Introduction
Computermotherboardsandexpansion cardscontainverydelicateIntegrated Circuit(IC)chips.To
protectthemagainstdamagefromstaticelectricity,youshouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryou
workonyourcomputer.
1. Unplugyourcomputerwhen working on theinside.
2. Useagroundedwriststrapbeforehandling computercomponents.Ifyoudonothave
one,touchboth ofyour handstoasafelygroundedobjectortoametalobject,suchas
thepowersupplycase.
3. Holdcomponentsbythe edges andtrynottouch the IC chips,leadsorconnectors, or
othercomponents.
4. Placecomponentsonagroundedantistaticpadoronthebagthatcamewiththe
componentswheneverthecomponentsareseparatedfromthesystem.
5. EnsurethattheATXpower supplyisswitchedoffbeforeyou pluginor removetheATX
powerconnectoronthemotherboard.

Ifthemotherboardhasmountingholes,buttheydon’tlineupwiththeholesonthebaseandthereare
noslotstoattachthespacers,donotbecomealarmedyoucanstillattachthespacerstothemounting
holes.Justcutthebottomportionofthespacers(thespacermaybealittlehardtocutoff,sobecareful
ofyourhands).Inthiswayyoucanstillattachthemotherboardtothebasewithoutworryingaboutshort
circuits.Sometimesyoumayneedtousetheplasticspringstoisolatethescrewfromthemotherboard
PCBsurface,becausethecircuitwiremaybenearbythehole.Becareful,don’tletthescrewcontact
anyprintedcircuitwriteorpartsonthePCBthatarenearthefixinghole,otherwiseitmaydamagethe
boardorcauseboardmalfunctioning.

Chapter 2 Hardware Installation Process
2-1: Installing Processor and CPU Haet Sink
Before installing the processor and cooling fan, adhere to the following
cautions:
1. Theprocessorwilloverheatwithouttheheatsinkand/orfan,resultinginpermanent
irreparabledamage.
2. Neverforcetheprocessorintothesocket.
3. Applythermalgreaseontheprocessorbeforeplacingcoolingfan.
4. PleasemakesuretheCPU type is supported bythemotherboard.
5. Ifyoudo notmatch theCPUsocketPin1andCPUcutedgewell,it maydamage
theCPU.Pleasechangetheinsertorientation.
2-1-1: Installing CPU
Step1 Raisethemetallocking leveron thesocket.
Step2 Remove the plastic coveringonthe CPU socket.
Step3 Liftthemetalcover.
Step4 Insert theCPUwiththecorrect orientation. TheCPUonlyfits in one orientation.
Step5 Once theCPUisproperly placed, please replacethemetalcover and push themetal
leverbackintolockedposition.
