Care and Cleaning
Damp objects stick to cold

To avoid damage and help
therefrigeratorrunasefficientlyas
possible, clean the condenser
periodically.
Keepyourrefrigeratorandfreezercleantopreventodorbuild-up.Wipeupanyspills
immediately and clean both sections at least twice a year. Never use metallic
scouringpads,brushes,abrasivecleanersorstrongalkalinesolutionsonanysurface.
Do not wash any removable parts in a dishwasher.
Always unplug the power cord from the wall outlet before cleaning.
Turning
thecontroltoOFFdoes not disconnect power to the controls, light bulb, or other
electricalcomponents.
Inside
Washinsidesurfacesoftherefrigeratorandfreezerwithasolutionof2tablespoons
baking soda in 1 quart warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Be sure to wring
excess water out of sponge or cloth when cleaning around the controls, light
bulb,oranyelectricalparts.
Washremovablepartssuchasshelvesanddrawers with baking soda solution or mild
detergent and warm water. DO NOT USE HARSH CLEANERS ON THESE SURFACES.
Rinseanddrythoroughly.Cleanthedoorgasketswithmildsuds,rinsewithclearwater
andwipedry.Donotuse razor blades or other sharp instruments which can scratch
theappliance surfacewhenremoving adhesivelabels.Any glueleftfromthe tapeor
energy label can be removed with a mixture of warm water and mild detergent, or,
touch the residue with the sticky side of tape already removed. DO NOT REMOVE
THE SERIAL PLATE.
Outside
Washthecabinetandhandleswithwarm water and mild liquid detergent. Rinse well
andwipedrywithacleansoftcloth.
Whenmovingtherefrigerator,pullstraightout.Donotshifttherefrigeratorfromsideto
sideasthismaytearorgougethefloorcovering.Iftherefrigeratorhasanautomaticice
maker,be carefulnotto movethe refrigeratorbeyondplumbing connections.
Periodically clean the condenser (black tubes and wires on the back of the
refrigerator).Using avacuumwith itsdustingtoolattachment,vacuum thecoilsto
removedustbuild-up.Donotallowlintordusttoaccumulateonthecoils.Thedefrost
waterpanis located atthebottomrear of the refrigeratorontopof the compressor
(shownleft). Thepanshould be cleanedperiodically.Wipe cleanwitha dampcloth.
Replacing the Light Bulb
To replace the light bulb:
1. Unplugtherefrigerator.
2. Wearglovesasprotection againstpossible brokenglass.
3. Replace old bulb with an appliance bulb of the same wattage.
4. Remembertoplugtherefrigeratorbackin.
Vacation and Moving Tips
Shortvacations: Leavetherefrigerator operatingduringvacationsof1to3 weeks.
Useupallperishableitemsfromtherefrigeratorsection.Wrapandstoreotheritems
inthefreezer.Ifthe unithasanautomaticicemaker,turnofftheicemaker,even
ifyouwillbegone just a few days.
Long vacations: Remove all food and ice if you will be gone 1 month or more. Turn
thecontroltoOFFanddisconnectthepower.Iftheunithasanautomaticicemaker,
turnofftheicemakerandturnthewatersupplyvalvetotheclosedposition.Defrost
andclean theinteriorthoroughly.Leave bothdoorsopen topreventodorand mold
buildup.Blockopenifnecessary.
Moving:Whenmoving the refrigerator,followtheseguidelines to preventdamage:
• Remove all food and other items from both the refrigerator and freezer
compartments. Empty the ice storage bin. Defrost and clean the interior
thoroughly.
• Ifa handtruckisusedin moving,load therefrigeratorfromtheside.
• Turnrollers asfar upaspossible.Thiswill protectthem duringslidingor
moving.
• The cabinet should be well padded and handled with care. DO NOT DROP.
