General Information
The FD932DVD-LP-3 (-AV) are DVD players that play music and videos. In addition,
the unit also allows the user to view pictures and/or videos via the USB and SD Card
ports located on the front panel of the player. A switch on the front allows the user to
select between the DVDplayer and the auxiliaryinput. The selected source is then output
to a monitor, speakers or Cabin Management System via composite video and analog
stereo audio output.
Features
Compatible with DVD/CD/SVCD/VCD/MP3
Back-Lit Front Panel Buttons
USB/SD Media Player
Full Function Remote Control
The FD932DVD-LP-3-AV is designed as a replacement for the popular FDS Avionics
Corp. FD932DVD-4B. Like the FD932DVD-4B, AV inputs are provided on the front of
the unit for connecting an external video or audio source.
Drop in Replacement for obsolete FD932DVD-4B
Easy Acess RCA inputs (front panel or DB-9 Optional Breakout Cable)
Additional Information
The FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) must be controlled with the included remote. Navigate by
utilizing the direction arrows and other buttons on the remote.
The FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) can be used to charge small portable electronic devices
when the player is in USB mode. To enable this feature the user must plug in the USB
device and then use the remote control to select USB as the input device. The
FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) cannot play a DVD while the device is charging a connected
USB device. The USB port can charge devices with up to a 5 Watt charge current
requirement (Apple iPhone, iPod, small Android, etc.). It will provide a slow/trickle
charge for 10W iPads. The FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) can play music, video and pictures
from a thumb drive connected to the front panel USB connector. It cannot play
content stored on an iPad or other PED through the USB port.

Additional Information (Cont)
FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) will read the entire contents of the USB or SD card before
opening the file display window. This window will display all folders on the left and the
folder contents will be displayed on the right. The FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) will always
play the first song on the SD Card or Thumb Drive upon starting. The unit will default to
the latest media plugged in (IE, If a thumb drive is plugged in after an SD Card, the
DVD player will default to the thumb drive or Vice Versa). It does not recognize the last
song played when turned off. The FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) can support SD cards up to
2GB in size.
Installation Instructions
All cabin entertainment equipment, such as the FD932DVD-LP-3-AV, should be
installed on a non-essential bus and have a dedicated circuit breaker. It is necessary
that a switch be installed in the cockpit so that the pilot can de-energize the
entertainment system should it become necessary.
Precautionary Statement
In order to prevent damage to the FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV), please follow the following
precautions:
Do not open and/or disassemble the unit
Do not attempt to insert a 3” disc (Mini-CD/Mini-DVD)
Do not use sharp objects (such as pens, pencils, ice pick, etc.) to operate the

Video Wiring Suggestions
Avoid routing video wiring parallel to:
AC wiring
Strobe wiring
DC motor supply cables
Inverter cabling
Or any other potential noise source
Composite and SDI Video Wiring
The recommended cable for both composite and SDI is PIC 75 Ohm Coax, P/N
V75268. This is a lightweight, flexible, and low signal loss cable which meets FAA
flammability requirements of FAR 23.1359(d), FAR 25.853(a) and FAR 25.869(a)(4).
Similar aviation coaxial cable can be used from other vendors, as well. Some aircraft
are prone to AC noise - we recommend adding to the composite source a 75 Ohm
video isolation transformer such as Deerfield Laboratory, Inc. Part No. 162-1
(www.deerfieldlab.com, (650) 632-4090). In most cases this should be added to the
video output of the source.

Power and Ground Wiring
The rated current of the equipment and associated voltage drop should be taken into
consideration when selecting wire gauge. The following example is based on an install with a
28VDC power system, 1.5 amp equipment load and a total of 50 feet of wire between the circuit
breaker, monitor and ground.
Example: 22awg wire has 16.2 Ohms per 1000 feet, this equates to .81 Ohms for 50 feet. 1.5
Amp of current on .81 Ohms will drop 1.22 Volts.

Also, use short heavy gauge wire and a clean tight connection for ground.
It is the installer's responsibility to understand the product's requirements in order to install the
product in compliance with industry standards and safety.

Remote Eye
The FD932DVD-LP-3(-AV) has an available remote IR sensor (“remote eye”) that
can be used to accept remote signals in addition to the main unit. For instance, the
remote eye can be mounted near a monitor, to allow both the monitor and the DVD
player to be controlled by pointing the remote at the same spot. Please note that the
IR Port on the front panel will remain functional whether or not you use the remote
eye.
The remote IR extension cable can be extended 5 feet from the FD932DVD-LP-3(-
AV).
