INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing a Furman Presge Series P-2300 IT E Balanced Power Condioner, and congratulaons on your choice. The
P-2300 IT E features a specially wound and shielded toroidal balanced isolaon transformer specically designed to reduce hum pickup
by sensive equipment when ultra-low-noise is a must. Addionally, Furman’s revoluonary Series Mul-stage Protecon (SMP) cir-
cuits, as well as our exclusive Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) are combined to ensure what our customers have grown to expect from
Furman - uncompromised protecon and puricaon. The Furman P-2300 IT E has been precisely engineered to more than meet the
crical demands of audio/video professionals, contractors, broadcasters, and musicians alike.
DESCRIPTION
Designed for the most crical, ultra-low noise installaons, the P-2300 IT E can supply 10 amps of balanced AC power for recording
studios, broadcast staons, video producon facilies, or any environment requiring a studio quality signal to noise rao.
To understand the incredible need for clean, noise-free AC power, it’s important to note that today’s sophiscated studio equipment
features tremendous dynamic range. Most of the signal content that denes high resoluon audio, (such as harmonics, instrument
mbre, high frequency extension, spaal cues, and fast transient aacks) is inherently low in signal level. Further, when AC noise is
induced into audio processors, pre-ampliers, microphones, powered monitors, computers, and mixing consoles, the all important low
level signals are distorted or masked!
Once signals are masked there is no way to retrieve the lost content. Advanced AC ltering is crical when audio or video resoluon is
at stake. With Furman’s P-2300 IT E, you will hear audio content and see video images as they were meant to be - prisne.
SMP (Series Mul-Stage Protecon) with EVS (Extreme Voltage Shutdown)
Furman’s SMP surge suppression virtually eliminates service calls and costly “down me”. Tradional surge suppression circuits sacri-
ce themselves when exposed to mulple transient voltage spikes, requiring the dismantling of your system, and repair of your surge
suppressor. Not so with Furman’s SMP. With SMP, damaging transient voltages are safely absorbed, clamped, and dissipated. Your
connected equipment is protected, while your Furman protects itself!
Unique to Furman’s SMP is its unparalleled clamping voltage. While other designs oer clamping voltages that are well above 600
Vpk, Furman’s SMP clamps at 376 Vpk, (266 VAC RMS) even when tested with mulple 6000 Vpk - 3000 amp surges! This unprec-
edented level of protecon is only available with Furman’s SMP technology. Addionally, Furman’s trusted over-voltage (EVS) circuitry
protects against all too frequent accidental connecons to 300+ VAC, or intermient neutral from a mul-phase power source. It does
so by shung o the incoming power unl the over voltage condion is corrected, and the power switch is reset.
LiFT (Linear Filtering Technology)
Unfortunately, tradional AC lter - condioners have been designed for unrealisc laboratory condions. Prior technologies, whether
mulple pole lters or convenonal series mode, could actually harm audio and video performance more than they help, due to the
resonant peaking of their anquated, non-linear designs. Under certain condions, these designs can actually add more than 10 dB
of noise to the incoming AC line! Worse sll, lost digital data, the need to re-boot digital pre-sets, or destroyed digital converters are
frequently caused by excessive voltage spikes and AC noise contaminang the equipment ground. Furman’s SMP with LiFT takes a dif-
ferent approach, ensuring opmal performance through linear ltering and no contaminaon, or leakage to ground.
