acquaint you with your new Flowtron Electronic Insect Killer.
OPERATION
Your insect killer is designed to attract light-sensitive flying insects and to kill them cleanly. As insects fly
toward the light, they are killed when they pass through the electrically charged grid. The outer protective
enclosure prevents children, pets and wildlife from coming in contact with the charged grid. The Flowtron
electronic insect killer will not be damaged by rain or moisture. If during heavy rains excessive arcing
occurs and is objectionable, simple disconnect unit.

3. Never place fingers or hands, or insert any objects into the unit while it is connected to an electrical outlet.
4. Always disconnect the unit before cleaning, servicing, handling or disassembling unit.
5. Clean dead insects from bottom of unit frequently to reduce risk of fire.
6. Connect unit to properly grounded outlet only.
7. Keep extension cord connections dry and off the ground.
8. Do not abuse power cord. Never carry unit by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle.
9. Keep power cord from heat, oil and sharp edges

TWO YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
Flowtron warrants your electronic insect killer to be free from defects in materials or workmanship under normal use and service for two years from date of original purchase. All
parts which are defective, except for burned out bulbs, will be repaired free of charge. Any implied warranties, including the implied warranty of merchantability are also limited
in duration to the two year period from the original purchase date.
The provisions of this warranty shall not apply to any Flowtron Electronic Insect killer which has been subject to misuse, neglect or accident, nor which is used for a purpose for
which it is not designed, or which shall have been repaired or altered in any way so as to adversely affect its performance and reliability. Service by unauthorized parties voids
your warranty. Warranty covers only the original purchaser. Commercial and/or professional use is excluded from warranty coverage.
Flowtron neither assumes nor authorizes any person to assume for it any other liability in connection with its product. No responsibility is assumed for any consequential
damages that may result from the use of a Flowtron product, nor for damages due to accident, abuse, lack of responsible care, the affixing of any unauthorized
attachment, loss of parts or subjecting this unit to any but the specified voltage.

8. Manipuler correctement le cordon d’alimentation électrique, sans en abuser. Ne jamais transporter l’unité par
le cordon, ni tirer le cordon pour débrancher l’unité.
9. Maintenir le cordon d’alimentation électrique à l’écart de la chaleur, de l’huile ou de rebords coupants.

INSTALLATION
1. Unpack the insect killer. Save the carton and fillers.
Use them for storage during off-season months.
2. Choose a sturdy mounting device from which to hang
the unit. If permanent installation is desired check your
local electrical codes and see a professional electrician.
3. Plug the electric cord into a grounded three-wire,18
gauge extension cord suitable for outdoor use. The
bulb(s) will emit a bluish glow within a few seconds.
A momentary spark may occur on the killing grid. If it
continues, note the sparks location, unplug the unit and
with an insulated screwdriver adjust the grid spacing.
Note: Bulb may flicker slightly when arc occurs across
killing grid. This is normal operation.
OCTENOL MOSQUITO ATTRACTANT
U.S. Government and university researchers have
demonstrated that octenol, a component of respiration, is
effective in attracting many species of mosquitoes. Your
Flowtron Electronic Însect Killer uses an exclusive slow-
release Octenol mosquito attractant cartridge (MA-1000)
which increases the effectiveness of the insect killer to
lure mosquitoes into its killing grid.
Directions for Use:
Remove the octenol cartridge from the sealed pouch and
peel the protective cover from the face of the cartridge.
Avoid touching the openings in the cartridge and always
wash your hands thoroughly after
contact.
Installation:
Remove the double face tape from the
pouch and peel the backing paper
off one side of the tape. Press the
tape to the bottom of the cartridge,
(side opposite the openings).
Peel the backing paper from the
other side of the tape and press the
cartridge firmly into the bulb retainer
at the bottom of the enclosure
(see illustration).
Operation:
When your insect killer is on it will provide the heat and
convective air flow to vaporize the lure and disperse it at
the proper rate per hour for maximum effectivity. For best
results replace the cartridge every 30 days.
LOCATION
Hang the insect killer at a height of two to three metres
above the ground. This is the flying altitude for many light-
sensitive insects.
Place the unit 8 to 15 metres away from the area intended
for human activity. Locate the insect killer between the
source of insects (woods, lowlands, etc.) and the area to
be protected.
MAINTENANCE
Other than the recommended cleaning and bulb replace-
ment, no further user maintenance should be necessary.
Cleaning:
Clean your insect killer as required. The bulb should be
cleaned periodically because dust build-up will inhibit
ultraviolet light output. Clean with a small brush or blow
out dead insects using a blower such as a portable hair
dryer or the exhaust attachment of a vacuum cleaner.
BULB REPLACEMENT
The ultraviolet light that is most effective in attracting
insects is invisible to the human eye. It is produced by a
special coating inside the fluorescent bulb glass. Since this
light can deteriorate over time, bulbs should be replaced
every season to ensure maximum UV output .
1. Disconnect unit from electric source.
2. Depress latch and remove plastic cover at base of unit.
3. Bulb can now be pulled down out of the upper socket.
4. Insert replacement bulb into upper socket.
5. Replace plastic bulb cover and secure latch.

