that are given. Keep the manual for future reference.
SECURIT AND THE ENVIRONMENT
E ECTRICA SECURITY
Check that the current in the mains connection where the machine is to be installed corresponds to the
power supply of the machine.
To avoid damaging the equipment, electrical shocks, fire or physical injury when you connect or disconnect
the equipment from the power supply, pull the plug firmly out of the mains socket holding the plug, never the
cable.
Always do this with dry hands.
Keep the power supply cable far from sources of heat. Do not put heavy objects on top of it or change it.
Clean dust and dirt off the power supply cable regularly.
Do not open the machine; you could get an electric shock.
CAUTION
While installing the machine, make sure it is switched off and unplugged.
Do not open the machine. Touching the internal parts is dangerous and you could receive an electric shock.
The machine must not be splashed or dripped on. Never place recipients with liquid inside on the machine.
Do not place anything inside the machine.
OCATION
Place the equipment on a horizontal surface with enough space around it to allow ventilation.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and excessive dust.
Do not place the machine near magnetic fields or static electricity.
Do not use surfaces which vibrate or receive impact.
Do not pile machines on top of one another.
VENTI ATION
Never block or cover the ventilation slits on the machine.
Do not expose it to direct sunlight or place it near sources of heat.
PERIODS OF INACTIVITY
When the machine is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
If you are using an adapter, take into account that it will continue using electricity even if the machine is
switched off. If it is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
THE ENVIRONMENT
To save energy, switch the machine off when you are not going to use it for a long time. The machine could
contain substances that are harmful to the environment or human health. To minimize the effect of these
substances the machine must be correctly managed and recycled when you decide to dispose of it.
When you dispose of it remember: it cannot be thrown into a conventional rubbish bin.
If it contains or uses batteries, these must be disposed of separately.
The machine (without batteries) must be disposed of correctly. Put it in a container specially intended for the
collection of electronic and electrical appliances, at the dump or hand it over to the dealer when you purchase
similar equipment, so that the dealer can dispose of it correctly (at no added cost).

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE S MBOLS ON THE MACHINE*
The symbol formed by the expression “Class 1 laser product” written in a rectangle
indicates that visible or invisible laser radiation could be produced. Avoid direct expose to
the laser.
The symbol formed by a ray of lightening inside a triangle shows that the machine has
connection terminals or a circuit with areas with a current which could cause an electric
shock, even in normal working conditions.
The symbol formed by an exclamation mark in a triangle shows that the instruction manual
must be referred to for information on how the machine works and its use.
The symbol formed by one square inside another square shows that the machine has
double electrical insulation.
The European Community symbol shows that the machine complies with the current
European Union legislation, as well as its transposition to local legislation.
The symbol of a rubbish bin crossed out and over a horizontal line shows that when the
product is disposed of it must be done properly, placing it in a special selective electronic
and electrical equipment container or through a dealer when purchasing a similar product,
at no additional cost. It also shows that the machine was put on the market after 13th
August 2005 (European Community Directive 2002/96/CE of Electrical and Electronic
recycling, and its Spanish equivalent R.D.208/2005).
In accordance with what is set out in the aforementioned decree, FONESTAR is registered
in the RAEE (Registro de Aparatos Eléctricos y Electrónicos) in a special section REI
(Registro de establecimientos Industriales), with the entry number 001851.
*It is possible that some of these symbols do not appear on the machine.

DESCRIPTION
Portable megaphone 10 W RMS with siren, USB/SD/MP3 player, message recorder and rechargeable lithium
battery. It has input for 12 V DC.
Equipped with hand-held microphone with extension lead, it has a long range due to its high power output.
FONESTAR megaphones are light and suitable for all types of use: portable PA, police, fire service, lifeguards,
sports competitions, rallies, political demonstrations, etc.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GENERAL USE
The amplified sound or the siren can damage human hearing. Do not use this megaphone near to other pe-
ople’s ears.
When the megaphone is not going to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries and store them
separately, as otherwise the batteries could decompose inside the megaphone causing serious damage.
Never leave the megaphone in direct sunlight or close to a source of heat for a long time.
To clean the outer part of the megaphone only use a fine cloth and mild detegent, never use an abrasive pro-
duct or solvent.
POWERING THE MEGAPHONE
The megaphone mod. MF-600SGU can operate with the rechargeable lithium battery it is provided with, by
8 R14-C type batteries or be powered by 12 V DC in the available input (2).
RECHARGEABLE BATTER POWER
Before using the battery for the first time, it must be charged. In order to charge, remove the battery, take
the connectors out of the socket and connect it to a mains supply. Respect its charging time of approximately
4 hours. For subsequent recharging, it is neccessary to take the battery out of the megaphone and charge
it separately.
The ED battery indicator will remain permanenetly lit while it is connected to the power supply and
throughout the recharging period.
Note: do not charge the battery inside the megaphone.
Once the battery is charged, insert it in the compartment in the rear part of the megaphone. In order to do
so, open the closing hinge and insert the battery making sure that it makes contact correctly.
BATTER POWER
It is possible to power the megaphone with 8 alkaline batteries or rechargeable batteries type R14-C.
Note: do not charge the rechargeable batteries inside the megaphone.
In order to use the megaphone with batteries, open the compartment on the rear part releasing the closing
hinge. Insert the batteries according to the polarity indications on the battery compartment label.
12 V DC POWER SUPPL
Your megaphone can be powered without the need for batteries using 12 V DC, for example in a car. In order
to do so, insert the connector in the jack on the outer part of the megaphone just above the handle (2).
Note: do not use the 12 V DC power supply with the batteries installed in the megaphone.

