Fermax LYNX Ref. 1609 User manual

CALL DIVERT FUNCTION –INSTALLATION GUIDE
1. INTRODUCTION:
From LYNX v3.2 onwards, we have launched a new LYNXed App to divert calls to our
Smartphone or Tablet. This new App is available in Android and Apple markets:
Compatible versions in LYNX devices:
NOTE: Old LYNXed App is still available, only for older LYNX versions v2.X

2. LYNX VPN ROUTER CAPABILITIES:
LYNX Ref.1609 has got the following capabilities in terms of connectivity and quantity of terminals
supported:
Upstream
Bandwidth per conversation
Concurrent conversations
supported
5in High Quality (HQ)
7in Medium Quality (MQ) or Low Quality (LQ)
Terminals
per apartment
20 LYNXed Apps paired per apartment.
Connections
per device
8000 paired terminals supported per each Ref.1609
200 VPN active connections
(Active connection = App running on main screen)
NOTE: In most cases, only 1 x Ref.1609 is enough for each project that requires call divert
function connectivity. In case that more terminals or connections are required, we recommend to
add a second Ref.1609 connected to Internet for the same installation. For a second Ref.1609, a
new Internet connection is also needed (1 x iNET connection for each Ref.1609).
3. NEW LICENSES SYSTEM:
New monitors and telephones delivered from FERMAX include a License for LYNXed. This
License has to be registered in LYNXed and it is valid up to 20 devices paired per apartment.
Each license will be on a sticker in the corresponding LYNX device:

LYNX Monitors include Audio&Video License, so the call will appear in the corresponding
LYNXed Apps paired with Audio&Video streaming.
LYNX Telephones include Audio License, the call will be diverted with no video on LYNXed App.
In case Video is needed, it is possible to acquire Audio&Video license apart. Please contact
FERMAX Sales department.
4. HOW TO SETUP LYNX CALL DIVERT
In this section, we are going to explain the steps to configure LYNX Call Divert function in your
LYNX installation. The following example represents a simple LYNX network, but the steps to
setup the system can be applied for any other IP Addressing or LYNX project:
STEP 1 –CONNECT LYNX VPN Ref.1609
Connect your LYNX VPN ROUTER Ref.1609 to your LYNX system and provide an iNET
connection through a standard router or gateway.

By default, we will get the following IPs on each port:
LAN = 10.206.0.0 / 255.0.0.0
WAN = DHCP (IP given by Private Router)
For the moment, we will use standard LAN IP to register our Ref.1609 in FERMAX DNS Server
(STEP 2). WAN IP can be set as “Static IP” if necessary, depending on private network used.
REMARK: Do not use the same IP Addressing in LAN and WAN ports. Ref.1609 cannot route
incoming packets if both networks are the same in terms of IPs.
STEP 2 –REGISTER LYNX VPN SERVER
The second step is to register our Ref.1609 in our FERMAX Dynamic DNS Server. This will avoid
network problems in case that our ISP changes our public IP Address for Internet. For this task,
we will need to connect a PC/Laptop to our LYNX network as well as Internet:

REMARK: Do not connect the iNET Router to the same LYNX switch.
This would create a network loop causing “timeout” connections, problems in IP DHCP addressing
and other conflictts. LYNXed Pairing may fail as well as VPN connections for incoming calls.
From Laptop, we can access to internet and to LYNX Router’s webserver at http://10.206.0.0
(admin / 1234)

Download the following script and just execute it in the PC/Laptop
http://www.fermax.com/fermax-
files/3d033cb2c3fa47a4c2b3959591aba11b/6113/DDConfigurer.zip
This window will appear in Windows prompt (Console). That means the script has been executed
successfully. We can check that in DDNS option of our Ref.1609 the following information has
been filled in automatically:
STEP 3 –Opening ports in private router
To allow access to our LYNX Call Divert Service from internet, it is necessary that the following
ports are open in our private router:

- Port TCP 80 –Webserver for pairing process.
This is necessary to download the correct VPN configuration into LYNXed App (pairing).
- Port UDP 68 –DHCP Service for remote connections.
Now, the LYNXed Apps negotiate the VPN connection only when they are activated (on
screen). This allow to have 250 VPN connections and 8000 users per router.
- Port UDP 500 –VPN Service.
This is the VPN service, ISAKMP/IKE protocols & VPN Key Exchange.
- Port UDP 4500 –Incoming VoIP
This port is normally used for services like VoIP and P2P, that requires NAT-T.
It allows incoming calls (audio/video) and VoIP applications, using IPSec NAT-T.
It is also used by VPN services in macOS v10.X onwards.
This has to be done in private’s router/gateway in Port-Forwarding ot Virtual Server options. This
may vary depending on router’s brand used (Linksys, TP-Link, Cisco, Belkin, ZTE, etc.
STEP 4 –LYNX Monitor / Telephone settings
Make sure that our LYNX monitor or telephone has set the LAN IP of the Ref.1609 installed in
our FERMAX LYNX system. You can configure this using the webserver of your LYNX device,
just introducing the IP of your device in the web-browser.
For example, http://10.0.0.1

