use of the product.

2. INTRODUCTION
SENSORUNIT
ThesensordetectsandtracksthenumberofpeopleaccuratelyusingImageRecognitiontechnology.
The sensor is installed on the ceiling of entrances and passageways of retail, public facilities etc. to capture
movementsofpeoplefromabove.
IN and OUT traffic data is recordedto the sensorcontinuouslyevery minute and the collected data issent tothe
designatedserverviaLAN.
Trafficdatacanbecompiledandusedasmarketinginformation.
The sensor can cover movements of the people in a wide area and recognizes and tracks the movements of
peopleaccuratelythereforecanomitpeoplehoveringnearthecountingareatoprovideanaccuratetrafficcount.
This manual “PALOSSIE AIO (VC-1020 Sensor Unit) Installation Manual (Overseas)” explains the required
stepstoinstallthesystem.
Thismanualisintendedforthesystem installer.
Pleasefollowthe stepsindicatedinthismanualwheninstallingthesensorunit.

Pleasekeepthe SENSORlens freefrom anydust ordebris.
■InstallationLocationCriterion
Installthe SENSOR alongthe center of thedoor width, unless there is an object obstructing the center of the door
width.(Referto Fig.2)
1) When installing the sensor at a corridor or passageway, install the sensor in the center, between the walls or
pillars.(RefertoFig.3)
2) When installing 2 sensor units at 1 entrance (for wide entrances), divide the door width into two sections and
installthesensorsalongthecenterof eachdivided section.(RefertoFig.7)

■Removing the sensorunit cover
1) Insert your fingers in the location indicated in RED bottom of sensor and pull the cover from the unit. (Refer to
[Fig.9])
2) Completelyremovethecoverfromthesensor unit.(Referto[Fig.10])
■Wiringthesensor unit
1) Pullout theLANcable(CAT5)from thesensor unitwireholeandcutthe cableat therequiredlength.
TerminatetheLAN cablewith aRJ-45connector.Usesolidsinglecorewiresandmakeastraight throughcable.
NOTE:Testthecablewith acabletester toensurethat thecablewillfunction

■SensorInstallation
1)There isaspecificsensormountingdirection.
TheDOORIndicator onthesensorunitindicates thedirectionto installthesensor.
Mountthesensor withtheDOORArrowpointedtowardstheentrance.
The sensor can also be installed at areas without doors such as passageways, please install in the most suitable
areainthosecases.(Referto[Fig.14])
2) Secure the sensor unit to the ceiling at 3 points with screws (board anchors or suitable screw depending on
ceiling material).
NOTE:Cablesshouldbeattachedtotheactualsensorunit.Omittedforexplanationpurposes.

8. WEB SETTINGS
Do NOT connect the LAN cable to the END USERS network until the SENSOR UNIT network settings
are completed.
■WebSettings.
(1)ConnectPoEinjector(HUB) to sensorunit.(Refer toFig.19)
NOTE:For someintelligentswitches itmaytakeafewminutes toestablishconnection.
(2)Thesensorwillpower up(willtake20secondstoinitialize).
While the sensor is initializing the LED will light AMBER, after the sensor is initialized the LED will turn on
GREEN.
(3)ConnectthesetupPC to sensorunit viaPoEinjector(HUB)
*NOTE:SetupPCrequirements:OperatingSystem (Windows VISTAorlater)/InternetExplorer8orlater.
*NOTE:The sensor unit default IP address is “192.168.0.249”. Please change the Setup PC network
parametersto thesameIPnetworkrangetoenablecommunicationbetweenthesetupPC
andsensor (e.g.192.168.0.250).
(4)Setup thefollowingnetwork andsensorsetupparameters.
SettheIPaddress, subnetmask,default gateway, portnumber,timesettings,sensor mountingheight,
countingarea,countingdirectionetc.
Pleaserefertothe“Web Settings Manual” for setup details.
9. CONNECT TONETWORK
Aftercompletingthewebsettings,connect theLAN cable toendusersnetwork viaPoEHUB.
(Please insertthe LANconnector, untilit clicks)
*NOTE: Upon connecting the LAN, the sensor will connect to the end user’s network. Recheck the IPAddress of the
sensor, beforeconnectingtothe network.

11. RemarksforPoE(PoweroverEthernet)SwitchingHub
Thesensor(VC-1020/VC-1050)requiresapowersupplyofMax. 7W foreachunit.
Please check the PoE Switching HUB specifications to ensure that the maximum power supply for each port and
theallowable total powersupplyaresufficient.
In the event the power supply is not sufficient the power to the sensor and data communication may become
unstable.
In case the sensor is connected to an existing PoE switch, make sure that there is enough power supply for each
portandthetotalpowersupplyaresufficient.
If there are any other devices connected to the existing PoE switch, calculate the remaining allowable power and
connectthesensorswithintheallowablerange.
