5. Um mögliche Hörschäden zu vermeiden, sollten Sie über die Lautsprecher
nicht über einen längeren Zeitraum mit hoher Lautstärke hören. Das Hören
über Lautsprecher kann das Ohr des Benutzers schädigen und Hörprobleme
verursachen (vorübergehende oder dauerhafte Taubheit, Ohrensausen, Tinnitus,
Hyperakusis). Wenn die Ohren länger als eine Stunde übermäßiger Lautstärke
(mehr als 85 dB) ausgesetzt werden, kann dies zu irreversiblen Hörschäden
führen.
6. Verwenden Sie ausschließlich die mitgelieferten Kabel oder Kabelbäume und
das auf ordnungsgemäße Weise (nur wie in dieser Anleitung beschrieben). Diese

Conditions de garantie
La garantie pour la France sur tout matériel Focal est de 2 ans. En
cas de matériel défectueux, celui-ci doit être expédié à vos frais,
dans son emballage d’origine auprès du revendeur, lequel analysera
le matériel et déterminera la nature de la panne. Si celui-ci est sous
garantie, le matériel sera réparé ou remplacé et vous sera rendu.
Dans le cas contraire, un devis de réparation vous sera proposé.
La garantie ne couvre pas les dommages résultant d’une mauvaise
utilisation ou d’un branchement incorrect (bobines mobiles brûlées
par exemple...). En dehors de la France, le matériel Focal est couvert
par une garantie dont les conditions sont fixées localement par le
distributeur officiel Focal de chaque pays, en accord avec les lois en
vigueur sur le territoire concerné.

Généralités
Sans alimentation, HILO transforme les sorties haut-parleurs
amplifiées de votre autoradio d’origine ou aftermarket, en un signal
bas-niveau sur sorties RCA. Il devient dès lors possible de connecter
un amplificateur à n’importe quel autoradio afin d’améliorer
considérablement les performances de son système audio.
Si HILO est alimenté en 12 V, en plus de la conversion du signal
audio, il générera aussi une sortie remote (télécommande)
automatique indispensable à la mise sous tension et à l’extinction
des amplificateurs connectés.
Un convertisseur HILO permet de traiter deux canaux. Si l’on
souhaite utiliser deux amplis, il faudra utiliser deux convertisseurs
HILO.
Pour repiquer le signal audio, deux solutions sont possibles :
A. Branchement direct sur les sorties haut-niveau pour les convertir
en sorties RCA : on utilise cette configuration pour brancher
un amplificateur deux canaux pour les haut-parleurs avant par
exemple.
B. Branchement en parallèle sur les faisceaux HP avant ou arrière :
On utilise cette solution pour récupérer le signal sonore et le
rediriger vers un système de grave amplifié. Cela permet de laisser
les haut-parleurs directement branchés sur l’autoradio.
Branchement passif
Cela signifie que l’on n’alimente pas le convertisseur HILO en
électricité (+12 V). On repique uniquement le signal audio des
sorties HP pour les transformer en sorties RCA.
On utilise cette solution lorsque l’ampli n’a pas besoin de remote
pour s’allumer. Ce type d’ampli possède une fonction « auto-
power», pour s’allumer par détection du signal sonore.

Branchement actif
Dans ce cas de figure, on alimente électriquement le convertisseur
HILO pour qu’il génère un remote +12V pour allumer l’ampli. Le
repiquage du signal audio se fait de la même façon qu’en mode
passif.
On utilise ce mode pour les amplis sans fonction « auto-power»
et nécessitant obligatoirement un remote pour s’allumer. Les
autoradios d’origine ne possédant généralement pas de remote
+12V, c’est le convertisseur HILO qui va le générer.

Ce sélecteur de détection permet de s’adapter à tous les autoradios
d’origine.
- DC : Tester ce réglage en priorité, si il fonctionne parfaitement, il
est à privilégier. Il convient à la plupart des autoradio OEM ayant
une tension continue.
- AUDIO : Réglage alternatif, à utiliser si la fonction « DC » ne
fonctionne pas. Il convient à certains autoradios sans tension de
sortie continue « DC » (minorité des autoradios OEM).

Code couleur du faisceau HILO
Branchez le faisceau du convertisseur HILO sur les bons fils par
épissure/soudure ou cosses à sertir, sans oublier de les isoler s'ils ne
le sont pas. Connectez ensuite seulement, le convertisseur HILO sur
son faisceau. Raccordez le câble RCA et le remote si nécessaire. Les
branchements doivent se faire contact coupé et autoradio éteint.

Active connection
In this scenario, electricity is supplied to the HILO converter so that
it generates a +12V remote control to power on the amp. The audio
signal is picked up in the same way as in passive mode.
This mode is used for amps with no “auto-power” function that
require a remote control to power on. Since original car radios do
not usually have a +12V remote control, the HILO converter will
generate it.

This detection selector allows you to adapt to any original car radio.
- DC: Test this setting first and foremost; if it works perfectly, select
it. It is suitable for most OEM car radios with direct voltage.
- AUDIO: Alternative setting, to be used if the “DC” function does
not work. It is suitable for some car radios without “DC” direct
output voltage (the minority of OEM car radios).

General information
Without a power supply, HILO transforms the amplified speaker
driver outputs from your original or aftermarket car radio into a
low-level signal on RCA outputs. It is now possible to connect an
amplifier to any car radio to drastically improve the performance
of its audio system.
If HILO is powered in 12V, in addition to converting the audio signal
it will also generate an automatic remote control output, essential
for powering on and off connected amplifiers.
A HILO converter enables handling of two channels. If you wish to
use two amplifiers, you will need to use two HILO converters.
To transfer the audio signal, there are two possible solutions:
A. Direct connection to the high-level outputs to convert them
into RCA outputs: use this configuration to connect a two-channel
amplifier for front speaker drivers, for example.
B. Parallel connection to front or rear speaker driver wiring
harnesses: This solution is used to pick up the sound signal for an
amplified bass system. This allows you to leave the speaker drivers
connected to the car radio.
Passive connection
This means that you are not supplying electricity to the HILO
converter (+12V). You are only picking up the audio signal from
the speaker driver outputs to transform them into RCA low level
outputs.
This solution is used when the amp does not need a remote control
to power on. This type of amp has an “autopower” function to
power on via sound signal detection.

Colour code for HILO wiring harness
Connect the HILO converter wiring harness to the correct wires by
splicing/soldering or crimping, without forgetting to insulate them
if they are not already. Then simply connect the HILO converter to
its wiring harness. Connect the RCA extension if the remote control
is necessary. Connections should be made with the ignition off and
car radio switched off.
White: + left speaker
White/Black: - left speaker
Blue: Remote
Grey/Black: - right speaker
Grey: + right speaker
Black: Ground
Yellow: + 12V permanent
