Flowtron BK-7 Installation and operating instructions

Electronic Insect Killer
Installation & Maintenance Instructions for Model BK-7
General Information
Your Flowtron Electronic Insect Killer attracts light
sensitive flying insects with its high intensity ultraviolet
light. As insects fly toward the light, they pass through
an electronically charged killing grid and are eliminat-
ed without the use of chemical fogs or sprays.
Installation
1. Unpack the insect killer. Save the carton and fillers.
Use them for storage during off-season months.
2. Choose a sturdy mounting device from which to
hang the unit. If permanent installation is desired,
check your local electrical codes and see a profes-
sional electrician.
3. Hang the insect killer at a height of six to eight feet
above the ground.
4. Place the unit 25 to 50 feet away from the area
intended for human activity. Position the insect killer
between the source of insects (woods, lowlands,
etc.) and the area to be protected.
5. Plug the power cord into a grounded outdoor outlet
or a U.L. listed 18 gauge extension cord. The bulb
will emit a bluish glow within a few seconds.
Note: Bulb may flicker slightly when insects are
being destroyed. This is normal operation.
Extension Cords
Outdoor extension cords may be used with the
Flowtron insect killer. Use extension cords marked
SJW-A or SJTW-A and tagged “suitable for use with
outdoor appliances.''
The electrical rating of the extension cord must be as
great as the electrical rating of your Flowtron insect
killer.
Appropriate extension cords and devices for retaining
an extension cord connection to the Flowtron insect
killer power cord are available at your local dealer.
Maintenance
Cleaning: To reduce the risk of fire and to ensure
continued and efficient operation of the bug killer,
clean insect debris from the killing grid and from the
bottom of the unit. This should be done frequently
using a small soft brush or blower such as a portable
hair dryer, or the exhaust attachment of a vacuum
cleaner.
Be sure to unplug the unit before cleaning. Do not
clean your insect killer with a water spray or the like.
Bulb Replacement
1. Disconnect unit from electric source.
2. Pull bulb down out of its socket.
3. Insert replacement ultraviolet bulb
into socket.
1.Do not insert foreign objects into the unit.
2.Always disconnect the unit before cleaning,
servicing, handling or disassembling unit.
3.Clean dead insects from bottom of unit
frequently to reduce risk of fire.
4.Keep extension cord connections dry and off
the ground.
5.Do not abuse power cord. Never carry unit by
cord or yank cord to disconnect from recepta-
cle. Keep power cord from heat, oil and sharp
edges. Repair or replace damaged cord.
6.Do not clean with water spray or the like.
7. For outdoor use only. Store indoors when not
in use – out of reach of children.
