Thank you for purchasing the Etón FRX4. We want you
to thoroughly enjoy the use of this product. To take
advantage of its many excellent and unique features,

KEY OPERATIONS
POWER
Press POWER button to turn on the unit and enter
[Radio mode], press again to turn off.
Selecting Radio BAND
In [Radio mode], press BAND button to choose WB, FM
or AM listening. Scroll up/down on tuning buttons to
tune into your radio station. To select WB station for
your area. Scroll up/down tuning buttons until you hear
weather information for your area.
VOL / VOL
Press VOL / to increase/decrease volume level, press
and hold to speed up adjustment.
TUNING / TUNING
In [Radio mode], press TUNING / to adjust frequency,
press and hold it to auto tune into the next available
station.
LIGHT Operation
Press LIGHT button once to turn on the ashlight,
press it again to turn off. When the ashlight is on, hold
down the LIGHT button to dim/brighten the ashlight.
Press the LIGHT button twice quickly to turn on the red
emergency lights, press it twice again to turn off.
CELL Phone Charging
Plug your phone’s USB charging cable into the USB
out port on the FRX4 and plug the other end into your
phone. Press the CELL phone charger button to start
charging, a USB symbol appears in the display. Press it
again to stop charging and the symbol will disappear.
Note: Radio performance may be degraded while using the USB output charging
feature. The audio from weak radio stations may no longer come in clearly.

FRX4 POWER OPTIONS
1000 mAh Lithium Battery
Charge the lithium battery via the included micro-
USB cable. Both the solar panel and the crank will
automatically charge to the lithium battery.
Solar Charging
When placed in sunlight, it will automatically start
charging the lithium battery. Battery light indicator will
show unit is charging. Fully charges the battery in 5-6
hours.
Crank Charging
Crank for 4 minutes to get 1 minute of talk time on most
smart phones or 10-15 minutes of radio time.
AAA Batteries
Takes 3 AAA batteries. Use a coin to open battery
compartment. Insert as shown on the battery holder and
re-seal compartment.
Note: FRX4 will run on Lithium battery until it runs out and then will automatically
switch to AAA batteries if loaded.
SETTING WEATHERBAND ALERT
Tune to WB for your location and press and hold the
BAND button. ‘Alert’ will appear in the display and the
audio will turn off. The radio will continue to monitor
your WB station and will activate the audio if an alert is
issued. Press the band button again to turn off the Alert.
Note: NOAA does a test alert every Wednesday between 10 am and noon,
regardless of your location. For more information please go to:

SETTING CLOCK
1. With the unit off, press and hold BAND button until
the clock begins to ash.
2. Adjust the hours using the VOL / buttons.
3. Adjust the minutes using the TUNING / buttons.
4. If no buttons are pressed within 5 seconds the unit
will return to normal operations
SETTING ALARM
1. With unit off press and hold the BAND button until
the clock begins to ash.
2. Press and release BAND button again, a bell icon will
appear in the display.
3. Adjust the hours using the VOL / buttons.
4. Adjust the minutes using the TUNING / buttons.
5. If no buttons are pressed within 5 seconds the unit
will return to normal operation.
ACTIVATING THE ALARM
1. With the unit off, press and release the BAND button,
a bell icon will appear on the display.
Silencing the Alarm
2. Press any button on the radio.
TROUBLE-SHOOTING
If the unit becomes unresponsive, press the RESET
button with a paper clip to reset. If you are having
further problems please contact us.

SERVICE FOR YOUR PRODUCT
To obtain service for your product, we recommend
rst contacting an Etón service representative at 800-
872-2228 US, 800-637-1648 Canada or (650) 903-
3866 for problem determination and trouble-shooting.
If further service is required, the technical staff will
instruct how to proceed based on whether the radio is
still under warranty or needs non-warranty service.
WARRANTY
If your product is still in warranty and the Etón service
representative determines that warranty service
is needed, a return authorization will be issued and
instructions for shipment to an authorized warranty
repair facility. Do not ship your radio back without
obtaining the return authorization number.
NON-WARRANTY
If your product is no longer under warranty and requires
service our technical staff will refer you to the nearest
repair facility that will be able to best handle the repair.
For service outside of North America, please refer
to the distributor information included at time of
purchase/receipt.