Troubleshooting and Repair Analysis
Caution: unplug unit before servicing

Any problems you encounter that are not corrected by the action recommended in this chart should be referred to the Flowtron Service Department.
INSTALLATION
1. Déballez l’exterminateur d’insectes. Conservez la boîte et

3. Branchez le cordon d’alimentation électrique dans un cor-
don de rallonge extérieur muni d’une fiche à trois ouver-
tures et d’une mise à la terre ou dans un cordon de ral-
longe de calibre 18, convenant à un usage extérieur.
L’ampoule(s) émettra une lueur bleutée en quelques sec-
ondes. Il peut momentanément se produire une étincelle
sur la grille. Si ce phénomène se poursuit, notez l’em-
placement des étincelles, débranchez l’unité et à l’aide
d’un tournevis isolé, réglez l’espacement de la grille.
Remarque: L’ampoule peut clignoter légèrement, lorsque
l’arc se produit à travers la grille. Il s’agit d’un phénomène
normal.
APPÂT À L’OCTENOL POUR MOUSTIQUES
Des chercheurs universitaires et du gouvernement américain
ont démontré que l’octenol, un composant de la respiration
humaine, représente un appât efficace pour plusieurs
espèces de moustiques. Votre exterminateur électronique
pour insectes de Flowtron utilise une cartouche exclusive
d’appât à l’octenol (MA-1000) à libération retardée, qui
accroît l’efficacité de l’exterminateur d’insectes, à les attirer
vers la grille d’extermination.
Directives d’utilisation :
Retirez la cartouche d’octenol de son emballage scellé et
décollez l’étiquette adhésive de protection, recouvrant la car-
touche. Évitez de toucher aux ouvertures de la cartouche et
lavez-vous bien les mains, après
l’avoir manipulée.
Installation :
Retirez le ruban adhésif à double face
de l’emballage et retirez le papier pro-
tecteur sur l’un des côtés du ruban
adhésif. Pressez le ruban adhésif sur
la partie inférieure de la cartouche
(côté opposé aux ouvertures).
Retirez le papier protecteur de l’autre
côté du ruban et pressez fermement la
cartouche à l’intérieur du dispositif de
retenue de l’ampoule, situé dans la
base du boîtier (Voir illustration).
Fonctionnement :
Lorsque l’exterminateur est allumé, il procurera la chaleur et
par convection le courant d’air chaud, pour vaporiser l’appât
et le disperser à la vitesse de déplacement horaire appro-
priée, pour en optimiser l’efficacité. Pour obtenir de meilleurs
résultats, remplacez la cartouche à tous les 30 jours.
EMPLACEMENT
Suspendez l’exterminateur pour insectes à une hauteur de
deux ou trois mètres au-dessus du sol. Il s’agit de l’altitude
de vol pour plusieurs insectes sensibles à la lumière.
Installez l’unité à une distance de 8 à 15 mètres de l’endroit
où se déroule normalement l’activité humaine. Placez l’exter-
minateur pour insectes, entre le lieu de provenance des
insectes (bois, terrains bas, etc.) et le secteur à protéger.
ENTRETIEN:
Mis à part les recommandations de nettoyage et de rem-
placement d’ampoule, aucun autre entretien ne devrait être
nécessaire de la part de l’utilisateur.
Nettoyage :
Nettoyez votre exterminateur d’insectes, selon le besoin.
L’ampoule devrait être nettoyée régulièrement, puisque l’ac-
cumulation de poussière entravera la diffusion de la lumière
ultraviolette. Nettoyez les insectes morts à l’aide d’une petite
brosse ou soufflez-les, en utilisant un séchoir à cheveux ou
la sortie d’évacuation d’air d’un aspirateur.
REMPLACEMENT D’AMPOULE
La lumière ultraviolette la plus efficace pour attirer les
insectes, demeure invisible à l’œil humain. Ce phénomène
est produit par l’application d’un enduit spécial, à l’intérieur
du verre de l’ampoule fluorescente. Cette lumière perdra ses
caractéristiques avec le temps; ainsi, les ampoules devraient
être remplacées à chaque saison pour assurer le maximum
de diffusion des rayons UV.
1. Débranchez l’unité de la source électrique.
2. Abaissez le loquet et retirez le couvercle en plastique,
situé à la base de l’unité.
3. L’ampoule peut maintenant être tirée vers le bas, hors de
la douille supérieure.
4. Insérez l’ampoule de remplacement dans la douille
supérieure.
5. Replacez le couvercle en plastique protégeant l’ampoule

PROBLÈME
A. Les ampoules ne s’allument pas et il n’y a pas dehaute
tension sur la grille
B. Les ampoules s’allument, mais il n’y a pas de haute tension
sur la grille
C. Présence intermittente ou continuelle d’étincelles entre les
grilles.
D. Les ampoules s’allument, mais n’attire plus les insectes.
CAUSE POSSIBLE
1. Il n’y a pas de courant électrique.
2. L’ampoule(s) n’est pas installée correctement.
3. Le démarreur est défectueux.
4. L’ampoule(s) est brûlée.
1. Les grilles sont court-circuitées.
1. L’espace entre les tiges de grille est trop étroit.
2. La grille est bloquée par un corps étranger.
3. La grille n’est pas bien installée dans l’isolateur.
1. La diffusion de la lumière noire est réduite, dû
au vieillissement de l’ampoule.
CORRECTIF
1. Vérifiez le fusible ou le disjoncteur. Vérifiez le cordon de rallonge, si utilisé.
2. Vérifiez toutes les douilles pour vous assurer d’une installation et d’un aligne-
ment adéquats.
3. Remplacez si nécessaire.

1. Examinez la grille pour vous assurer qu’elle sera libre de corps étrangers, de
saleté ou d’une accumulation d’insectes morts.
2. Assurez-vous que les tiges adjacentes de la grille ne se touchent pas. Utilisez
un tournevis isolé.
1. Débranchez l’unité et ajustez la grille, en pliant pour bien aligner, à l’aide de la
lame d’un tournevis isolé.
2. Nettoyez la grille à l’aide d’un appareil soufflant.
3. Assurez-vous que la grille est installée correctement, sur chacun des isolateurs.
