POWER
MAIN POWER RECEPTACLE (1): This is a Standard 3-prong
IECpowerconnector.Connectthedetachablelinecord(includ-
edintheboxwithyourCDMP-1400tothepowerreceptacle,
and plug the other end of the line cord into an AC outlet. The
CDMP-1400hasauniversalpowersupplythatcanacceptany
ACvoltagefrom100VACto240VAC.Noneedforvoltagese-
lectswitches.Itwillworkvirtuallyanywhereintheworld.Itis
less susceptible to voltage sags or spikes than conventional
power supplies, providing greater electro magnetic isolation
and better protection against AC line noise.

FUNCTIONS
POWER (6): Once all cables are connected, the CDMP-1400
can be turned on by pressing the POWER button. Pressing the
CDMP-1400’s POWER button a second time will turn off the
unit.
DISCSLOT (7): The DISCSLOT is where the CD is load-
ed, unloaded and stored during playback. It holds both
12 cm and 8cm CDs and reads WAV as well as MP3
les. (DONOTFORCETHECDIN THE SLOT. EXCE-
SIVEFORCEWILLDAMAGETHECDMECHANISM.)
EJECT(8):PressingtheEJECTbuttonwillejecttheCDfromthe
DISCSLOT(7).IfaCDisplaying,youmustpressthePLAY/
PAUSE(19)buttonbeforeejectingyourdisc.
FOLDERTRACKSEARCH(9):TheFOLDERTRACKSEARCH
allowsyoutonavigatethroughfoldersortrackssimilarlyinei-
therUSBorCDmode.
When navigating a standard CD turn the knob to the right to
advance the selection, or turn the rotary to the left to decrease
the selection.
The ROTARY knob also allows you to search through music
librarieson yourMP3, CD,or USBmemory stick.Rotate the
knob until you have reached the folder you wish to explore
(folders will be identied by a (+) sign before and after their
nameforexample:+DANCEMUSIC+).Ifyouhavenotcreated
afolderthesong(track),leswillappearwithjustthenameof
thelewhichwillscrollonceacrossthedisplaywhenselected,
thenholdforeasierviewingoftracktitles.
When you have reached the desired folder, press the FOLDER
TRACKSEARCHknobtoopenit,or when youhave reached
thedesiredtrack,presstheFOLDERTRACKSEARCHknobto
loadit.IftheunitisinSINGLEmode,thetrackwillloadandthe
PLAY/PAUSEbuttonwillashindicatingthatthesongisready
forPLAY.IfyouareinCONTINUOUSmode,thedesiredtrack
willstartplayingimmediately.
Once a song/track is playing you may once again navigate
through your folders and tracks by simply turning the FOLDER
TRACK SEARCH knob. The display will go back to the last
songorfolderyouwereviewing.Youmaythennavigatefrom
thatpointuntilyoundyournextsong.Thedisplaywillshow
yourchoicefor10SECONDSthengobacktothesonginfor-
mation of the song playing.
IfyouwishtogobackandLOADthesongyouchose,simply
PRESSTHEKNOBTWICE,ONCEforthedisplaytogobackto
thelastsongVIEWEDandSECONDtoLOADthatsong.You
can also search from that point as well. *NOTE: ONCE YOU
HAVE SKIPPED TO ANOTHER TRACK, YOU MAY NOT GO
BACK TO YOUR PROGRAMMED CUE POINT. YOU MUST
BEGINYOURCUESELECTIONOVERAGAIN.THECUEWILL
BE PRESET TO THE BEINNING OF THE NEWLY SELECTED
TRACK.
BACK(10):TheBACKbuttonisusedwhennavigatingthrough
folders.WhenpressedONCEitwillnavigateonelevelBACK,
TonavigatetotheROOTlevelorBeginningPRESSandHOLD
theBACKbutton.
VFD DISPLAY (11): The VFD DISPLAY shows the playback
searchbar,tracknumber,pitchvalue,singleon/off(offforcon-
tinuousplay),loop,BPM,play/pause,timedisplay,repeatand
USB/CD modes, track and folder name or track number as
wellastwodifferentTIMEdisplaymodes.TheseTIMEdisplays
areTIMEELAPSEDonthetrackandTIMEREMAININGonthe
track. Time is measured in minutes, seconds and frames.
TIME (12): The TIMEbutton switches the time display be-
tweentwoavailablesources:TIMEELAPSEDonthetrackand
TIMEREMAININGonthetrack.TIMEELAPSEDindicateshow
much time has currently gone by since the play button was
pressed and TIMEREMAINING ONTRACK counts down the
time that is left before the end of the track.
SINGLE (13): Pressing the SINGLE button engages SINGLE
mode. This mode will play one song and then stop. Press-
ingtheSINGLEbuttonagainwillthenactivateCONTINUOUS

