE® Heavy-Duty Toggle Bolts model number BB or BBS in 1/4”. Do not use
any other fastener.
STEP 6 If hardwiring the unit make sure the junction box and appropriate connections are located in the
electrical connection area.
WARNING
LEAK POTENTIAL
The unit must be 100% level on both horizontal and vertical axises.
If the unit is not perfectly level, there is a likelihood the unit will leak.
Use a digital level. We will not certify a unit that is not 100% level.
PREPARATION
Once the location for the unit has been determined following all the requirements follow
these steps:

CONDENSATE DRAIN OPTIONS
HPAC 2.0 is equipped with a pump and spray head which sprays the collected condensate on to the heat exchanger coil in
cooling mode. This evaporates the condensate, eliminating the need for a condensate drain. In heating mode, or if used to
cool in low ambient temperatures (below 73.5°F) this procedure is not feasible and therefore a condensate drain is required.
Determine whether the condensate drain will be located:
In-the-wall Drain: This is the best type of drain where it is installed by a plumber inside the wall
Direct exterior Drain: This is the easiest type of drain where the condensate drips straight outside.
Note: The unit does not drain the condensate directly into the drain pipe, but rather it collects into a lightly heated collection
pan (to eliminate icing up of the liquid) where a solenoid valve controls the flow of the condensate from the internal collection
tray to the drain pipe once the maximum level has been reached.
STEP 1 Have licensed plumber install a PVC drain pipe with a minimum 3/4” inside diameter and a 45 Degree
fitting at the top. The mouth of the 45 degree fitting should be lined up with the condensate hole on the
template
STEP 2 Test the drain by pouring water into it
STEP 3 Cut down the attached rubber drain pipe, so that at least 4 inches of rubber pipe will fit inside the
internal PVC drain.
STEP 4 Gently push the attached rubber drain inside the internal PVC drain
STEP 5 Check to make sure that the rubber pipe is snugly inside the PVC pipe and it will not “pop out”.
NOTICE When connecting the condensate drain, be careful not to squeeze the
rubber hose
IN-THE-WALL CONDENSATE DRAIN
For optimum performance and aesthetics, when possible use an internal wall drain.

DIRECT EXTERNAL DRAIN
Make sure to check applicable local laws if this is type of drainage is permissible. Check that the expelled
water does will cause any damage or problems to people or objects. During winter, this water may create
sheets of ice outside.
Drainage is by gravity only. For this reason, it is essential that the discharge drain pipe have a minimum 3%
slope downwards at every point. The pipe can be rigid or flexible with a minimum ¾” diameter.
Note: If the line flows into a sewer system, it is necessary to add a siphon before placing the pipe into the
sewer drain. This siphon must be placed at least 12” under the drain pipe.
NOTICE When connecting the condensate drain, be careful not to squeeze the
rubber hose
STEP 1 Make sure hole is set a 3 degree downwards angle
STEP 2 Place the rubber drain pipe inside the hole
STEP 3 Wrap the portion of rubber drain pipe located inside the room with % inside diameter anti-
condensation insulating material.
STEP 4 Properly seal the pipe penetration using best practices based on the application and
materials.

HIGH WALL CONFIGURATION
HPAC 2.0 can be installed close to the floor or near the ceiling (high wall). The unit is factory configured for floor and high wall
installation, where the air flow is directed upwards. This works well for heating and cooling in floor installations and cooling
only in high wall installations (coanda eect).
If installing as a high wall and using for heating as well as cooling, the direction of the air flow must be modified by adjusting
the position of the air louver, so that air blows downwards instead of upwards.
STEP 1 Disconnect the power
STEP 2 Remove the upper grill
STEP 3 Remove the front cover panel by unscrewing the two
screws in the upper part
STEP 4 Position the bottom cover and install it with the screws
supplied. When mounting the unit on the upper part of
the wall, order the optional bottom cover decorative kit
code GB0737.
