Prefa e
Baking with your new oven will be even more
fun than before.
The applian e offers you the following
advantages:
– SuperQuick feature for parti ularly fast heating
up.
– The applian e features CleanEmail and a
atalyti leaning fun tion for air leaning.
– The autopyrolysis fun tion automati ally
a hieves an optimum leaning result with a
redu ed energy onsumption.
To ensure that you will be able to use this
applian e in all its diversity, read through the
operating and assembly instru tions ons ien-
tiously before operating it for the first time. The
instru tions ontain important notes on use,
installation and maintenance of the applian e.
You will find notes on Page 3 that you ought to
observe before operating the appliance for the
first time.
The hapters entitled "Structure and operating
principle" and "Operation" will tell you all the
things your oven is apable of doing and how it is
operated.
The hapter entitled "Cleaning and care" will
make sure that your applian e will stay operable
and beautiful for a long time.
We have also ompiled some "Tips and tricks"
for you.

Important safeguards

1. a) Proper installation - Be sure your applian e
is properly installed and grounded by a
qualified ele tri ian.
b) Never use your appliance for warming or
heating the room.
) Do not leave children alone - Children
should not be left alone or unattended in areas
where the applian e is in use. They should
never be allowed to sit or stand on any part of
the applian e.
d) Wear proper apparel - Loose-fitting or
hanging garments should never be worn while
using the applian e.
e) User servicing - Do not repair or repla e any
part of the applian e unless spe ifi ally
re ommended in the manual. All other
servi ing should be referred to a qualified
te hni ian.
f) Storage in appliance - Flammable materials
should not be stored in an oven or near surfa e
units.
g) Do not use water on grease fires - Smother
fire or flame or use dry hemi al or foam type
extinguisher.
h) Use only dry pot holders - Moist or damp pot
holders on hot surfa es may result in burns
from steam. Do not let pot holders tou h hot
heating elements. Do not use a towel or other
bulky loth.
2. a) Use care when opening door - Let hot air or
steam es ape before removing or repla ing
food.
b) Do not heat unopened food containers -
Build-up of pressure may ause ontainer to
burst and result in injury.
) Keep oven vent ducts unobstructed.
d) Use care when using meat probe,
that it does not onta t any heating elements.
e) Placement of oven racks - Always pla e
oven ra ks in desired lo ation while oven is
ool. If ra k must be moved while oven is hot,
do not let pot holder onta t hot heating
element in oven.
f) Accessories supplied with this oven are
intended only for use in this oven.
3.DO NOT TOUCH HEATING ELEMENTS OR
INTERIOR SURFACES OF OVEN -
Heating elements may be hot even though they
are dark in olor. Interior surfa es of an oven
be ome hot enough to ause burns.
During and after use, do not tou h, or let lothing
or other flammable materials onta t heating
elements or interior surfa es of oven until they
have had suffi ient time to ool. Other surfa es of
the applian e may be ome hot enough to ause
burns.
4.a) Do not clean door gasket - The door gasket
is essential for a good seal. Care should be
taken not to rub, damage, or move the gasket.
b) Do not use oven cleaners - No ommer ial
oven leaner or oven liner prote tive oating of
any kind should be used in or around any part
of the oven.
) Clean only parts listed in manual.
d) Oven must be in the OFF position before
attempting to atta h or install any a essory.

1.1 For your safety
You must not operate the applian e if it is
damaged.
The applian e must only be onne ted by an
authorised specialist, paying attention to the
relevant regulations of the power supply ompanies
and the regional onstru tion regulations.
Observe the assembly instructions!
When connecting ele tri al applian es and
devi es in the proximity of ooking surfa es and
ovens, make sure that connecting cables do not
be ome jammed under the hot oven door or ome
into onta t with hot ooking surfa es.
As the user, you yourself are responsible for
maintenan e and proper use in the household.
Only ever operate the applian e under
supervision.
Caution: fire risk! Do not store any ombustible
items in your oven. During operation, only leave the
parts in the ooking ompartment that you a tually
need.
Caution ! The applian e and, until the ooling fan
is swit hed on, also the ontrol panel get hot during
operation. Keep hildren away !
Note: to avoid jeopardising the ele tri al safety of
the applian e, it is forbidden to use high-pressure
or steam jet leaning devi es.
The applian e must be isolated from the mains
during all maintenance. To this end, remove the
mains plug or a tuate the orresponding fuse.
Repairs may only be arried out by authorised
ele tri ians, in order to guarantee the safety of the
applian e.
No warranty claims an be lodged for any
damage resulting from failure to observe these
instru tions.

