IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.
WARNING I
Read all safety instructions before using the product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in fire, electric
shock, serious injury or death.
ANTI-TIP DEVICE
¯ All ranges can tip.
¯
BURNS or
other SERIOUS
INJURIES can result.
¯
INSTALL and CHECK the
ANTI-TIP bracket following
the instructions
supplied
with the
bracket.
To reduce the risk of tipping the range, the range must be secured by a
properly installed anti-tip bracket. See installation instructions shipped
with the bracket for complete details before attempting
to install.
For Freestanding Ranges:
To
check
if the bracket is installed and engaged properly, remove the
storage drawer ar kick panel and look underneath the range
to see that the leveling leg is engaged in the bracket. On models without
a storage drawer or kick panel, carefully tip the range forward. The
bracket should stop the range within 4 inches. If it
does not, the bracket must be reinstalled. If the range is pulled
from the wall for any reason, always repeat this procedure to
verify the range is properly secured by the anti-tip bracket.
Never completely remove the leveling legs or the range will not
be secured to the anti-tip device properly.
For Slide-ln Ranges:
To
check if the bracket is installed and engaged properly, remove the
storage drawer or kick panel and look underneath the range to see that
the leveling leg is engaged in the bracket.
For Drop-ln Ranges:
To
check if the bracket is installed and engaged properly, lower
the oven door and gently apply medium force atthe handle end until
movement of the range is detected. Continue pressing until the anti-tip
bracket is engaged and movement stops. A small amount of
movement is acceptable at the back of the range top, but it should be
stable and not tip once the anti-tip bracket is engaged. If it does not,
the bracket must be reinstalled.
If you did not receive an anti-tip bracket with your purchase,
call 1.800.626.8774 to receive one at no cost (in Canada, call
1.800.561.3344). For installation instructions of the bracket,
visit GEAppliances.com (in Canada, GEAppliances.ca).

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act requires the Governor of California to publish a list of substances
known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to warn customers of
potential exposure to such substances.
The fiberglass insulation in self-clean ovens gives afro very small amount of carbon monoxide during the cleaning cycle. Exposure
can be minimized by venting with an open window or using a ventilation fan or hood.

surface
units, con so=e
GEApplionces.com
Never cook directly on the gloss.
Always use cookwore.
Always place the pan in the center of
the surface unit you are cooking on.
About the radiant surface units...
The radiant cool<top features heating units
beneath a smooth glass surface.
NOTE:
A slight odor is normal when a new
cool<top is used for the first time. It is caused
by the heating of new parts and insulating
materials and will disappear in a short time.
The surface unit will cycle on and off to
maintain your selected control setting.
It is safe to place hot cookware from the
oven or surface on the glass surface when
the surface is cool.
Even after the surface units are turned off,
the glass cool<top retains enough heat to
continue cooking. To avoid over-cooking,
remove pans from the surface units when
the food is cooked. Avoid placing anything
on the surface unit until it has cooled
completely.
Water stains (mineral deposits) are
removable using the deaning cream or
full-strength white vinegar.
[]
Use of window cleaner may leave an
iridescent film on the cool<top. The cleaning
cream will remove this discoloration.
[]
Don’t store heavy items above the
cooktop.
If they drop onto the cooktop, they can
cause damage.
[] Do not use the surface as a cutting board.
Do not slide cookware across the cooktop
because it can scratch the glass-the glass
is scratch resistant, not scratch proof.

