Risks associated with electric shocks

Check that the power plug is disconnected before touching live parts.

Make sure the power supply complies with the mac
hine's required voltage and frequency
requirements.

DO NOT use different types of power supplies.

DO NOT spray or pour water on the unit.

DO NOT cool the blade in water.

In case of contact with water, immediately unplug the power supply.


USE
The
Hot knife for polystyrene (Art. 0441)
is a device for hot cutting polystyrene or other
similar materials. The device is powered by the mains power supply.
230 V/ 50 Hz. The knife is made up of the following parts (see Figure 1):

THE FOLLOWING IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED!

Using the device on a surface that is susceptible to being damage
d by heat or is easily
flammable;

Resting the knife in such a way that the blade touches or is close to a heat
-
sensitive
surface;

Allowing the appliance to be used by untrained personnel and those who have not read
the instruction manual;

Using the device
in uncontrolled climatic conditions, humid or dusty environments, in
potentially explosive atmospheres;

Using the knife for a long period of time;

Using the knife in the presence of children;

Performing inspections and maintenance without disconnecting th
e power plug and
when still hot;

Modifying and/or tampering with the device;

Using power sources other than those prescribed;

Throwing water on the device and/or touch it with wet hands.

When not in use the knife should be resting on the appropriate stand
so that the blade
does not touch heat
-
sensitive objects.
Burns
Be careful when holding the knife, not to touch the blade or nearby guards, if still hot. You
could burn yourself!

HOW TO USE
5.1
Connection to the power supply
Switching on and off is achi
eved by inserting (and removing) the plug into/from a mains
socket 230 V / 50 Hz and subsequently rotating the temperature selection wheel. To remove
the plug, hold it by the body and never pull the cord (see Figure). The knife comes with a
Schuko plug, do
not force the plug into a normal Italian mains socket.

The use of a lifesaving device on the power supply line is
recommended. For more detailed information, contact a trusted
electrician.

The power plug must be equipped with a grounding conductor.
Any e
xtension cords must be of equal or greater length than the
power cord on the machine
(



5.2
Using the knife

Loosen the two screws of the adjustable guard and adjust the length so it is abutting with
the piece to be
cut and entirely cover the part of the blade not used for cutting
polystyrene. After positioning the guard securely tighten the two screws to prevent
unwanted movement.
Burns
Do not use the knife with the extendible guard out of position. Always positi
on the guard so it
is abutting with the piece to be cut. Serious injuries and burns could occur.

Connect the power plug

Rotate the temperature selection wheel from 0 to the desired temperature. The numbers
on the wheel correspond to the following temperat
ures:
Level 1: 70°C
Level 2: 150°C
Level 3: 260°C
Level 4: 390°C
Level 5: 450°C
Wait approximately one minute to allow the blade to reach the selected temperature.

Always keep the blade clean

Only hold the knife by the handle and put it down in
such a
way that the blade is not touching any object
or surface.

After finishing work let the knife cool down. This
process can take several minutes.
Never immerse
it in water to avoid the risk of electric shock.

When not in use always rest the knife on its spe
cial
stand to allow it to cool without touching any
flammable surfaces.