mode, causing the unit to play continuously until the last track
on the CD or currently selected FOLDER.
PITCHBUTTON(14A):PushingthePITCHbuttonactivates
thePITCHcontrolfunction.Therearethreesettings:8%,16%
and24%whichcanbetoggledbypressingthePITCHbutton
once for each setting.
PITCH ROTARY (14 B): In PITCH mode, moving the PITCH
rotaryclockwisewill raisethe pitchpercentageand moving
thePITCHrotarycounterclockwisewilllowerthepitchper-
centage.
PITCHBEND(15):PushingthePITCHBENDbuttonswillau-
tomaticallybendthepitchupto+26%orbendthepitchdown
to -26% depending on the setting of the PITCH(14) rotary.
Releasingthebuttonswillreturnthepitchtotheoriginalpitch
setting. You can use this function to match the beat when
mixing from one song to another.
LOOPFUNCTION (16,17,18): ALOOP repeats thesection
betweentheentrypointIN(16)andtheexitpointOUT(17).
Tosetaloopwhiletheunitisplaying,startbypressingtheIN
(16)button(theadjacentLEDwilllightup)andwhenyoureach
thedesiredend looppoint, pressthe OUT(17) button(cor-
respondingLEDwilllightup).Theloopwillcontinueplaying
untilyoupresstheOUT(17)buttonagainallowingthemusic
to continue from that point on, to re-engage the loop you must
presstheRELOOP(18)button.
Whenyouhavereleasedyourloop,bothlightswillstayONto
indicatethatyourloopisstoredintheCDMP-1400memory.
PressingtheIN BUTTONagain whilethe unitisplaying will
erasethepreviouslysaved loopwhile savingyour new loop
entrypoint.PressOUTtoexittheloopandsaveanewcom-
plete loop. Press RELOOP to return to the beginning of the
previously saved loop from normal play. Press RELOOP re-
peatedly to cause the loop to stutter.
PLAY/PAUSE (19): Each press of the PLAY/PAUSE button
causes the operation to change from PLAY to PAUSE or from
PAUSE back to PLAY. The PLAY/PAUSE button remains lit
wheninPLAYmode,whileitblinksinPAUSEmode.
CUE(20):WiththeCDMP-1400,creatingandmemorizingcue
pointsis quickand easy. Bydefault, whenthere isno CUE
Pointset(ormemorized),pressingtheCUEbuttonreturnsthe
unittothebeginningofthetrack(0:00.00)andpausesit.To
set a CUE Point during playback at a time of your choice,
simplypressPAUSE,andthenusetheSEARCH(27)function
tomakeanyadjustmentsbyframe.WhenPlayispressedto
resumeplayback,theCUEPOINTwillbestored.
REPEAT (21): Press the REPEAT button once to engage or
repeat the selected track. Press REPEAT again to engage the
ALLsettingwhichwillrepeatallthetracksontheCD.Press
REPEAT(21)againtodisengagetherepeatfunction.
USBPORT(22):TheUSBPORTallowstheconnectionofany
USBmassstoragedevice*.
USB/CD(23):TheUSB/CDselectbuttonallowsyoutotoggle
fromtheCDMP-1400internalCDdriveandthemassstorage

ID3-tag,itwill bedisplayed.If thereis noneitwilldisplay 0
until you TAP the value in.
*The(A type)USB connectiononthe faceof thisunit isfor
connectingUSB storagedevices suchas ashdrives, MP3
players and external hard drives.
While this player is capable of connecting to and loading mu-
sicfrommosttypesofUSBstoragedevicesandMP3players,
wecannotguaranteeplaybackfromallsuchdevicesdueto
the varying nature of the devices and their storage methods,
moststoragedevicesandstorageclassMP3playersarecom-
patibleforplayback.Checkwiththedevicesmanufacturerfor
additional compatibility information.
The player pre-reads the entire directory structure and locates
allvalidMP3leswithinthosefolders,thusaLARGECAPAC-

Warranty and Repair:
All Gemini products are designed and manufactured
to the highest standards in the industry. With proper
care and maintenance, your product will provide
years of reliable service.
LIMITED WARRANTY
A. Gemini warrants its products to be free from de-
fects in materials and workmanship for One (1) year
from the original purchase date. Exceptions: Laser
assemblies on CD Players, cartridges, and crossfaders
are covered for 90 days.
B.This limited warranty does not cover damage or
failure caused by abuse, misuse, abnormal use, faulty
installation, improper maintenance or any repairs
other than those provided by an authorized Gemini
Service Center.
C.There are no obligations of liability on the part
of Gemini for consequential damages arising out of
or in connection with the use or performance of
the product or other indirect damages with respect
to loss of property, revenues, of prot, or costs of
removal, installation, or reinstallation. All implied war-
ranties for Gemini, including implied warranties for t-
ness, are limited in duration to One (1) year from the
original date of purchase, unless otherwise mandated
by local statutes.
RETURN/REPAIR
A. In the U.S.A., please call our helpful Customer Ser-
vice Representatives at (732)738-9003, and they will
be happy to give you a Return Authorization Number
(RA#) and the address of an authorized service
center closest to you.
B. After receiving an RA#, include a copy of the origi-
nal sales receipt, with defective product and a descrip-
tion of the defect. Send by insured freight to: Gemini
Sound Products Corp, and use the address provided
by your customer service representative.Your RA#
must be written on the outside of the package, or
processing will be delayed indenitely!
C. Service covered under warranty will be paid for
by Gemini and returned to you. For non-warrantied
products, Gemini will repair your unit after payment is
received. Repair charges do not include return freight.
Freight charges will be added to the repair charges.
D. On warranty service, you pay for shipping to
Gemini, we pay for return shipping within the
continental United States. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto
Rico, Canada, Bahamas, and the Virgin Islands will be
charged for freight.
E. Please allow 2-4 weeks for return of your product.
Under normal circumstances your product will spend
no more than 10 working days at Gemini.We are not
responsible for shipping times.

In the event that you need service on your Gemini
product under warranty, simply write a letter describ-
ing the problem, along with your contact information.
Make sure to enclose a copy of your receipt for proof
of warranty information. A return number is not
required. You will be responsible for shipping charges
to Gemini UK, and Gemini UK will pay to return the
unit to you if it is considered under warranty.
