3. Package contents
1x PR series DSP amplifier
1x Neutrik ® powerCON True1 cord
4. Product Specifications
The PR series amplifier is an 1…4 input channel to 2…8 output channel DSP controlled class D power amplifier. It
is mainly intended for fixed sound installations and suitable even in surroundings where low operational noise is
relevant. Due to its cooling concept with large heatsink and ultra-low noise fans the amplifier remains quiet even
under full load conditions.
The input channel configuration is represented by the product name PR__x1000-2-DSP. Unless otherwise
mentioned all content of this manual is valid for all versions of the amplifier.
Main features:
500 W per output channel
Analog, digital AES and optional Dante signal inputs
One input is split into two outputs for active crossover usage
Available as 1…4 input version (equals 2, 4, 6, 8 power amplifiers)
Ultra low noise operation (suitable for cinema applications)
PFC (power factor correction)

6. PC software
Please contact Four Audio for the PC software and the firmware files. Contact information is provided at the end
of this manual.
6.1. Driver installation
When you first plug a USB cable into the amplifier, you’ll need to install the USB
driver. This needs to be done only once and not for every amplifier channel.
1. Download the drivers and unzip the package.
2. Open the Windows Device Manager and navigate to a device named VCOM,
located in Other Devices (Fig. 1).
3. Right-click the VCOM device and choose Update Driver Software (Fig. 2).
4. Click Browse my computer for driver software
5. Navigate to the directory with the unzipped driver files and click OK.
6. A warning will appear (Fig. 3) stating that the driver is not signed by
Microsoft. The driver will be signed soon. In the meantime, you can safely
choose the second option and install the software anyway.

6.2. Firmware Update
To update the PR4x1000-2-DSP’s firmware follow these steps:
1. Open the Four Audio PPA software.
2. Connect to the desired amplifier via USB and turn on the amplifier.
3. Choose the Serial Port in the drop down list (Fig. 4). Only serial ports connected to PR amplifiers will be
shown.
4. After the connection is established the Firmware Update button will appear (Fig. 5). Click on this button.
5. A new drive named CRP DISABLE (or PPA-FWU in more recent versions) will appear in the Windows
Explorer
6. This drive contains one file called “firmware.bin”. Delete this file.
7. Copy the new firmware file to the drive. You don’t need to rename the file.
8. You may disconnect the USB cable after the file transfer is completed.
9. Repeat step 2…8 for all amplifier channels
10. Power-cycle the amp. In all displays the new firmware version is shown at the header of the display.
