1-1InstallationPrecautions
Themotherboardcontainsnumerousdelicateelectroniccircuitsandcomponentswhichcanbecome
damagedasa resultofelectrostaticdischarge(ESD).Priortoinstallation,carefullyreadtheuser's
manualandfollowtheseprocedures:
•Priortoinstallation,donotremoveorbreakmotherboardS/N(SerialNumber)stickeror
warrantystickerprovidedbyyourdealer.Thesestickersarerequiredforwarrantyvalidation.
•AlwaysremovetheACpowerbyunpluggingthepowercordfromthepoweroutletbefore
installingorremovingthemotherboardorotherhardwarecomponents.
•Whenconnectinghardwarecomponentstotheinternalconnectorsonthemotherboard,
makesuretheyareconnectedtightlyandsecurely.
•Whenhandlingthemotherboard,avoidtouchinganymetalleadsorconnectors.
•Itisbesttowearanelectrostaticdischarge(ESD)wriststrapwhenhandlingelectronic
componentssuchasa motherboard,CPUormemory.IfyoudonothaveanESDwriststrap,
keepyourhandsdryandfirsttoucha metalobjecttoeliminatestaticelectricity.
•Priortoinstallingthemotherboard,pleasehaveitontopofanantistaticpadorwithina
electrostaticshieldingcontainer.
•Beforeunpluggingthepowersupplycable from themotherboard,makesurethepowersupply
hasbeenturnedoff.
•Beforeturningonthepower,makesurethepowersupplyvoltagehasbeensetaccordingto
thelocalvoltagestandard.
•Beforeusingtheproduct,pleaseverifythat all cablesandpowerconnectorsofyourhardware
componentsareconnected.
•Topreventdamagetothemotherboard,donotallowscrewstocomeincontactwiththe
motherboardcircuitoritscomponents.

Step3:
LiftthemetalloadplateontheCPUsocket.
Step4:
HoldtheCPUwithyourthumbandindex
fingers.AligntheCPUpinonemarking(triangle)
withthepinonecorneroftheCPUsocket(or
youmayaligntheCPUnotcheswiththesocket
alignmentkeys)andgentlyinserttheCPU
intoposition.
Step5:
OncetheCPUisproperlyinserted,replace
theloadplateandpushtheCPUsocketlever
backintoitslockedposition.

onthesurfaceoftheinstalledCPU.

PlacethecooleratoptheCPU,aligningthe
fourpushpinsthroughthepinholesonthe
motherboard.Pushdownonthepushpins
diagonally.

Beforeinstallingthecooler,notethedirection
ofthearrowsignc^-onthemalepushpin.
(Turningthepushpinalongthedirectionof
arrowistoremovethecooler,onthecontrary,
istoinstall.)
Step4:
Youshouldheara "click"whenpushingdowneach
pushpin.CheckthattheMaleandFemalepushpins
arejoinedclosely.(RefertoyourCPUcoolerinstal-
lationmanualforinstructionsoninstallingthecooler.)

Aftertheinstallation,checkthebackoftheFinally,attachthepowerconnectoroftheCPU
motherboard.IfthepushpinisinsertedasthecoolertotheCPUfanheader(CPU_FAN)on
pictureabove,theinstallationiscomplete.themotherboard.
^^UseextremecarewhenremovingtheCPUcoolerbecausethethermalgrease/tapebetween
theCPUcoolerandCPUmayadheretotheCPU.InadequatelyremovingtheCPUcoolermay
damagetheCPU.

•Memorymoduleshavea foolproofdesign.A memorymodulecanbeinstalledinonlyone
direction.Ifyouareunabletoinsertthememory,switchthedirection.

ThismotherboardprovidestwoDDR2memorysocketsandsupportsDualChannel
Technology.Afterthememoryisinstalled,theBIOSwillautomaticallydetectthe
specificationsandcapacityofthememory.EnablingDualChannelmemorymode
willdoubletheoriginalmemorybandwidth.
ThetwoDDR2memorysocketsaredividedintotwochannelsandeachchannelhasonememory
socketasfollowing:

Duetochipsetlimitation,readthefollowingguidelinesbeforeinstallingthememoryinDualChannelmode.
1.DualChannelmodecannotbeenabledifonlyoneDDR2memorymoduleisinstalled.
2.WhenenablingDualChannelmodewithtwomemorymodules,itisrecommendedthat
memoryofthesamecapacity,brand,speed,andchipsbeused.

thepowercordfromthepoweroutlettopreventdamagetothememorymodule.
DDR2DIMMsarenotcompatibletoDDRDIMMs.BesuretoinstallDDR2DIMMson
thismotherboard.
Notch
DDR2DIMM
ADDR2memorymodulehasa notch,soitcanonlyfitinonedirection.Followthestepsbelowto
correctlyinstallyourmemorymodulesinthememorysockets.
Step1:
Notetheorientationofthememorymodule.Spreadtheretaining
clipsatbothendsofthememorysocket.Placethememory
moduleonthesocket.Asindicatedinthepictureontheleft,
placeyourfingersonthetopedgeofthememory,pushdown
onthememoryandinsertitverticallyintothememorysocket.

A Readthefollowingguidelinesbeforeyoubegintoinstallanexpansioncard:
•Makesurethemotherboardsupportstheexpansioncard.Carefullyreadthemanualthat
camewithyourexpansioncard.
•Alwaysturnoffthecomputerandunplugthepowercordfromthepoweroutletbefore
installinganexpansioncardtopreventhardwaredamage.

Followthestepsbelowtocorrectlyinstallyourexpansioncardintheexpansionslot.
1.Locateanexpansionslotthatsupportsyourcard.Removethemetalslotcoverfromthechassisbackpanel.
2.Alignthecardwiththeslot,andpressdownonthecarduntilitisfullyseatedintheslot.
3.Makesurethemetalcontactsonthecardarecompletelyinsertedintotheslot.
4.Securethecard'smetalbrackettothechassisbackpanelwitha screw.
5.Afterinstallingallexpansioncards,replacethechassiscover(s).
6.Turnonyourcomputer.Ifnecessary,gotoBIOSSetuptomakeanyrequiredBIOSchangesfor
yourexpansioncard(s).
7.Installthedriverprovidedwiththeexpansioncardinyouroperatingsystem.
