FDS-KIT SPEED5
How to install the Full Depower Safety

By default, the SPEED5 is equipped with a frontline safety
(FLS). The FDS-System enables you to fly your SPEED5
with an additional 5th line. In an emergency situation, just
activate your Quick Release. The kite will flag out on the
5th line and will come to rest on the water or land in its
normal windrange. Follow the instructions carefully!
ATTENTION! Each FDS-Kit is made
for a specific kite size. Never use this
kit for a dierent-size kite, otherwise
your safety can not be guaranteed!

ATTACHMENT POINTS
FDS-SETUP

1. Disconnect the big steel ring from the FLS-endline. Pull the FLS-endline through the Quick Release, Bar
Eyelet and Guidance Block or steel ring(s). Next disconnect the Safety-endline from the Frontline.

2. Loop the five pink LCL around the attachment points. Take the white FDS-toplines named FDS-A, FDS-B,
FDS-C, FDS-D and FDS-BR and connect them to the corresponding pink LCL with a larks head knot.

3. Loop the FDS-extension through the end of all five FDS-toplines. Make sure that the FDS-toplines are
lined up one after the other. Finally thighten this connection.
4. Remove the original stopper knot on the Safety-endline.* Make a figure of eight knot on the spliced part of
the line (before the elastic part).
* The position of the original stopper knot varies with dierent control bar generations and systems.

5. Connect the red FDS-flyingline with the Safety-endline and the small steel ring as shown in pictures
below. Pull the red line through the loop on the Safety-endline and tighten the connection.
6. Disconnect the right frontline, pull it through the
ring and then reconnect it to the kite.
7. Using a larks head knot, connect the red FDS-
extension from point 3 to the FDS-flyingline. This
connection allows you to change the control bar and
flying lines to another size SPEED5 with FDS System.

8. Push the end of the Safety-endline through the steel ring(s) (NOT Guidance Block), Bar Eyelet, and Quick
Release. Finally, reconnect the end of the line to the steel ring using a larks head knot.

Make a testflight in light wind before use!
Make sure the stopper knot on the safety-
endline can´t be pulled through the Quick
Release and that the safety-system is free
of tension while flying the kite.