OPÉRATIONS PRINCIPALES
Alimentation
Appuyer le bouton d’alimentation pour allumer l’appareil
et activer le mode [Radio], appuyer à nouveau pour
l’éteindre.
Choisir une fréquence radio
En mode [Radio], appuyer sur le bouton ‘BAND’ pour
écouter soit le canal météo (WB), soit les fréquences FM
ou AM. Choisir vos stations en appuyant sur les boutons
TUNING. Pour choisir le canal météo (WB) dans votre
région, Appuyer sur les boutons TUNING jusqu’à ce que
vous entendiez le canal météorologique de votre région.
VOL / VOL
Appuyer sur VOL / pour augmenter/diminuer le
niveau du volume sonore, appuyer et maintenir pour un
réglage plus rapide.
TUNING / TUNING
En mode [Radio], appuyer sur TUNING / pour ajuster
la fréquence d’écoute, appuyer et maintenir pour sauter
directement à la station de radio suivante.
Utilisation de l’ÉCLAIRAGE
Appuyer une fois sur le bouton LIGHT pour allumer la
lampe de poche, appuyer à nouveau pour l’éteindre.
Quand la lampe de poche est allumée, appuyer et
maintenir le bouton LIGHT pour régler son intensité
lumineuse. Appuyer rapidement deux fois sur le bouton
LIGHT pour activer la balise de détresse rouge, appuyer
deux fois à nouveau pour la désactiver.
Recharge d’un téléphone portable
Brancher le câble USB dans le port USB du FRX4 et l’autre
extrémité dans votre smartphone. Appuyer sur le bouton CELL
de recharge de smartphone pour démarrer le chargement,

un symbole USB apparaîtra dans l’afchage. Appuyer CELL à
nouveau pour stopper la recharge et le symbole disparaîtra.
Remarque : La performance radio est susceptible d’être dégradée lorsque le
système de charge USB est utilisé. L’audio risque de perdre en netteté pour les
stations dont le signal est faible.
OPTIONS D’ALIMENTATION DU FRX 4
Pile au Lithium 1000 mAh
Recharger la pile au lithium via le port micro-USB et son
câble inclus. Le panneau solaire et la manivelle vont aussi
tous deux recharger la pile au lithium.
Recharge solaire
Lorsque le FRX4 est placé en plein soleil, il commencera à
recharger automatiquement sa pile au lithium. Le voyant
lumineux d’alimentation indiquera que l’unité est en
charge. Se recharge complètement en 5-6 heures.
Recharge manuelle
Tourner la manivelle pendant 4 minutes pour obtenir une minute
de temps de conversation pour la plupart des smartphones ou
10-15 minutes d’écoute radio.
Piles AAA
Utilise 3 piles AAA. Utiliser une pièce de monnaie pour
ouvrir le compartiment à piles. Insérer les piles comme
indiqué sur le couvercle, puis refermer le compartiment.
Note : le FRX4 fonctionnera sur sa pile au lithium jusqu’à l’épuiser, puis s’alimentera
automatiquement depuis les piles AAA, si elles sont installées.
RÉGLAGE MODE D’ALERTE MÉTÉO
Une fois sur le canal météo (WB) de votre emplacement,
appuyer et maintenir le bouton ‘BAND’. ‘Alert’ s’afchera
sur l’écran et le son se coupera automatiquement. Le
FRX4 continue de contrôler le canal météo et réactivera

le son en cas d’alerte sérieuse. Appuyer à nouveau le
bouton ‘BAND’ pour désactiver ce mode d’alerte.
Note : Le NOAA effectue un test d’alerte tous les mercredis entre 10h00 du
matin et midi, quel que soit votre emplacement. Pour plus d’informations, veuillez