OPERATING
To activate the megaphone, place the switch (3) in the SPEAK position and squeeze the trigger located on
the front part of the device’s handle. Press and hold to be able to speak through the microphone. If you wish
to speak through the hand-held microphone, place the switch in the ON position.
When using the megaphone, put your lips as near as possible to the hand-held microphone slot. Adjust the
volume using the corresponding control on the hand-held microphone to a level where there is no distortion
or coupling when operating the megaphone.
The MF-600SGU megaphone is equipped with a siren which is activated by pressing the SIREN button on the
hand-held microphone or placing the switch on the handle (3) in the SIREN position. To deactivate the siren,
put the switch on the handle back in the SPEAK position.
Furthermore, it has a USB/SD player and an aux input to play music files in MP3 format. In order to use the
USB/SD player and the megaphone aux input, place the switch on the handle (4) in the USB/SD position.
CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS
1.- Megaphone microphone. For more information, consult the Hand-held microphone section.
2.- Connector for 12 V DC.
3.- Megaphone operating mode switch: USB/SD, SPEAK or SIREN.
4.- LED: ED operating mode indicator. It lights up red when the USB/SD player is selected with the switch
(3). The indicator will flash if the USB/SD player or the SD memory card is used. If audio is being played
through the aux input, the indicator will remain permanently lit in red.
5.- M: button to select the input you wish to play. Press the button repeatedly to change among the different
connected inputs (USB, SD or aux input).
6.- SD memory card connection slot.
7.- USB storage device connection port.
8.- Aux input, 3.5 mm jack connection port.
9.- 7/V- / 8/V+: in USB/SD mode, a short press of these buttons allows moving to the previous/next
track; a long press allows the volume to be reduced/increased.
In AUX mode, a long press allows the volume to be reduced/increased.
10.- 12: button to start and pause playback.
Note: this button only operates in USB/SD mode, not in AUX mode.

HAND-HELD MICROPHONE
1.- SIREN: a short press of this button activates the siren until it is pressed again to deactivate it.
2.- ED indicator which remains lit in red while the hand-held microphone switch (6) is in the ON position.
3.- REC: one press of this button starts the recording of a message lasting 15 seconds maximum. In order
to interrupt the message recording press the REC button again. The ED indicator (5) will remain lit
throughout the recording of the message.
4.- PLA : one press of this button repeatedly plays the message stored in the memory. In order to interrupt
playback press this button again.
5.- ED indicator which remains lit in red throughout the recording of a message.
6.- ON/OFF: hand-held microphone on/off switch.
7.- VOLUME: megaphone signal volume control.

WARRANT
This product has been tested and has passed the corresponding quality control prior to being put on the market.
FONESTAR guarantees the suitability of the product for its specified use during a period of 2 years from the delivery date
and commits itself to repair or substitute the goods as expressed in the Spanish law ‘ a ey General para la Defensa de los
Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto egislativo 1/2007 16 Noviembre.
The lack of conformity in the first six months after purchase, due to a manufacturing defect, will be rectified with no more
than showing the proof of purchase. After six months FONESTAR reserves the right to demand proof of the product being
sold with that problem.
This warranty does not include damage produced by: inappropriate use or negligence, accidents, worn out parts due to use,
breakages, burns, spilt liquids or other substances, excessive humidity, battery deterioration and internal manipulation of the
device, the software or its components by unauthorized persons, and in general any use that is unrelated to the nature and
purpose of the product.
If any service is needed during the warranty period because of lack of conformity, please contact the business or distributor
where the product was purchased in no more than 2 months after being conscious of the problem. It is only necessary to
contact FONESTAR if it is impossible or imposes an undue burden for them to solve it..
To benefit from this warranty it is necessary to show the proof of purchase with the date clearly visible, with no corrections
or crossing out
