PRECAUTIONS & SPECIFICATIONS
Pumpwave™ Classic - Electronic Pump Controller
These instructions are designed to ensure the correct installation and best use of the PWClassic automatic pump
controller.
GENERAL INFORMATION
The PumpWave Classic automatic pump controller is completely silent and designed to work with a pump to provide an
automatic supply of clean water to one or two dwellings. This compact kit is comprised of a check valve, electronic circuit,
and reset button. It is designed to maintain constant pressure, prevent pump dry run, and eliminate water hammering. It has
a small reservoir of water to prevent the small draw-o pump starts due to a leaks and dripping taps. If water consumption
exceeds 1 LPM / 0.25 GPM, the pump will operate continuously. When the pump reaches maximum pressure, the controller
automatically switches the pump o. It is crucial to strictly follow the wiring diagrams and installation instructions to avoid
overloading the control circuit and to avoid other problems associated with misuse. Unit selection must consider the fact that
the dierential pressure must be over 0.7 bar / 10 psi.
HANDLING
The unit is supplied suitably packaged to prevent shipping damage. Before installation check that the packaging
and unit has not been damaged or deformed.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
These symbols indicates the risk level deriving from failure to observe the prescribed safety
precautions.
Failure to observe may result in risk of electric shock.
DANGER
Failure to observe may result in risk of injury or property damage.
WARNING
Failure to observe may result in risk of damaging the device and/or pump.
CAUTION
Read these instructions before installing the unit and save them for future reference.
Ensure all connections between the electronic circuit and the power and motor cables are properly made.
Failure to adhere to the instructions can result in premature failure of the pump and voiding of the warranty.

INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Pumpwave™ Classic - Electronic Pump Controller
INSTALLATION
• The electrical installation must have multiple isolators with minimum 3mm contact openings. The protection of the
system will be based on a dierential switch (fn=30mA).
• Electrical connection and dimensioning must be performed by a qualified installer according to onsite requirements
and be in accordance with local regulations and codes.
• Nominal pump current should not exceed 16A and the maximum motor power should never exceed 1.5 kW.
• The supply cable should comply with IEC standards or be of type IEC60227/60228.
• See Electrical Diagram (Fig. 2) for correct wiring
connections.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Fig. 2 - Electrical Connection Diagram
• Designed for indoor use only.
• The controller has a threaded male fitting that can be screwed directly into the pump and a female fitting for
connection to discharge pipework.
• Connect the controller directly to the discharge of the pump or in line with the discharge pipes. Ensure connections
are properly sealed and are watertight (e.g. by using Teflon tape).
• Note: The controller must remain in a vertical position at all times, with the suction side facing down and the
discharge side at a right-angle to the suction side. The pressure gauge will be fitted in the normal reading position.
• The pump and controller assembly should be protected from risk of flooding and installed in a sheltered and well-
ventilated area.
• If the pump and controller are directly connected
to the mains supply, the incoming pressure must be
added to that provided by the pump. Total pressure
may never exceed 10 Bar / 150 psi.
• See Installation Diagrams (Fig. 1) for common
installation methods.

WATER MOVEMENT
Electronic Pump Controller
A. The pump does not shut down.
B. The pump operates but provides no flow.
C. The pressure is not sucient.
D. The pump is constantly stopping and starting.
E. The pump does not start.
POSSIBLE FAULTS, CAUSES & SOLUTIONS
• Before starting the pump, ensure that the grid voltage and frequency match those featured on the data plate,
that the pump shaft turns freely, and that the pump body is primed and full of water. The pump should never be
operated dry.
• Open all gate valves in the suction and discharge lines, switch on the power, and the pump will start automatically.
• During startup leave a discharge tap open to bleed any air that might be in the system.
• Close the tap once water runs smoothly. The system will automatically shut down when it reaches maximum
pump pressure.
• If the pump is not properly primed or there is no water supply, the controller will shut the pump down after 10
seconds.
• Once the water supply is recovered and/or the pump has been properly primed, repeat the startup operation,
and press the red reset button for three seconds.
• If the pump does not operate, does not produce pressure, or does not shut down, determine the cause using the
troubleshooting guide provided below.

Pumpwave™ Classic - Electronic Pump Controller
• To adjust the start pressure, use the adjustment screw located on top of controller.
• Open a tap in the installation and read the pressure shown on the pressure gauge when starting.
• Turn the adjustment screw in the desired direction. See Start Pressure Adjustment Diagram (Fig. 3)
• The start pressure should normally be set to 0.3 Bar/ 4 psi above the static pressure of the installation.

MAINTENANCE
• The controller does not require specific maintenance, but it should be emptied when temperatures are low and there is a
risk of freezing or if the unit will not be used for a long period of time.
• If the unit will not be used for a very long period, it should be drained, cleaned, and stored in a dry, well-ventilated area.