RÉGLAGE DE L’HEURE
1. Avec l’appareil éteint, appuyer et maintenir le bouton
BAND jusqu’à ce que l’heure clignote.
2. Ajuster les heures avec les boutons VOL / .
3. Ajuster les minutes avec les boutons TUNING / .
4. Si aucun bouton n’est actionné pendant 5 secondes
l’appareil revient à son mode de fonctionnement
normal.
RÉGLAGE DE L’ALARME
1. Avec l’appareil éteint, appuyer et maintenir le bouton
BAND jusqu’à ce que l’heure clignote.
2. Appuyer et relâcher le bouton BAND à nouveau, un
symbole ‘cloche’ s’afchera sur l’écran.
3. Ajuster les heures de l’alarme avec les boutons VOL

4. Ajuster les minutes de l’alarme avec les boutons

5. Si aucun bouton n’est actionné pendant 5 secondes
l’appareil revient à son mode de fonctionnement
normal.

1. Avec l’appareil éteint, appuyer et relâcher le bouton
BAND, un symbole ‘cloche’ s’afchera sur l’écran.
Stopper une alarme en cours
2. Appuyer sur n’importe quel bouton de la radio.

DÉPANNAGE
Si l’appareil venait à ne plus répondre, appuyer sur le
bouton RESET à l’aide d’un trombone. Le FRX4 sera alors
réinitialisé. Si le problème persistait, veuillez alors nous
contacter directement.

Etón, en premier lieu, au 800-872-2228 (USA), 800-637-
1648 (Canada) ou [phone] an de déterminer
le problème et pouvoir le dépanner à distance. Dans le
cas de nécessité de réparations supplémentaires, le
personnel technique vous indiquera la marche à suivre,
sachant que la radio sera ou non encore sous la garantie,
et si le service sera donc pris en charge.
SOUS GARANTIE
Si votre produit est toujours sous garantie et que
le personnel technique d’Etón détermine que des
réparations sont nécessaires et couvertes par la
garantie, une autorisation de renvoi vous sera accordée
ainsi que les instructions pour renvoyer votre appareil à
un centre ofciel de réparation. Ne pas expédier votre
radio sans avoir obtenu un numéro d’autorisation de
renvoi.
SANS GARANTIE
Si votre produit n’est plus sous garantie et que des
réparations sont nécessaires, notre personnel technique
vous indiquera le centre de réparation le plus proche qui
pourra gérer au mieux les réparations nécessaires.

FUNCIONES PRINCIPALES
ENCENDIDO
Presione el botón de Encendido para prender el
dispositivo e ingresar al [modo Radio], presione
nuevamente para apagarlo.
Selección de la BANDA de radio
En el [modo Radio], presione el botón de BANDA para
elegir una banda de onda, FM o AM. Deslícese hacia
arriba o hacia abajo con los botones para sintonizar la
estación de radio deseada. Para seleccionar una banda
de estación de su área, deslícese hacia arriba o hacia
abajo con los botones hasta que escuche la información
climática de su área.
VOL / VOL
Presione VOL / para aumentar o disminuir el nivel del
volumen, presione y mantenga para acelerar el ajuste.
TUNING / TUNING
En [modo Radio] presione TUNING / para ajustar la
frecuencia, presione y mantenga para autosintonizar la
siguiente estación disponible.
Funcionamiento de la LUZ
Presione el botón de LUZ una vez para prender la
linterna, presiónelo nuevamente para apagarla. Cuando
la linterna esté prendida, mantenga presionado el botón
de LUZ para aumentar o disminuir el brillo de la linterna.
Presione el botón de LUZ dos veces rápidamente para
prender las luces rojas de emergencia, presiónelo dos
veces nuevamente para apagarlas.