1.2 Operating for the first time
Before operating the applian e for the first time,
please pay attention to the following notes:
Read through these instru tions attentively before
operating your applian e for the first time.
The appliance must be installed and onne ted by
a spe ialist.
Remove the pa kaging from the applian e and
dispose of it properly.
Pay attention to the fa t that there are a essories
in the base of the pa kaging.
Keep packaging elements away from hildren.
Before using the oven for the first time, remove
all removable interior parts (gridiron,
tray ...). Now operate the oven for one hour at
300 °C / 550 °F in the hot air mode. During this time,
pay attention to ensuring that the room is ventilated
well, thus removing any newness smells.
Thoroughly clean the applian e and a essories
before using them for the first time. (see hapter
entitled “Cleaning and are”).
After first installation or a power failure, the
symbol (Door lo k) flashes in the display. Please
do not open the oven door! Then, 08:00 and the
time unit symbol flash in the display. You an set the
urrent time by pressing the + and – keys. When
you turn one of the ontrol knobs or press a key, the
displayed time of day is set as the urrent time of
day.
Before operating the applian e for the first time,
make sure that the mains onne tion is in proper
working order.
The rating plate for this applian e is visible when
you open the applian e door. An additional rating
plate is in luded on a separate sheet of the
instru tions. For guarantee reasons, store this
rating plate in the same lo ation as your operating
and assembly instru tions.

1.3 About use
The appliance is intended solely for use in the
household and must not be put to any other uses.
Use the appliance to prepare meals only. It must
not be used to heat up the room in whi h it is
installed.
Caution! You will subje t yourself to an a ident
risk if you lose the door improperly. You might jam
and rush your fingers and hands.
Do not store any ombustible obje ts in your oven
and, when operating the oven, never leave any
items inside the oven ompartment other than the
ones needed.
Make sure that the bottom of the oven ompart-
ment is never overed up during operation or lined
with aluminium foil.
Never pour water directly into the hot oven. This
ould damage the enamel.
Always preheat your oven in the mode in whi h
you intend to bake or roast.
Tip: you have a possibility of heating up the
applian e very qui kly. To do this, use the hot air
and bottom heat program.
The (Heating) symbol in the ontrol panel
goes off as soon as the set temperature has been
rea hed.
Observe caution with oils and fats. They may
overheat and burn easily.
Note! Fruit a ids su h as the jui e of lemons or
plums et . should be removed after every baking
operation, thus making sure that they will not ause
spots on the oven’s enamel.
After baking/roasting, open the door comple-
tely or close it. The oven door must not be left
half open as otherwise the control panel and
kitchen furniture may be damaged.
Caution: risk of burns. The inside of the door
gets very hot during operation; observe appropriate
aution when opening the applian e. Make sure
that the open door does not swing ba k when you
are standing in front of the applian e.
Built-in temperature prote tion prevents over-
heating of the applian e and of kit hen furniture.
Return the "Temperature" knob to "0" after baking.
If malfunctions should o ur, first he k the fuses
in your household. If there is no fault in the power
supply, onsult your dealer or the nearest autho-
rised Gaggenau servi e entre.
All heating elements and the fan are swit hed off
when you open the door.
The cooling fan goes on automati ally after
around 15 minutes of operation.
After completion of baking or roasting, the
ooling fan will ontinue to run for a time and will
then swit h off automati ally.

2.3 Operating principle of the
operating modes
Hot air
In the hot air mode, all prepared meals are ooked
at the same temperature. Diverse or similar meals
an be prepared on several levels without any
trransfer of taste.
You an bake, roast and sterilise with hot air.
Baking with hot air
This is the ideal operating mode for baking several
trays and tins at the same time. (Fig. 13)
Roasting with hot air
Meat is evenly browned on all sides. When ooking
on the grid, push the grilling tray one level lower to
olle t dripping fat.
Hot air and bottom heat
When this fun tion is used, the bottom heating
element is additionally in operation.
The fan wheel ensures a uniform distribution of
heat. Heat is also generated from below. (Fig. 14)
Top and bottom heat
Two heating elements (top and bottom heat) are
operated jointly.
When baking with top and bottom heat, you an
only use one level. You get the best baking and
roasting results on the se ond level from below.

This unit allows you to sele t the top and bottom
heat elements separately. In these modes of
operation you an deliberately hoose to bake or
roast food from the top or the bottom.

Grilling
When grilling, food is ooked/roasted at a tempera-
ture of 150-300 °C / 300-500 °F from above. A dis-
tin tion an be made between the following kinds:
Temperature-controlled grilling:
During temperature- ontrolled grilling, the heating
element emits a greater or lesser amount of infra-
red radiation depending on the setting of the tem-
perature sele tor swit h. (Fig. 16)
This method of grilling is suitable for flat pie es of
meat and for browning or gratins.
Do not forget to turn grilled food!
Grilling with the hot air fan therefore ensures
better all-round warming-up, even when the grill is
full. There is no need to turn the food frequently.

Economy grilling
Only the middle area of the grill heating element is
heated.
Do not forget to turn grilled food!
Grilling with the rotary spit produ es a rispy
rust and even browning all-round. (Fig. 18) Insert
the support frame for the rotary spit in the se ond
level from below. Insert the grilling tray one level
further down to olle t fat.
Please note: the core temperature sensor
cannot be used in combination with the rotary
spit. The rotary spit will not function if the
core temperature sensor is plugged in the
socket in the oven.
