T RNING THE AXIS ON/OFF
The A X IS is powered by 3 AA A b atte ries (BATT) and
the recharg eable b a tte ry (DYN) th a t plugs inside th e
battery com partm ent.
To turn th e rad io on , press th e BATT bu tton o r the DYN
button (fro n t rig h t sid e) and then press POW ER (b u tto n
with th e circle and vertic al lin e ).
THE POWER B TTON
The POWER button is located on th e fro n t right side o f th e
radio and has a circle w ith th e vertical lin e through it. Press
this button to turn th e rad io on.
VOL ME CONTROL
Turn the control knob, labeled VOL, to control th e volum e. Scroll
the knob up to raise the volume; scroll it down to lo w er volume.
Always turn down the volume before using earphones
SING BATTERY POWER
Insert 3 AAA batteries, press the BATT button (front right side of
radio) and then press the POWER button to turn th e radio on.

SING AND CHARGING THE
RECHARGABLE BATTERY
The rechargeable Ni-MH (nick 9t-metal hydride) battery is located
in the battery compartment. To use it, plug the battery into the
socket adjacent to it press the D YN button (front right side of
radio) and then the PO W E R button. You may have to charge the
battery. To do this, simply turn the crank for 90 seconds. You can
also charge via mini SB located under DC-IN (5V) on the back of
the radio. After charging, press D Y N and then PO W E R After a
few years the rechargeable battery will eventually lose its ability to
hold a charge. Contact Lextroiix to order a replacement.
While crank charging the Ni-MH battery, the battery charge
indicator (located on front right side of radio) turns red. While
charging the battery with the SB cord, the charging light turns
red while charging and turns green when fully charged.
A fully charged rechargeable sli-MH battery will play for about 4
to 5 hours, at low volume. Crank charging for 1 minute will play
the radio for about 5 minutes at low volume.
W a rn in g : If you have the rechargeable battery unplugged,
do not turn the crank, as this can cause overload to internal
components, and possibly damage them.

SING THE DC-IN (5V) SB CORD
A SB charging cord is included. Plug the large SB plug into your
computer's SB socket (computer must be turned on) or into an AC
adapter (not inducted) with a SB socket on it (must support 5V 500),
available at most electronics retailers. Plug the mini- SB plug into the
DC-IN socket (located under the top rubber cover on the back of the
radio). To play the radio without charging the rechargeable battery,
press BATT and then POWER (button with circle and vertical line). To
play the radio and charge the rechargeable battery, press DYN and
then press POWER A full charge is acquired after about 8 hours of
charging. The radio can be played while it's charging.
LCD BACKLIGHT
Each time a button is pressed, the LCD backlight turns on
for about 10 seconds.
SELECTING BANDS AND
T NING IN STATIONS
The AXIS plays AM (520-1710 KHz), FM (87.5-108 MHz) and
seven Shortw ave channels:
Select AM, FM or SW1-SW7 with the band knob on the left
side of the radio.
When listening to FM and Shortwave channels, extend the
telescopic antenna all the way up. When tuning AM stations
the telescopic antenna is not needed and can be lowered.
Tune into stations by scrolling the TUNE knob.

For best results use 49,41 31 and 25 m eters at night and use
25, 22,19 16 and 13 meters during the day:
SW 1 : 5.8-7.5 MHz, 49 (5.8-6 2 MHz) and
41 (7.1-7.5 M Hz) metei bands
SW 2: 9.3-10.05 MHz, 31 meler band
SW 3: 11.55-12.2 MHz, 25 m eter band
SW 4: 13.4-14 MHz, 22 m etei band
SW 5: 15-15.8 MHz, 19 m etei band
SW 6: 17.4-18.05 M Hz, 16 m eter band
SW 7: 21.2-21.8 MHz, 13 m eler band
CHARGING CELL PHONES
If your cell phone has a SB charging cord, you can use it. If rot,
you can purchase one from www .iGo.co n , or call 1-888-205-0093.
To purchase a charging tip and cord for your cell phone, go to
www.iGo.com , or call 1-888-205-0093. Purchase SB charging
cable model# PS00271-0003 and have the brand and model of
your cell phone ready to purchase the tip.
To use the cell phone's SB charging cord, connect it to the
radio's large SB socket (located u nd e' the rubber cover on
the back of th e radio.) Press th e C ELL autton and the battery
pow er w ill directly dump charge to your cell phone. The Axis
w ill only charge your cell phone if the battery indicator shows
it at half fu ll, or tw o bars. To charge your cell phone w ith a low
battery, turn the crank for 7 m inutes at 130 rpm to charge the
cell phone enough to talk fo r about 5 ninutes.

