PRECAUTIONS & SPECIFICATIONS
Pumpwave™ Press - Electronic Pump Controller
GENERAL INFORMATION
The PumpWave Press automatic pump controller is completely silent and designed to work with a pump to provide an
automatic supply of clean water to one or two dwellings. This compact kit is comprised of a check valve, electronic circuit,
and reset button. It is designed to maintain constant pressure, prevent pump dry run, and eliminate water hammering. It has
a small reservoir of water to prevent the small draw-o pump starts due to a leaks and dripping taps. If water consumption
exceeds 1 LPM / 0.25 GPM, the pump will operate continuously. When the pump reaches maximum pressure, the controller
automatically switches the pump o. It is crucial to strictly follow the wiring diagrams and installation instructions to avoid
overloading the control circuit and to avoid other problems associated with misuse. Unit selection must consider the fact that
the dierential pressure must be over 0.7 bar / 10 psi.
HANDLING
The unit is supplied suitably packaged to prevent shipping damage. Before installation check that the packaging and unit has
not been damaged or deformed.
These instructions are designed to ensure the correct installation and best use of the PWClassic automatic pump
controller.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
These symbols indicates the risk level deriving from failure to observe the prescribed safety
precautions.
Failure to observe may result in risk of electric shock.
DANGER
Failure to observe may result in risk of injury or property damage.
WARNING
Failure to observe may result in risk of damaging the device and/or pump.
CAUTION
Read these instructions before installing the unit and save them for future reference.
Ensure all connections between the electronic circuit and the power and motor cables are properly made.
Failure to adhere to the instructions can result in premature failure of the pump and voiding of the warranty.

INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Pumpwave™ Press - Electronic Pump Controller
• The discharge pipework diameter should be equal to or larger than that of the pump discharge. It should not rest
against the controller and should be checked for watertightness.
• It is recommended to connect the controller using a flexible hose to the discharge pipework to prevent damage to
the controller.
• No check valve is required.
INSTALLATION
DISCHARGE PIPEWORK ASSEMBLY
• Designed for indoor use only.
• Connect the controller directly to the discharge of the pump or in line with the discharge
pipes. Ensure connections are properly sealed and are watertight (e.g. by using Teflon
tape). Note no taps can be installed between the pump and the controller.
• Note: The controller must remain in a horizontal position at all times, with the suction side
at the bottom and the discharge side facing up.
• The pump and controller assembly should be protected from risk of flooding and installed
in a sheltered and well-ventilated area.
• If the pump and controller are directly connected to the mains supply, the incoming
pressure must be added to that provided by the pump. Total pressure may never exceed
10 Bar / 150 psi.
• If the column of water between the pump and the highest tap exceeds 15m / 50 ft., the
unit cannot be installed directly on the pump. It must be installed higher up the pipework
so that the column of water between the controller
and the highest tap does not exceed 15m / 50 ft. For
example, if the water column extends 20m / 65 ft.
above the pump, then the controller must be installed
5m / 16 ft. above the pump.
• See Installation Diagrams (Fig. 1) for common
installation methods.

• The electrical installation must have multiple isolators with minimum 3mm contact openings. The protection of the
system will be based on a dierential switch (fn=30mA).
• Do not remove the circuit board from the controller.
• Ensure the controller face plate is properly mounted and screws tightened to prevent water ingress into the electrical
circuit board compartment.
• Electrical connection and dimensioning must be
performed by a qualified installer according to
onsite requirements and be in accordance with local
regulations and codes.
• Nominal pump current should not exceed 16A and the
maximum motor power should never exceed 1.5 kW.
• The supply cable should comply with IEC standards or
be of type IEC60227/60228.
• See Electrical Connection Diagram (Fig. 2) for correct
wiring connections.
• The controller can also be connected to dierent kinds
of pump motors as well as remote switches, see Pump

A. The pump does not shut down.
B. The pump operates but provides no flow.
C. The pressure is not sucient.
D. The pump is constantly stopping and starting.
E. The pump does not start.
POSSIBLE FAULTS, CAUSES & SOLUTIONS
• Before starting the pump, ensure that the grid voltage and frequency match those featured on the data plate,
that the pump shaft turns freely, and that the pump body is primed and full of water. The pump should never be
operated dry.
• The controller is pre-set by the manufacturer at a restarting pressure of 1.5 bar / 22 psi. The pressure produced by
the pump should be at least 0.8 bar / 12 psi greater than the controller’s pre-set pressure.
• Open all gate valves in the suction and discharge lines, switch on the power, and the pump will start automatically.
The green “Power On” LED will illuminate. When the pump is running the yellow “Pump On” LED will illuminate.
• During startup leave a discharge tap open to bleed any air that might be in the system.
• Close the tap once water runs smoothly. The pump will automatically stop when it reaches maximum head
pressure.
• If the pump is not properly primed or there is no water supply, the controller will shut the pump down after 10
seconds due to lack of water. The red “Failure” LED will illuminate.
• Once water supply is recovered and/or the pump has been properly primed, repeat the startup operation, and
press and hold the reset button for three seconds.
• If the pump does not operate, does not produce pressure, or does not shut down, determine the cause using the
troubleshooting guide provided below:

MAINTENANCE
• The controller does not require specific maintenance, but it should be emptied when temperatures are low and there is a
risk of freezing or if the unit will not be used for a long period of time.
• If the unit will not be used for a very long period, it should be drained, cleaned, and stored in a dry, well-ventilated area.
DISPOSAL
• Check with local authorities for proper disposal and recycling.