STEP 5 –License and Pairing process
Once our LYNX Ref.1609 is registered in our DNS server and we can access to the service from
Internet (using port forwarding), we can start pairing our Smartphones / Tablets using LYNXed
App and the corresponding License. You can download FERMAX LYNXed directly from
AppleStore (iOS) or PlayStore (Android):
Once you have downloaded LYNXed App, the first time it will ask you to enter a valid license.
Fill in the corresponding fields with the proper License number obtained:

The following “Pairing screen” will appear indicating that the App is ready to be paired:
Now, we need just to start pairing process with our FERMAX LYNX device.
MONITORS:
Click on Pairing Icon.
REMARK: Remember to enable LYNX Mobility function in “Installer Settings”.
Otherwise the icon will not appear in “User’s Menu”.
QR Code will be generated from LYNX Ref.1609 on monitor’s screen. Just scan this code using
LYNXed App for monitor to pair your mobile phone.
NOTE:
On the following video, you can see an example of a successful paring using a VIVO+ monitor:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bz16TnDx7Z1WY3BlRXZxc2I4WDQ

TELEPHONES:
To activate “Mobility” in your iLOFT LYNX telephone:
1. Press and hold the Conversation button for 5 seconds. A whistle will be heard and the
word PAIRING.
2. Press again (pushing once briefl y) the conversation button . A whistle will be heard and
the words ENABLE CALL DIVERT.
3. Press F1 to confi rm the function´s activation. A whistle will be heard and the words CALL
DIVERT ON.
Use LYNXed App for telephones to pair your mobile phone:
Push the F1 button on the iLOFT LYNX telephone, after 5 seconds, the telephone will start to
emit DTMF* tones and the application will start to decode itself. Once the tones have stopped
sounding, the application will complete the pairing process.
REMARK: In some cases, if your smartphone/tablet is in the same WLAN than your Ref.1609,
the call divert and pairing may fail. This is because, in that case, the Gateway must have “IP NAT
Loopback” function to be able to router packets from WLAN to the same LAN.
NOTE:
On the following video, you can see an example of a successful paring using a iLOFT telephone:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0Bz16TnDx7Z1WU29IVVZMb0I0eGs
STEP 6 –Confirm certificates and connect
Once the pairing process has been finished, we need just to accept VPN connection certificates.
This is automatically downloaded in our Smartphone/Tablet and we need just to allow them to
receive incoming PUSH notifications:

Password = lynxed -> OK -> ALLOW -> OK
The following screen means that the pairing has been finished successfully and you have proper
VPN connection with your LYNX system in general and with your apartment in particular:
Then, you are able to open the door as well as receiving calls in your smartphone/tablet.
REMARK: In some cases, if your smartphone/tablet is in the same WLAN than your Ref.1609,
the call divert and pairing may fail. This is because, in that case, the Gateway must have “IP NAT
Loopback” function to be able to router packets from WLAN to the same LAN.
NOTE:
On the following video, you can see an example of call divert function:

5. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM:
Monitor/iLOFT does not generate QR code nor DTMF tones.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Make sure that the Mobility settings are properly set in your monitor/telephone. See
STEP 4 of this guide. It is important that the LAN IP of Ref.1609 has been set in
your LYNX device. Otherwise, the monitor/telephone cannot send the request to the
Ref.1609 to generate that code.
Check if Ethernet cable in LAN port of Ref.1609 is connected and working. You can
try to ping Ref.1609’s IP from LYNX LAN and see if it responds accordingly.
Make sure that versions are the correct ones.
Use versions LYNXv3.2 onwards.
Reboot LYNX Router.
PROBLEM:
LYNXed App does not pair.
It gets “TimeOut” or nothing happens after scanning QR code or DTMF tones.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Make sure that port 80 TCP is open for your gateway. It is important that we can
reach the Ref.1609 from Internet. For that purpose, the corresponding ports must
be OPEN using “Port-Forwarding”. See STEP 3 of this guide.
There cannot be other services running on port 80 to not cause NAT conflicts.
Make sure that you have internet access from Ref.1609 as well as in your
Smartphone/Tablet.
Check with 4G/3G connection instead of Wi-Fi. In some cases, if your
smartphone/tablet is in the same WLAN than your Ref.1609, the call divert and
pairing may fail. This is because, in that case, the Gateway must have “IP NAT
Loopback” function to be able to router packets from WLAN to the same LAN.
You can try to connect to your Public IP address on port 80 from internet using a
web browser. For example: http://Your_Public_IP:80
You should get the following image in Chrome if you can access to the Ref.1609
(Connection OK). This message is generated by Ref.1609 itself:

PROBLEM:
LYNXed App does not connect. Icon always red.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Make sure there is not any other VPN service running in the same LAN of our
Ref.1609.
Make sure that ports 68, 500 and 4500 are forwarded to the Router’s WAN IP
address accordingly.
Disconnect firewalls and/or allow VPN connections to our Ref.1609 in the network.
PROBLEM:
LYNXed App indicates “Invalid License” after pairing.
TROUBLESHOOTING:
One license is valid for one apartment only. Make sure that no other person is
paired with your license. You can contact FERMAX After Sales department for this
purpose.
If license is already in use, make sure you are pairing with the correct monitor.
Reinstall App and enter the same License. It is possible that the License has been
reset before unpairing, this can cause an internal mismatch in the App.