The Axis has a low voltage protection circuit to avoid the battery
from dropping too low in voltage from cell phone charging. If the
battery symbol on the LCD display shows three bars, it can support
cell phone-charging. When the battery symbol is blinking, it stops
charging your cell phone and you are urged to re-charge the battery
until the blinking stops so that cell phone charging can resume.
To charge your cell phone:
1. Press DYN Make sure th at the battery sym bol has three
bars. If it doesn't o r if it ’s blinking it m ust be charged by
cranking or with an AC adapter until it stops blinking.
2. Plug th e SB cell phone charging cord into the PHONE
CHARGER socket (under the rubber cover on the back
of the radio).
3. Plug the other end o f the cord into the cell phone.
4 Press the button labeled CELL and 'CELL' w ill appear in the
lower right comer of the LCD display. The cell phone should
start charging and show charging on its display.
A fter about 20 minutes o f charging, th e cell phone should have
a talk tim e o f 20 to 25 m inutes.
If you don't have time to charge the radio's rechargeable battery
you can still charge your cell phone by pressing DYN and turning
the crank fo r 7 minutes. W ith your cell phone plugged in, press
CELL and charge the cell phone for about 5 minutes, afte r which
you can talk for about 6 minutes.

SETTING THE TIME AND ALARM
The clock is a 12 or 24-hour d o ck. It is set as a 12-hour dock by
defau lt, show ing PM in the display starting a t noon. T o change
it to a 24-hour d ock see th e tim e setting instructions below .
The alarm turns on th e radio to t ie last statio n tun ed.
To set the time:
1. W ith the radio turned o ff, p'ess the S ET button (th e fourth
button from the le ft, under the display) for one se o n d .
2. W hile the hour flashes press the UP or DOWN buttons
(th e 3rd and 2nd button from the le ft, under th e display)
to se t the hour.
3. Press SET again.
4. W h ile the m inute flashes press the P o r DOW N buttons
to set the m inutes.
5. Press SET again.
6. If you wish to change th e d ock mode from 12 to 24 hours
or v ice versa, press the UP o r DOWN buttons to change it
from the one displayed to :he other.
7. Press SET to finalize th e t in e setting.
To set the alarm:
1. W ith the radio turned o ff, press th e ALARM but:on
(to th e far le ft side under th e display) so that 'ALA R M '
appears at the to p of th e display.
2. Press SET to make the hour flash.
3. W hile the hour flashes, press th e P or DOWN buttons
to set the alarm hour.
4. Press SET to make the m iru tes flash.
5. W h ile the m inute flashes, Dress th e UP or DOWN buttons
to set the alarm m inutes.
6. Press SE T to fin alize th e afemn setting*.
7. Press ALARM again to deactivate th e alarm .

W ith th e radio on o r o ff press the ALARM bu tton. No tice that
w hen it's on, 'A LARM ' appears at th e top o f th e display. W ien
it's o ff, 'A LA R M ' disappears.
SE OF SLEEP TIMER
W ith the radio turned on or o ff, seq uentially pressing th e
SLEEP button cycles the tim er through 90, 60, 30 and 10
minutes, allow ing the radio to play fo r the selected am ounl
o f tim e and then autom atically turn o ff.
SING THE FLASHLIGHT
AND EMERGENCY LIGHT
se the ON/OFF/ " z i " sw itch on th e top le ft o f th e radio
to turn these lights on and o ff. The ON position turns on a
flashlight. The " H i " position turns on a flashing red lig h t

EARPHONE JACK
The AUDIO-OUT so cket is under th e low er rubber cover Dn
the back o f th e rad io. Plug in any stereo earphones. Audio is
heard in m ono only. Always turn down the volume before
plugging in earphone/headphones

A DIO-IN SOCKET
The AUDIO-IN socket is located under th e lo w er rubber
cover on th e back of the radio. It enables you to listen to
other devices, such as M P3 players, using a stereo 3 .5 mm
(1/8 inch) connector cord.
RESETTING THE AXIS
If the A xis ever stops w orking c r w o n 't turn on, just reset it.
Remove your A A A batteries and unplug the rechargeable
battery. Let the radio sit fo r 30 m inutes, then put them back
in. To play it from A A A s press BATT first, then POW ER To
play it from the rechargeable batteries, first press DYN, turn
th e crank fo r a t least one m inute, then press POWER

REGLER LE VOL ME
Tournez le bouton du volum e, qui com porte l'in d icatio n VOL,
pour régler le volum e. Tournez le bouton vers le hau t p our monter
le volum e ou vers le bas pour le baisser. Baissez toujours le
volume avant d'utiliser des écouteurs
TILISER DES PILES
Installez 3 piles AA A dans la radio, appuyez sur le bouton BATT
(côté droit de la face avan t de la radio), puis appuyez sur le bcuton
POWER pour allum er la radio.

TILISER ET RECHARGER LA
BATTERIE RECHARGEABLE
La batterie rechargeable Ni-MH (nickel - hydrure métallique)
est située dans un compartiment spécifique de la radio. Pour
l'utiliser, vous devez la brancher dans la prise située à son côté, puis
appuyer sur le bouton DYN (côté droit c e la face avant de la radio)
et enfin appuyer sur le bouton POWER Il peut être nécessaire de
recharger la batterie. Pour cela, il vous suffit de tourner la manivelle
pendant 90 secondes. Vous pouvez égaem ent la recharger à l'aide
du port mini SB présent sous la prise DC-IN (5V) au dos de la radio.

de rechange.
Quand vous rechargez la batterie Ni-MH avec la manivelle,
le voyant de recharge de la batterie (stu é sur le côté droit
de la face avant de la radio) s'allum e en rouge. Quand vous
rechargez la batterie à l'aide d'un câ b e SB, le voyant de
recharge s'allume en rouge pendant la recharge, puis en
vert une fois que la batterie est compÉtem ent rechargée.

