2.1 General safety information
Important information

Danger through electrical voltage
- Only connect equipment to a grounded safety socket
- Do not let the equipment come into contact with liquids or moisture
- Completely cut the power to the equipment before installation, cleaning, maintenance, or
repairs
- Do not clean equipment under running water or by immersing in liquid
Proper handling
- Do not make any modifications to the equipment
- Do not drop equipment or expose it to severe mechanical pressure. The equipment can
sustain heavy damage from the impact.
- Keep equipment safe from moisture, splashing water, and heat exposure.
- Maintain an adequate distance from surfaces sensitive to hear (min. 20 cm).
- Regularly check equipment for damage. If damaged, turn the equipment off and fully dis-
connect from the power supply. Contact customer service or retailer.
Maintenance and repair
- Do not repair equipment yourself. Contact customer service or retailer.
2.2 Intended use
This device is developed for commercial use. Private use is not permitted.
It may only be operated indoors or outdoors.
Protect against moisture and spray water.
The device serves as a power source and DMX signal receiver and transmitter for X4 atom headlights at
events. It may not be used for any other purpose.
This device is not intended to be used by people with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities or
lack of experience and/or lack of knowledge unless supervised or instructed by a person responsible for
their safety the device.
The manufacturer is not liable for damage caused by improper use of the device.

3 Transport and storage
Attention
Do not drop equipment or expose it to severe mechanical pressure. The product can
sustain damage from the impact.
Only store equipment in dry areas.
Use the supplied or appropriate packaging material for storage and transport.
To lift the device, grasp the casing with both hands.

6 Assembly and connection
6.1 X4 atom
Attention
The X4 atom free connect is only compatible with the X4 atom headlight.
■Use only an X4 atom head light.
Advice
Observe the X4 atom’s operating instructions.
Assemble the X4 atom
1. If the X4 atom yokes are attached, then remove the yokes.
2. Push the X4 atom with the side brackets into the fixing rails of the X4 atom free connect until the
release buttons click into place.
3. Plug the XLR cable into the XLR socket on the back of the X4 atom.
✓The X4 atom is assembled on the X4 atom free connect.

Swivel the X4 atom
1. Loosen the side thumb screw with just 1 to 2 turns until the fixation is released.
2. Swing the X4 atom into the desired position. The swing radius is 240°.
3. Tighten the side thumb screw.
✓The X4 atom is in the desired position.
Remove the X4 atom
1. Keep both release buttons pressed on the fixing rails.
2. Slide out the X4 atom at the same time.
✓The X4 atom is removed.

6.2 Set up device
Safety information
■Only qualified personnel may install the device.
■Observe VDE 0711-217 requirements.
The device can be operated standing on the ground, sideways and hanging.

Set the device on the ground
Conditions
■Firm, level ground
▶Place the device on the ground with 4 rubber feet.
✓The device is now ready for use.
Fix the device sideways
Conditions
■Half coupler
■M10 threaded screws, max. 11 mm long
1. Screw a half coupler with M10 threaded screws on the underside of the X4 atom free connect in one of
the M10 threaded connections.
2. Attach the half coupler to a suitable scaffold with the X4 atom free connect.
3. Secure the X4 atom free connect using the safety eyelets.
✓The device is now ready for use.
Attach the device hanging
Conditions
■Half coupler
■M10 threaded screws, max. 11 mm long

1. Screw a half coupler with M10 threaded screws on the underside of the X4 atom free connect into the
center M10 threaded connection.
2. Attach the half coupler to a suitable scaffold with the X4 atom free connect.
3. Secure the X4 atom free connect using the safety eyelets.
✓The device is now ready for use.

7 Operation
7.1 Recharge battery
Fully charged, the battery lasts approximately 8 hours depending on usage conditions.
1. Open the cover from the power input on the bottom of the X4 atom free connect.
2. Plug the power cable into the bottom of the X4 atom free connect.
3. Plug in the plug of the power cable into a power socket.
✓When the battery is charging, the signal light on the power supply is red.
✓When the battery has fully charged, the signal light on the power supply is green.
7.2 Switch on the device
Conditions
■The battery is charged
▶Press the on/off switch so that it clicks into place.
✓After a few seconds, the device is ready for use.
7.3 Establish wireless connection
Conditions
■DMX Transmitter LumenRadio CRMS or compatible systems
■The X4 atom free connect is switched on
■At this time there is no connection to the X4 atom free connect
▶Press the left button on the DMX transmitter.
✓The transmitter automatically connects to all receiving devices that are within range.
Disconnect wireless connection
On the X4 atom free connect
1. Open the menu Special.
2. Choose Unlink wireless and confirm with OK.
✓In Wireless PDA-Menu appears on 00.
✓The wireless connection is disconnected.
At the DMX transmitter
▶Choose “unlink all”.
✓The wireless connection is disconnected.

8 Cleaning and maintenance
The X4 atom free connect is a low-maintenance device. Depending on the operating environment, surfaces
must nevertheless be cleaned at regular intervals.
Warning
Danger of electrical shock. Electric cables can cause serious injury if they come into
contact with cleaning agents.
■Disconnect the mains plug before cleaning.
■Observe local health and safety regulations.
■Wait until the device has cooled down after previous operation.
■Do not repair the device yourself. Contact the customer service or retailer. (see
chapter 11)
1. Clean the surface with a dry, soft and clean cloth.
Attention
Do not use aggressive detergents, alcohol or other chemical agents.
2. Suck or sweep away dust from the openings.
