Wash Cycles-Cycle Selector Knob
Thewash cycle controls the length of the washing process.The knob can be turned in either direction. Turning the CycleSelector knob after

Delay Wash
Onsome models, asthe Delay Wash pad isrepeatedly pressed,the delay time sets to 30 minutes, i hour,3 hours, 6 hours, 9 hours, and
back to clear (0 minutes).
Onother models, asthe Delay Wash pad isrepeatedly pressed,the delay time sets to 2 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, and back to clear (0 hours).
Foroil models, ifthe Delay Wash pad ispressedfor 3 seconds, it clears (regardlessof the delay time).
Signal
Usethe Signal pad to change the volume of the end of cycle signal. Pressthe pad until you reach the desired volume or off.
Settings Individual settings for agitation (Soil),water temperature (Tamp), and spin (Spin) can be set from the minimum (lowest in
column) to maximum (highest in column). In general, the higher up the column, the more energy will be used.

thesizeandtype ofloadplacedintheunit.NOTE:Thewasher will not fill with water when PreciseFifl is selected ifthe lid isopened.
- Ifyou prefertomanualtysetectthewaterlevet,depresstheLoadSizebuttontohighlightthedesiredselection.WhitePreciseFillisbestfor mostloads
andgeneralwashing,youmaywant to manuallyselecttheloadsizeforspecialtyitemssuchasbulky,lightweightcomfortersorpillows,whereyou
wantto ensurea largerwater levetisapplied.Manualloadsizeselectionsshouldbemadefor wetitemsptacedin thewasher,suchas soakedtowetsor
garments.
- Somemodelsareequippedwith a "DeepFill"setting. Thisisidealforwashingbulkyitemsor whena maximumwaterlevelisdesired.
Power Pressto "wake up" the display. If the display isactive, press to put the washer into idle mode.
NOTE: Pressing POWERdoes not disconnect the appliance from the power supply.
Start PressStart to begin the cycle. NOTE:The lid must be closedfor the washer to fill and the cycle to start. PressingStart again will
Pause the cycle and the Cycleindicator light will blink.
Tocontinue the cycle, pressStart again or closethe lid.If machine is paused more than 2/4hours,the cycle will be cancelled. To stop the
cycle,hold the pad for 3seconds. If water remains in the machine, selectthe Drain &Spin cycle to drain tub and spin water out of the
washer tub.
Raising the lid will stop agitation or spin action but does not pause the cycle.
eWash (on some models) - When the eWash pad is pressed,the cycle changes to its most energy efficient settings. TheeMonitor
lightswill now illuminate to indicate the relative efficiency ofthe modified cycle.
Display (onsomemodels) -The display shows the approximate time remaining untilthe endof the cycle.
NOTE:The cycle time is affected by how long it takes the washer to fill.Thisdepends on the water pressure in your home. The"smart" timer
"learns" the amount of time ittakes to fill your washer and adjuststhe total time accordingly.
In addition, this display will, "scroll" the washer status:
•bALANCING Start of rebalancing cycle to redistribute clothes.Stopsafter rebalancing iscomplete.
•dELAY When Delayed Wash is initiated. Replacedwith estimated time when cycle starts.
End Endof current cycle.
FiLL Forthe first/45 seconds of a fill,the estimated end of cycle time is displayed. Forthe rest of the fill time, "FILL"isscrolled
untilthe fill completes.
LID Cycle stopped because lid isopen. Closethe lid.
•PAUSE Cycle paused because the Start/Pause pad was pressedand the washer was set to Pause.PressStart pad again to
restart the cycle.
Indicator lights Five LEDlights indicate the current washer status moving from left to right as the cycle progresses.

Do not pour anything into the
agitator if the agitator cap or
dispenser is removed.
The Fabric Softener Dispenser
Theagitator cap fits into the top of the agitator.
If it accidentally comes off, simply put it back
on.
Thefabric softener dispenser automatically
releases liquid fabric softener at the proper time
during the cycle.
Do not stop the washer or raise the lid during
the first spin. This will cause the dispenser to
empty too soon.
To use, follow these steps:

