The Model 381395 is a handheld, battery-operated Oscilloscope, True RMS Data Logger
and Digital Multimeter designed and tested according to IEC Publication 1010-1 (EN 61010-

EXTECH INSTRUMENTS CORPORATION warrants this instrument to be free of defects in parts and
workmanship for one year from date of shipment (a six month limited warranty applies to sensors and
cables). If it should become necessary to return the instrument for service during or beyond the
warranty period, contact the Customer Service Department at [phone] ext. 210 for
authorization or visit our website www.extech.com for contact information. A Return Authorization
(RA) number must be issued before any product is returned to Extech. The sender is responsible for
shipping charges, freight, insurance and proper packaging to prevent damage in transit. This warranty
does not apply to defects resulting from action of the user such as misuse, improper wiring, operation
outside of specification, improper maintenance or repair, or unauthorized modification. Extech

zDo not operate this instrument if it appears damaged or if it functions abnormally

Warning!
Please read the following safety information before using the product. To avoid possible
electric shock or personal injury, please read and follow these guidelines carefully:
zFollow the guidelines in this manual and DO NOT use the Meter if the case is damaged
zDo not apply excessive voltage to the Multimeter. Apply voltage within the rated range
only
zUse caution when measuring voltages above 30V RMS, 42V peak, or 60V DC. These
voltages pose an electric shock hazard
zWhen using the probes always keep fingers behind the finger guards
zAlways connect the common test leads (black) before connecting the live test leads (red),
and disconnect the live test leads (red) before disconnecting the common test leads
(black)
zDisconnect circuit power and discharge all high-voltage capacitors before testing
resistance and continuity
zOnly qualified personnel should open the meter case
zWhen replacing fuses, use only the specified type and rating
zDo not try to operate the Meter if it is damaged. Disconnect the power from the equipment
and connect the point of purchase for return and repair information

Be extremely careful when making high-voltage measurements; DO NOT TOUCH THE
TERMINALS OR THE ENDS OF TEST LEAD PROBES
2.1.3. 600V MAX
To avoid electrical shock or instrument damage, do not connect the COM input terminal to
any source of more 600V with respect to earth/ground.
2.1.4. The METER provides 4 input jacks (see above)
1) Channel A
Use Channel A for all single input measurements.
2) Common
Use Common (Black) as single ground for low frequency measurements and for ACV, DCV,
Ohm, Continuity, Hz, RPM, P/W and DTY measurements.
3) Channel B
For measurements on two signals use Channel B in combination with Channel A.
4) External trigger
The EXT.TRIG input accepts external trigger signals.

2.2.1. Powering ON and OFF ( )
Pressing and holding this key for 2-3 seconds will turn the unit on.
Pressing this key again will turn the power off.
2.2.2. AUTO key ( )
1) In General Scope Mode, pressing this key will change the Vertical and Horizontal
divisions from Manual to Auto-setting ( ).
2) In Data Logger and Digital Multimeter modes, pressing this key will switch the Range
mode to Auto-range mode (AT).
2.2.3. TRIGger key ( )
Triggering informs the Meter when to begin displaying a waveform.
This key is available for use in General Scope Mode only.

15) setup and waveform memories are available.

The screen is divided into three areas: INDICATORS, DISPLAY area, and COMMAND
MENU. Refer to the Figure below.
