foraddingorremovingwheelweightsor
counterweightstoimprovestability.
•Donotuseagrasscatcheronsteepslopes.A
heavygrasscatchercouldcauselossofcontrol
oroverturnthemachine.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Be
suretotravelintherecommendeddirectionon
hillsides.Turfconditionscanaffectthemachine's
stability.Useextremecautionwhileoperatingnear
drop-offs.
•Keepallmovementonslopesslowandgradual.
Donotmakesuddenchangesinspeed,directions
orturning.
•Thegrasscatchercanobstructtheviewtothe
rear.Useextracarewhenoperatinginreverse.
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachine
intoatrailerortruck.
•Neveroperatewiththedischargedeectorraised,
removedoraltered,unlessusingagrasscatcher.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Do
notmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.
•Stoponlevelground,disengagedrives,chock
orblockwheels,shutoffenginebeforeleaving
theoperator'spositionforanyreasonincluding
emptyingthegrasscatcheroruncloggingthe
chute.
•Ifyouremovethegrasscatcher,besuretoinstall
anydischargedeectororguardthatmighthave
beenremovedtoinstallthegrasscatcher.Donot
operatethemowerwithouteithertheentiregrass
catcherorthegrassdeectorinplace.
•Stoptheenginebeforeremovingthegrasscatcher
oruncloggingthechute.
•Donotleavegrassingrasscatcherforextended
periodsoftime.
•Grasscatchercomponentsaresubjecttowear,
damageanddeterioration,whichcouldexpose
movingpartsorallowobjectstobethrown.
Frequentlycheckcomponentsandreplace
withmanufacturer'srecommendedparts,when
necessary.
TowingSafety
•Donotattachtowedequipmentexceptatthehitch
point.
•Followtheattachmentmanufacturer's
recommendationforweightlimitsfortowed
equipmentandtowingonslopes.
•Neverallowchildrenorothersinorontowed
equipment.
•Onslopes,theweightofthetowedequipmentmay
causelossoftractionandlossofcontrol.Reduce
towedweightandslowdown.
•Stoppingdistanceincreaseswiththeweightofthe
towedload.Travelslowlyandallowextradistance
tostop.
•Makewideturnstokeeptheattachmentclearof
themachine.
•Donottowaloadthatweighsmorethanthe
towingmachine.

isrunning.
•Alwaysshuttheengineoffandwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeclearingan
obstructionfromthebaggingsystem.
•Neverdomaintenanceorrepairswhilethe
engineisrunning.
WARNING
Withoutthegrassdeector,baggertubesor
completebaggerassemblymountedinplace,
youandothersareexposedtobladecontact
andthrowndebris.Contactwiththerotating
mowerblade(s)andthrowndebriswillcause
injuryordeath.
•Alwaysinstallthegrassdeectorwhen
removingthebaggerandchangingtoside
dischargemode.
•Ifthegrassdeectoriseverdamaged,
replaceitimmediately.Thegrassdeector
routesmaterialdowntowardtheturf.
•Neverputyourhandsorfeetunderthe
mower.
•Nevertrytoclearthedischargeareaor
mowerbladesunlessyoumovethepower
takeoff(PTO)tooffandrotatetheignition
keytooff.Alsoremovethekeyandpull
thewireoffofthesparkplug(s).
•Turnofftheenginebeforeuncloggingthe
dischargechute.
EmptyingtheGrassBags
Becarefulwhenliftingorhandlingagrassbagthatis
full.Toemptythegrassbags:
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceand
disengagethebladecontrolswitch.
2.Movethemotioncontrolleversoutwardtothe
NEUTRAL-LOCKposition,shutofftheengine,
removethekey,engagetheparkingbrakeand
waitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleaving
theoperatingposition.
3.Open(raise)thebaggertop(Figure21).

CAUTION
Failingtoremovethefrontbaggerweights
fromleversteermodelsandoperatingthe
machinewithoutthebaggerattachmentmay
causeanunstableconditionwhichcould
resultinalossofcontrol.
•Alwaysremovethefrontweights(where
required)whenremovingthebagger
attachment.
•Neveroperatethemachinewithoutthe
baggerattachmentandthefrontweights
(whererequired)stillinstalled.
ThebaggercanberemovedbyrepeatingtheSetup
sectionsfromallinstalledbaggerrelatedkitsin
reverseorder.Ifweightsareinstalled,alwaysremove
thefrontbaggerweightswhenremovingthebagger
attachments.
Note:Itisonlynecessarytoremovethecutoffbafe
wheninstallingamulchingkit.
UsingtheDrawBar
Thebaggersupportbrackethasadrawbarfeature
thatcanbeusedfortowing.
•Readandunderstandalltheoperatinginstructions
ofthemachine.
•Whenturning,slowdownandobservethe
clearance.
•Makewideturnsandkeeptowedequipmentclear
ofthetowingvehicle.
•Themaximumdrawbarpullis36kg(80lb).

Knowingthisinformationcouldhelpyou,yourfamily,
pets,orbystandersavoidinjury.
WARNING
Drivingonthestreetorroadwaywithoutturn
signals,lights,reectivemarkings,oraslow
movingvehicleemblemisdangerousandcan
leadtoaccidentscausingpersonalinjury.
Donotdrivemachineonapublicstreetor
roadway.
Totransportthemachine:
1.Ifusingatrailer,connectittothetowingvehicle
andconnectthesafetychains.
2.Ifapplicable,connectthetrailerbrakes.
3.Loadthemachineontothetrailerortruck.
4.Stoptheengine,removethekey,setthebrake,
andclosethefuelvalve.
5.Tiedownthemachinenearthefrontcaster
wheelsandtherearbumper(Figure24).

bedtotheground.Asteeperanglemaycausemower
componentstogetcaughtastheunitmovesfromthe
ramptothetrailerortruck.Steeperanglesmayalso
causethemachinetotiporlosecontrol.Ifloadingon
ornearaslope,positionthetrailerortrucksothatitis
onthedownsideoftheslopeandtherampextends
uptheslope.Thiswillminimizetherampangle.
WARNING
Loadingamachineontoatrailerortruck
increasesthepossibilityoftip-overandcould
causeseriousinjuryordeath.

BaggingSpeed
Mostoftenyouwillbagwiththemowerthrottleinthe
Fastpositionanddriveatanormalgroundspeed.
However,inextremelydryanddustygrass,youmay
wanttoslightlyreducethethrottlespeedandincrease
thegroundspeedofthemower.Thebaggingsystem
mayplugifyoudrivetoofastandtheenginespeed
getstooslow.Onhillsitmaybenecessarytoslow
themowergroundspeed.Thishelpsmaintainthe
enginespeedandbaggingefciency.Mowdownhill
wheneverpossible.
CAUTION
Asthebaggerlls,extraweightisaddedto

themower.Severalhourslater,whentheclippings
aredry,installthecompletebaggerattachmentand
vacuumupthegrassclippings.
SignsofPlugging
Asyouarebagging,asmallamountofgrassclippings
normallyblowoutthefrontofthemower.Anexcessive
amountofclippingsblowingoutindicatesthatthe
bagsarefullorthesystemisplugged.
