Welcome
Thank you for purchasing the new expander Farfisa FX1000. It represents an interesting integration to the sector of
sound modules in terms of compactness, musical performance and economicity.
FX1000 not only has all the features necessary for the perfect reproduction of musical files in General Midi standard
and Kar format, but it also has other additional sound banks, drawbars organ with rotator effect, a Farfisa Combo
Compact emulator and a Synth with two oscillators.
A new software for PC is available on www.farfisa.eu to set the main features of FX1000 and to program the expander
with your own Combo Compact, Synth or Drawbars sounds.

TheFX1000ispoweredthroughtheUSBcable
from a computer or from the power adapter
AC/DC“ADS 0510/USB” ( Vdc =5,2V /I =1A).
Such equipment is compliance with the national and
internationalStandardsonelectricalsafety.
InsertthejackintheDC 5,2VsocketAlternatively,
anotherAC/DCadaptercanbeused,aslongasithasthe
samenominal values ofthose of theadapter supplied
withtheequipment,withthesameorbetterfeatures.
RECOMMENDATION:Thenetworksocketmustbeeasily
accessibletobeabletoconnecttheadapter’splug.
ATTENTION:Everyadapter,evenifequippedwithsafety
insulation,mustberegularlyexaminedtoavoidpossible

What is MIDI?
TheacronymMIDIistheabbreviationof"MusicalInstrumentDigitalInterface"andrepresentsastan-
dardforthetransmissionofdataviacablesbetweenanelectronicmusicalinstrumentandapersonal
computeroranotherelectronicmusicalinstrument.
The General Midi (GM) system
ThisexpanderadoptstheGeneralMidi(GM)system,astandardwhichallowsuserstoreceiveorsend
datainMIDIformattoapersonalcomputerortoanotherkeyboardwithoutcompatibilityproblems
betweenmusicalinstrumentsofdifferentbrands.
TheFX1000isequippedwithaUSB-MIDIplugforconnectiontothepersonalcomputerandwitha
MIDI-InsockettoreceiveMIDIdatafromakeyboardoraMIDIdevicewithaMIDIOutsocket.
TheconnectiontakesplaceusingtheUSB cable(supplied)oraMIDI cable(notsupplied)asshownin
thenextexamples.

Procedure to connect FX1000 to the computer
PriorconnectingFX1000toPC,makesurethatthecomputerisswitchedon.Carryouttheconnection
withthecablesupplied.Afterafewseconds,aseriesofmessageswillappearonthecomputer:
Atthispoint,FX1000iscorrectlyconnectedandrecognisedbythecomputer.
Note:TherecognitionofFX1000bythecomputertakesplacesduringthefirstconnection;insubse-
quentconnectionnomessagewillappear.Onlythecharacteristicsoundproducedbythecomputerto
indicatetheinsertionofaUSBdevicewillbeheard.
Attenzion:If theFX1000isnotrecognisedbythecomputerand aUSBdevicenotrecognisederror
messageappears,repeattheoperation.Iftheproblempersists,checkthattheminimumrequirements
arerespected.
Midi Channels addressing
WhenyouuseaMIDIsequencerinyourPCitísnecessarytochoosetheMIDIdevicewhereyouwant
tosendthedatatoplaythemusic.NormallyinMIDISequenceranoptionìMididevicesîispresentin
themenu.Selectingthismenu,PCwillshowyoutwonewMIDIdevices:"USBSpeakers"("FX1000"for
Windows7)and"USBSpeakers_2"("FX1000_2"forWindows7).

Inthe'60syearsFARFISAproducedmanymusicalinstrumentsthatcontributedtomakethehistoryof
music.
Withthe"Compact"orwiththe"synthorchestra"playedthemostfamouskeyboardplayersandthe
mostfamousmusicalgroups.
TodayFARFISAusesnewadvanceddigitaltechnologiestoreproduceancientsounds.
"FarfisaVintage"isaprogramwrittentoprovideeasyaccesstothe"Vintage"soundscontainedwithin
theexpanderFX1000.
Downloading and installing "Farfisa Vintage"
1. InDownloadssectionofthesitewww.farfisa.eupleasedownloadtheprogram"FarfisaVintage.exe".
2. Runtheprogramandfollowtheinstructionsforautomaticinstallation.
3. After the installation in Windows Program menu a sub-folder "Farfisa" will appear. The link to
"FarfisaVintage"willallowyoutolaunchtheprogram.
Startup and configuration
Before you launch "Farfisa Vintage"
please close all applications on PCs
usingMIDIdevices.
Connect your PC to FX1000 by the

Connect a MIDI keyboard to the
FX1000,takingcaretoselecttheMIDI
OUTsocketonthekeyboard.
Warning:onthekeyboardmidioutput
channelshouldbe1.
Launchtheprogram"VintageFarfisa.

