Safety Instructions
●Proper configuration of all passwords and other security settings is the responsibility of the
installer and/or end-user.
●In the use of the product, you must be in strict compliance with the electrical safety
regulations of the nation and region. Please refer to technical specifications for detailed
information.
●Input voltage should meet both the SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage) and the Limited Power
Source with 100~240 VAC or 12 VDC according to the IEC60950-1 standard. Please refer to
technical specifications for detailed information.
●Do not connect several devices to one power adapter as adapter overload may cause
over-heating or a fire hazard.
●Please make sure that the plug is firmly connected to the power socket.
●If smoke, odor or noise rise from the device, turn off the power at once and unplug the power
cable, and then please contact the service center.
Preventive and Cautionary Tips
Before connecting and operating your device, please be advised of the following tips:
●Ensure unit is installed in a well-ventilated, dust-free environment.
●Unit is designed for indoor use only.
●Keep all liquids away from the device.
●Ensure environmental conditions meet factory specifications.
●Ensure unit is properly secured to a rack or shelf. Major shocks or jolts to the unit as a result of
dropping it may cause damage to the sensitive electronics within the unit.
●Use the device in conjunction with an UPS if possible.
●Power down the unit before connecting and disconnecting accessories and peripherals.
●A factory recommended HDD should be used for this device.
●Improper use or replacement of the battery may result in hazard of explosion. Replace with
the same or equivalent type only. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions
provided by the battery manufacturer.

1.2 Rear Panel
Purpose:
The interfaces of DS-96000NI-I16 and DS-96000NI-I24 are the same. The interfaces of
DS-96000NI-I16/H and DS-96000NI-I24/H are the same. We take the example of DS-96000NI-I16/H
series to introduce the rear panel.
The difference between DS-96000NI-I16 and DS-96000NI-I16/H is DS-96000NI-I16/H contains the
decoding board, that is the module marked as 13 in following figure.

Chapter 2 Installation and Connections
2.1 Installation
During installation of the NVR:
●Use brackets for rack mounting.
●Ensure ample room for audio and video cables.
●When routing cables, ensure that the bend radius of the cables are no less than five times than
its diameter.
●Connect the alarm cable.
●Allow at least 2cm (≈0.75-inch) of space between racks mounted devices.
●Ensure the NVR is grounded.
●Environmental temperature should be within the range of -10°C to +55°C (+14°F to +131°F).
●Environmental humidity should be within the range of 10% to 90%.
2.2 Hard Disk Installation
Before you start:
Disconnect the power from the NVR before installing a hard disk drive (HDD). A factory
recommended HDD should be used for this installation.
Tools Required: Screwdriver.
2.2.1 DS-96000NI-I16(/H) Series
Purpose:
The following section introduces the HDD installation for the DS-96000NI-I16(/H) series NVR.
Step 1 Fasten the hard disk mounting handle to the hard disk with screws.

Step 2 Insert the key and turn in clockwise direction to open the panel lock.

Step 3 Press the buttons on the panel of two sides and open the front panel.

Step 4 Insert the hard disk along the slot until it is placed into position.

Step 5 Repeat the above steps to install other hard disks onto the NVR. After having finished the
installation of all hard disks, close the front panel and lock it with the key again.

2.2.2 DS-96000NI-I24(/H) Series
Purpose:
The following section introduces the HDD installation for the DS-96000NI-I24(/H) series NVR.
Step 1 Unlock the front panel with the panel key.

Step 2 To remove the cover from front panel, operate following steps:
1) Slightly pull the cover out of the device along the direction arrow ① and make it a
little above the left handle. The angle between the cover and the front panel must be
within 10°.
2) Pull the front panel out of the device along the direction arrow ②.
Handle with care to avoid damage.

Step 3 Press the blue button to pop up the handle and hold the handle and pull the hard disk box
out of the slot.