Selecting,
types ofcookware.
The following information will help you choose cookware which will give good performance on glass cooktops.
Check pans for flat bottoms by
using a straight
edge,
Pans with rounded, curved,
ridged or warped bottoms ore
not recommended.
Stainless Steeh
recommended
Aluminum:
heavy weight recommended
Good conductivity. Aluminum residues
sometimes appear as scratches on the
cooktop, but can be removed if cleaned
immediately. Because of its low melting
point, thin-weight aluminum should not
be used.
Copper Bottom:
recommended
Copper may leave residues which can
appear as scratches. The residues can be
removed, as long as the cooktop is cleaned
immediately. However, da not let these pots
boil dry. Overheated metal can bond to glass
cool<tops. An overheated copper bottom pot
wil! leave a residue that will permanently
stain the cooktop if not removed
immediately.
Porcelain Enamel Covered Cast Iron:
recommended
As long as the cookware is covered
completely with porcelain enamel, this
cookware is recommended. Caution is
recommended for cast-iron cookware
that is not completely covered with smooth
porcelain enamel, as it may scratch the
glass-ceramic cooktop.
Glass-ceramic:
usable, but not recommended
Poor performance. May scratch the surface.
Stoneware:
usable, but not recommended
Poor performance. May scratch the surface.
Home Canning Tips:
Be sure the canner is centered over the
surface unit.
Make sure the canner is fiat on the bottom.
Use recipes and procedures from
reputable sources. These are available
from manufacturers such as Ball
®
and
KerP and the Department of Agriculture.
Extension Service.
To prevent burns from steam or heat, use
caution when canning.
The following information will help you choose cookware which will give good performance on coil cool<tops.
Not over 1 inch
Surface Cookware
Tips
Use medium- or heavy-weight cookware.
Aluminum cook’ware conducts heat faster
than other metals. Cast-iron and coated
cast-iron cookware are slow to absorb heat,
but generally cook evenly at low to medium
heat settings. Steel pans may cook unevenly
if not combined with other metals.
For best cooking results, pans should be
fiat on the bottom. Match the size of the
saucepan to the size of the surface unit.
The pan should not extend over the edge
of the surface unit more than I inch.
Wok Cooking
We recommend that you use only a flat-
bottomed wok. They
are
available at your
local retail store.
Do not use woks that have support rings. Use
of these types of wok, s, with or without the
ring in place, can be dangerous.
Placing the ring over the surface unit will
cause a buildup of heat that will damage
the porcelain cooktop. Do not try to use such
woks without the ring. You could be seriously
burned if the wok tips over.
Use
only flat-bottomed woks.

Using the oven.
Type of Hargafine Will Affect Baking Performance!
Most
recipes for baking have been
developed using high
fat
products such
as butter or margarine (80% fat). If you
decrease the fat, the recipe may not
give the same results as with a higher
fat product.
Recipe failure
can
result if cakes, pies,
pastries, cookies or candies are made with
low fat spreads. The lower the fat content
era spread product, the more noticeable
these
differences become.
Federal standards require products labeled
"margarine" to contain at least 80% fat by
weight. Low-fat spreads, on the other hand,
contain less fat and more water. The high
moisture content of these spreads affects
the texture and flavor of baked goods. For
best results with your old favorite recipes,
use margarine, butter or stick spreads
containing at least 70% vegetable oil.
Preheating and Pan Placement
Preheat the oven if the recipe calls for it.
To preheat, set the oven at the correct
temperature. Preheating is necessary for
good results when baking cokes, cookies,
pastry and breads.
On some models, the display will show "PRE"
while preheating. When the oven reaches the
selected temperature, the oven control will
beep and the display will show the oven
temperature.
For ovens without a preheat indicator light
or tone, preheat
10
minutes.
Baking results will be better if baking
pans ere centered in the oven as much as
possible. Pens should not touch each other
or the walls of the oven. If you need to use
two racks, stagger the pans so one is
not directly above the other, and leave
approximately :[½ from the front
of the pan to the front of the rack.
Aluminum Foil
Do not use aluminum foil to line oven
bottoms. The foil will trap heat below and
upset the performance of the oven. Foil
can melt and permanently damage the
oven bottom. Damage from improper use
of aluminum foil is not covered by the
product warranty
Foil may be used to catch spills by placing
a sheet on a lower rack, several inches
below the food .Do not use more foil then
necessary and never entirely cover an
oven rack with aluminum foil. Keep foil at
least
:[-:[/2"
from oven walls to prevent
poor heat circulation.
If your range is connected
to 208 volts, rare steaks
may be broiled by preheating
the broiler and positioning
the oven rack one position
higher.