Farfisa Combo Compact
The "Farfisa Combo Compact" was one of the
most famous and best-selling keyboard of the
'60s.
Withthe"Compact"playedthemostfamouskey-
boardplayersandthemostfamousgroups.
Today,withmoderntechnology,Farfisaproposes
thesoundsofanorganthatmadethehistoryof
music.
To call the function "COMPACT" press the icon
"COMBO COMPACT.

Farfisa Drawbars and Rotator
Anothertypeofverypopularorgansinthe'60swas
the"Drawbars"organ.
Ina"Drawbars"organseveralsinusoidsofdifferent
frequenciesaresummed.Thistypeofsoundgene-
ration allows a maximum of 16.777.216 combina-
tions.
Often to the "Drawbars" organs a sound system
consistingofrotatingspeakerswasassociated.
Becauseoftheinertiaoftherotatingsystemofthe
speakers, the transition from low speed to high
speedrotationoccurredgradually.
Farfisa Synth Sound Maker
The"Synth"sectioninFX1000reproducestheper-
formanceofa'70sanalogsynthesizerwithdigital
technology.
The controls of the synthesizer are divided into
three parts: "Oscillator 1 ", "Oscillator 2 " and
"GeneralParameters".
Farfisa General Midi
The"GeneralMidi"section has been designed to
allowacompletecontrolofFX1000throughagra-
phicalinterface.
7. TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM
No sound is produced when reproducing MIDI
datafromacomputer.
There is some noise when a mobile phone is
used.
Anyotheranomalies.
POSSIBLE CAUSE AND SOLUTION
The USB-MIDI cable has not been connected correctly.
Properly connect the UBS-MIDI cable. Correctly set
MINI DEVICE.
Using a mobile phone near the equipment may cause
interference. In order to avoid this problem, deactivate
the mobile phone or use it away from the equipment.
Disconnect and reconnect the USB cable

de of the instrument through any of the
slotsoropeningsinthecase.
15. Ensurethattheadapterissufficientlyventi-
lated and that the ventilation slits are not
covered with objects such as newpapers,
tablecloths,curtains,etc..
16. Donotexposetheproductortheadaptorto
dropsorspraysofanykindofliquid.
17. Thisproductshouldbereferredtoanappro-
ved service centre when: a)  It has been
exposed to rain.  b) It appears to operate
incorrectly or shows a marked change in
performance.  c) It has been dropped or if
the case has been damaged.  d) Objects
havefallenintotheinstrumentorliquidhas
beenspiltintooroverit.e)TheAC/DCadap-
torhasbeendamaged.
18. Never attempt to repair your  instrument
yourself. Any operation should be referred
toauthorizedpersonnel,otherwisethegua-
ranteewillbedeclaredvoid.
19. Donotusealcohol,solventsorsimilarchemi-
cal substances for cleaning. Use a soft cloth
dampened in a bland solution of water and
neutral detergent. Dip the cloth in the solu-
tionandthenwringituntilitisnearlydry.
8. MAINTENANCE AND REMARKS
When using electrical products, basic precau-
tionsmustbefollowed,includingthefollowing:
1. Read all the instructions before using the
product.
2. Whentheproductisusedbychildren,super-
visionbyanadultisadvised.
3. Do not use the product near water, for
examplenearabathtub,washbowl,kitchen
sink, or near a swimming pool etc., or in a
wetorhumidbasement.
4. Whenconnectingtothemainssupplyensu-
rethat:
a) your hands are
not wet (to
avoid electric
shocks);
b)donotpullonthecable.
5. The external amplification is capable of
generating sound levels that may perma-
nently damage hearing. Do not operate it
for a long period of time at high volume
levels or in any case at an uncomfortable
volume level. Especially when using head-
phones,alwaysmoderatethevolume.
6. Theproductshouldbepositionedsothatit’s
locationwillprovideadequateventilation.
7. The product should be positioned away
fromheatsourcessuchasradiators,heaters
orotherproductsthatproduceheat.
8. Thisproductshouldonlybeconnectedtoa
powersupplyofthevoltagecorresponding
to that shown on the label on the instru-
ment using an AC/DC adaptor. This label,
containing all electrical data, relevant war-
ningmessagesandtheinstrumentidentifi-
cationdata,canbefoundontheunderside
oftheproduct.
9. If theproductisnotusedforlongperiods,
the AC/DC adaptor should be unplugged
frommains.