Step 4 Fix the hard disk in the hard disk box.
1) Place a hard disk in the hard disk box. The SATA interface must face the hard disk box
bottom.
2) Adjust the hard disk position. Ensure the hard disk rear aligning with hard disk
bottom.
3) Use a screwdriver to fasten the four screws into the screw holes that in both sides.

Step 5 Push the hard disk box back into the slot.

Step 6 Press the handle until you hear a click. Thus to fix the hard disk box. Repeat above steps to
install the rest hard disk boxes.

Step 7 Install the cover back to front panel. And lock it with panel key.

2.3 Connections
2.3.1 Alarm Input Wiring
The alarm input is an open/closed relay. To connect the alarm input to the device, use the
following diagram.
If the alarm input is not an open/close relay, please connect an external relay between the alarm
input and the device.

2.3.2 Alarm Output Wiring
To connect to an alarm output (AC or DC load), use the following diagram:

For DC load, the jumpers can be used within the limit of 12V/1A safely.
To connect an AC load, jumpers should be left open (you must remove the jumper on the
motherboard in the NVR). Use an external relay for safety (as shown in the figure above).
There are 4 jumpers (JP6, JP9, JP10, and JP11) on the motherboard, each corresponding with one
alarm output. By default, jumpers are connected. To connect an AC load, jumpers should be
removed.
Example:
If you connect an AC load to the alarm output 3 of the NVR, then you must remove the JP 3
jumper.
2.3.3 Use Alarm Connectors
To connect alarm devices to the NVR:
Step 1 Disconnect pluggable block from the ALARM IN /ALARM OUT terminal block.
Step 2 Unfasten stop screws from the pluggable block, insert signal cables into slots and fasten stop
screws. Ensure signal cables are tight.
Step 3 Connect pluggable block back into terminal block.

To connect a controller to the NVR:
Step 1 Disconnect pluggable block from the KB terminal block.
Step 2 Unfasten stop screws from the KB D+, D- pluggable block, insert signal cables into slots and
fasten stop screws. Ensure signal cables are tightly connected.
Step 3 Connect Ta on controller to D+ on terminal block and Tb on controller to D- on terminal
block. Fasten stop screws.
Step 4 Connect pluggable block back into terminal block.
Make sure both the controller and NVR are grounded.

the chart are estimated by formulas and may have some deviation from actual value.

Chapter 3 Menu Operation
3.1 Start up Your Device
Proper startup and shutdown procedures are crucial to expanding the life of the NVR.
To start your device:
Step 1 Check the power supply is plugged into an electrical outlet. It is HIGHLY recommended that
an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) be used in conjunction with the device. The Power
button on the front panel should be red, indicating the device is receiving the power.
Step 2 Press the POWER button on the front panel. The Power LED should turn blue. The unit will
begin to start.
After the device starts up, the wizard will guide you through the initial settings, including modifying
password, date and time settings, network settings, HDD initializing, and recording.
3.2 Activate Your Device
Purpose:
For the first-time access, you need to activate the device by setting an admin password. No
operation is allowed before activation. You can also activate the device via Web Browser, SADP or
Client Software.
Step 1 Input the same password in the text field of Create New Password and Confirm New
Password.
You can click the to show the characters input.

We highly recommend you create a strong password of your own choosing (Using a minimum of 8
characters, including at least three of the following categories: upper case letters, lower case
letters, numbers, and special characters.) in order to increase the security of your product. And we
recommend you reset your password regularly, especially in the high security system, resetting the
password monthly or weekly can better protect your product.
Step 2 In the IP Camera Activation text field, enter the password to activate the IP camera (s)
connected to the device.
Step 3 Optionally, check the Export GUID to export the GUID for future password resetting.
Step 4 Click OK to save the password and activate the device.

After the device is activated, you should properly keep the password.
●
When you have enabled the Export GUID, continue to export the GUID file to the USB flash
driver for the future password resetting.
You can duplicate the password to the IP cameras that are connected with default protocol.
3.3 Configure Unlock Pattern for Login
For the admin user, you can configure the unlock pattern for device login.