Cleaning the Fabric Softener Dispenser (onsomemodels)
r_ Removethe dispenser from the top of the agitator.
r_l Separatethe dispenser cup from the cover by grasping the top and pushingdown on the
inside ofthe cup with your fingers. Dispensercup will pop free from the cover.
r_To clean the dispenser,soak both the dispenser cup and the dispenser cover in the following
solution:
[] ! USgallon (3.8liters)warm water
[] !/4 cup (60ml)heavy-duty liquid detergent
[] ! cup (240 ml)bleach
r411f necessary,loosenbuildup with a clean, soft cloth after soaking. Donot usea stiff brush;you
may roughen the surface of the dispenser.
r_ Rinseand reassembledispenser.Placedispenser back on the agitator.
Liquid Bleach Funnel
The water filldilutes liquid chlorine bleach as the washer fillsfor the wash cycle.
[!] Check clothing care labels for special instructions.
[_] Pleasure liquid bleach carefully, following instructions on the bottle.
[] Never pour undiluted liquid chlorine bleach directly onto clothes or into the wash basket
[] Do not pour powdered bleach into bleach funnel.
[_] Before starting the washer, pour measured amount of bleach directly into bleach funnel. Avoid
splashing or over-filling dispenser. Ifyou prefer to use powdered bleach, add it into the wash
basket with your detergent.
[] Donot mix chlorine bleachwith ammonia or acids such asvinegar and/or rust remover.
Mixing can produce a toxic gas which may cause death.

Sorting Wash Loads
Sort by color (whites, lights, colors), soil level,fabric type
(sturdy cottons, easy care, delicates) and whether the
fabric produces lint (terry cloth, chenille) or collects lint
(velveteen, corduroy).

Neverplace items in the washer that are dampened with gasoline or other flammable liquids.
Nowasher can completely remove oil.
Donot dry anything that hasever had any type of oil on it (including cooking oils).
Doingsoso can result in death, explosion,or fire.
ProperUse of Detergent
Add detergent and fabric softener before adding items
sothat the detergent can work effectively. Usingtoo
little or too much detergent isa common cause of
laundry problems.
Uselessdetergent ifyou hove soft water, a smaller loud
or a lightly soiledloud.
Forspots,apply pre-treatment to itemsas recommended
on the product label. Applicationshould be made in
the basketto prevent overspraywhich may causethe
coloringon the lid or graphics to fade.
GErecommends the useof High Efficiency
detergents in your energy efficient washer. _
HEdetergents are formulated to work with low water
wash and rinsesystems. HEdetergents reduce the
oversudsing problems commonly associated with
regular detergents.
When using high efficiency or concentrated detergents,
consult the product label to determine amount required
for optimum performance. Excessivedetergent will
negatively impact wash performance.
LoadingtheWasher
Load dry items looselyin the washer basket. Forbest
results,load items evenly and loosely around the
outside ofthe basket.Toadd itemsafter washer has
started, lift the lid and submerge additional items
around the outside of the basket.
[] Do not place large items across the infusor. Load
them around the outside of the basket.
[] Do not wash fabrics containing flammable materials
(waxes, cleaning fluids, etc.).
[] Washer will not agitate or spin with the lidup.

Cleaning the Interior of the Washer
To clean the interior of the washer, select the
Basket Clean feature on the control panel. This
Basket Clean cycle should be performed, at a
minimum, once per month. This cycle will use
more water, in addition to bleach, to control
the rate at which soils and detergents may
accumulate in your washer.
NOTE: Read the instructions below completely
before starting the Basket Clean cycle.
1. Remove any garments or objects from the
washer and ensure the washer basket is
empty.
2. Open the washer lid and pour one cup or 250
ml of liquid bleach or other washing machine
cleaner into the basket.

Close the lidand select the Basket Clean
cycle. Push the Start button.
When the Basket Clean cycle is working, the
display will show the estimated cycle time
remaining. The cycle will complete in about
90 minutes. Do not interrupt the cycle.
Basket Clean may be interrupted by pressing the
Start pad in between cycles. A power outage in
the house might also interrupt the cycle. When
the power supply is back, the Basket Clean cycle
resumes where it had stopped. When interrupted,
be sure to run a complete Basket Clean cycle
before using the washer. If the Power pad is
pressed during Basket Clean, the cycle will be
lost.
IMPORTANT:
[] Run Basket Clean with 1 Cup (250 ml) of
bleach once a month.
[] After the completion of a Basket Clean cycle,
the interior of your washer may have a bleach
smell.
[] It is recommended to run a light color load
after the Basket Clean cycle.
Exterior
Immediately wipe off any spills. Wipe with
damp cloth. Try not to hit surface with sharp
objects.
Fill Hoses
GE recommends changing the hoses every
5 years.
Long Vacations
Be sure water supply is shut off at faucets.
Drain all water from hoses if weather will
be below freezing.
Moving and Storage
Ask the service technician to remove
water from drain pump and hoses. See
the Installation Instructions packed with
product for information on how to reinstall
the shipping rod to keep the tub stationary
when moving the washer. For more
information, visit GEAppliunces.corn or
call 800.GE.CARES (800.432.2737). Do not
store the washer where it will be exposed
to weather.
