ZP3 Planner Quick Guide
ZP3 Programming Menu Buttons
Menu key
1 Operator
2 Maintenance
3 Setup
Setup and maintenance menus will request access
codes to proceed. Default is code 2000*
(3000 and 4000 can also be used)
Enter key
Saves, accepts or selects
Escape key
Moves back by one menu level
Home key
Exits out of the menus, saving configuration
changes and returns to main screen.
Up / Down Arrow keys
Changes selected option

*If the default codes do not work they have been changed by revious installer. We
cannot default these codes and you must follow rocedure with UTC to reset the anel.
Connecting ZP3 panel to Planner
On the panel
Panel Num er
Select 3 [Setup] > 6 [System Configuration] > 1 [Panel Options] > 2 [Panel Num ers]
Panel number can also be changed
Software Version
Select 1 [Operator] > 2 [Reports to display] >2 [Software Version]
Panel Type
Panel ty e is best found by o ening the door and counting the loo s – it will be a
ZP3 EN4 either 1, 2 or 4 loo .
Set Z-Port 1 to work with Planner
Select 3 [Setup] > 6 [System Configuration]> 3 [Peripheral Comms] > 1 [Comms Parameters]
Set Protocol
Down arrow > Enter > Type 11 on num er keys or use up/down arrows until display is [11] –
ZCP3 then enter.
Set Baud Rate
Down arrow > Enter > Up / Down arrows until you select 9600 > Escape > Home
Connect RS232 cable to ort inside door of anel. Commissioning key must be
set to ON (test light will flash on anel front)

In Planner
Start Planner and Create a new roject (must give it a roject name)
Add asic panel details
In Panel Details:
•Panel number
•Panel ty e
•Software version

And select Save Changes button to add the new anel.
Set up communications ports
Inside Global Settings within Comms Settings:
•ZPORT 1 Protocol ZCP3/Planner
•Set Baud rate to 9600
You will also need to set the comm orts of your la to or PC that Planner needs
to work through. In Planner under the Link menu the COMM ort number in Set
Port Protocol must be the same as on your la to .
If you are using a USB to serial converter you will need to make sure that Planner
and your PC are both trying to use the same Comm Port.
On your laptop
Find Device Manager in your Control Panel. O en u the Ports sections and find
the ort that your USB serial device has selected.
In the ro erties Bits er Second is the same as Baud Rate on Planner and
should be set to 9600.
Click Advance for the comm ort number settings. The Comm Port should be
ideally between 1 and 4 but must match the Comm ort in Planner as er the
above instructions.

In Planner
Back in Link menu you can now Send Data to Panel and Receive Data from Panel.