Avec une batterie rechargeable Ni-MH complètement rechargée, la
radio a une autonomie de 4 à 5 heures à faible volume. Tourner la
manivelle pendant 1 minute donne à la radio une autonomie de 5
minutes à faible volume.
Av ertisse m e n t : Si la batterie rechargeable est débranchée,
ne tournez pas la m anivelle, car cela risque de provoquer une
surcharge des com posants internes de la radio, ce qui peut les
endommager.
TILISER LE CABLE SB DC-IN (5V)
n câble de recharge SB est fourni. Branchez la grande fiche SB
du câble sur un port SB de votre ordinateur (l'ordinateur doit être
allumé) ou d'un adaptateur secteur (non fourni) pourvu d'une prise
SB (5V/500mA, disponible dans la plupart des magasins d'appareils
électroniques). Branchez la fiche mini SB dans la prise DC-IN (située
sous le capuchon en caoutchouc au dos de la radio). Pour écouter la
radio sans recharger la batterie rechargeable, appuyez sur BATT, puis
sur PO W ER (bouton marqué d'un trait vertical dans un cercle). Pour
écouter la radio e t recharger la batterie rechargeable, appuyez sur
DYN, puis sur PO W ER, il faut environ 8 heures pour que la batterie
soit complètement rechargée. Vous pouvez écouter la radio pendant
que sa batterie est en recharge.

Chaque fois que vous appuyez sur un bouton, le rétroéclairage
de l'écra n LCD s'allum e pendant 10 secondes.

SELECTIONNER NE BANDE DE
FREQ ENCES ET REGLER LA FREQ ENCE
L'A XIS permet d'écouter des stations AM (520-1710 KHz) et FM
(87.5-108 MHz), ainsi que sept stations à ondes courtes
Sélectionnez AM, FM ou SW1 - SW7 à l'aide du bouton de sélec
tion de la bande de fréquences situé sur le côté gauche de la radio.
Avec le bouton de bande situé sur la gauche du poste,
sélectionnez AM, FM ou SW1-SW7 Pour les stations FM et
les stations à ondes courtes, sortez com plètem ent l'arte nn e
télescopique. Pour les stations AM, l'antenne télescopique n'est
pas nécessaire et peut être rentrée. Réglez les stations à l'aide
du bouton TUNE
Pour de meilleurs résultats, utilisez les bandes 49,41,31 e t 25
mètres la nuit e t les bandes 2 5,2 2,1 9,1 6 et 13 mètres pendant
la journée.
SW1 : 5.8-7.5 MHz, bande des 49 (5.8-6.2 MHz)
e t 41 (7.1-7.5 MHz) mètres.
SW 2: 9.3-10.05 MHz, bande des 31 mètres
SW 3: 11.55-12.2 MHz, bande des 25 mètres

RECHARGER N TELEPHONE PORTABLE
Si votre téléphone portable est équipé d’un câble de recharge SB,
utilisez-le. Dans le cas contraire, vous pouvez en acheter un sur
www .iGo.com ou en contactant le 1-888-205-0093. Pour acheter
un embout adaptateur et un câble pour votre téléphone portable,
rendez-vous sur le site w w w .iGo.com ou contactez le 1-888-205-
0093 en indiquant le numéro d e câble de recharge SB PS00271-
0003. Veillez à pouvoir fournir la marque e t le m odèle de votre
téléphone portable lorsque vous achetez un em bout adaptateur
pour votre téléphone portable.

L'Axis intègre un circuit de protection basse tension permettant
d'éviter que la batterie ne subisse une décharge profonde lois
de la recharge d'un téléphone portable. Si le symbole battere
affiché à l'écran comporte trois traits, la batterie peut supporte!
recharge d'un téléphone portable. S'il se met à clignoter, cela ir
dique que la radio a cessé de recharger votre téléphone portîfc
et que vous devez recharger la batterie de la radio sans attendi

Pour recharger votre téléphone portable :
1. Appuyez su r DYN V é rifiez que le sym bccbole b a tte rie

la m an ivelle ou ave c un adap tateur CA j / ju sq u'à ce que le

2. Branchez un câble SB de recharge de téléàléphone portable
dans le port de RECHARGE DE TÉLÉPHOIONE (situé sous le
capuchon en caoutchouc au dos de la radicikio).

Après environ 20 m inutes de recharge, le téléplcphone a une
autonomie en com m unication d'environ 20 à 2125 m inutes.
Si vous n'avez pas le tem ps de recharger la batteræ rie rechargeable
de la radio, vous pouvez quand même recharger i£r votre téléphone
portable en appuyant sur DYN, puis en toum anttnt la m anivelle
pendant 7 m inutes. Branchez votre téléphone p ocortab le, appuyez
sur CELL e t rechargez-le pendant environ 5 minurutes. Cela lui
donne une autonom ie en com munication d 'en viiviro n 6 m inutes.
