This unit is factory supplied in Natural Gas.ThisunitcanbeconvertedtoL.P.gasbya
licensedandcertiedgastechnician.Documentationmaybenecessaryforwarrantyissues.
Failuretocomplywiththisinstruction,willvoidwarranty.
See the included L.P. conversion kit for gas conversion parts and instructions.
UnitinstallationmustconformwiththeNationalFuelGasCode,ANSIZ223.1/NFPA54,the
NationalGasInstallationCode,CSA-B149.1,orthePropaneInstallationCode,CSA-B149.2
asapplicableandinaccordancewithlocalcodes.
Theapplianceandit’sindividualshutoffvalve(tobesuppliedbyuser)mustbedisconnected
fromthegassupplypipingsystemduringanypressuretestingofthatsystemattestpressures
inexcessof½psi(3.45kPa).
Thesemodelsaredesigned,built,andsoldforcommercialuseonly.
Instructionsmustbepostedinaprominentlocation.Allsafetyprecautionsmustbetakenintheeventtheusersmells
gas.Safetyinformationcanbeobtainedfromyourlocalgassupplier.
UNPACKING
Unpackthecharbroilerimmediatelyafterreceipt.Removethegascharbroilerfromthecrate;removeallpackaging
onandsurroundingtheunitandbecertaintoremoveallprotectiveplasticsandresiduesfromallsurfaces.Make
surethatallpartsprovidedincludingtheL.P.gasconversionkitarelocated.
Ifthemachineisfoundtobedamaged,savethepackagingmaterialandcontactthecarrierwithinfteen(15)days
ofdelivery.ImmediatelycontactGlobeoryourlocaldealeroftheequipment.You have no recourse to damage
after fteen (15) days.

1. Readthismanualthoroughlybeforeinstallationandoperation.DONOTproceedwithinstallationand
operationifyouhaveanyquestionsordonotunderstandanythinginthismanual.Contactyourlocal

2. Selectalocationforthecharbroilerthathasalevel,solid,nonskidsurfacethatisnonammableandaway
fromwaterhazardsorsinks,andisinawell-lightedworkareaawayfromchildrenandvisitors.
3. Equipmentmustbeinstalledunderproperventilationasrequiredperlocalcode.
NOTICE:Localcodesregardinginstallationandventilationvarygreatlybyarea.TheNationalFireProtection
Association,Inc,statesinitsNFPA96latestedition(seeNFPApageatthebeginningofthismanual)thatlocal
codesare“authorityhavingjurisdiction”whenitcomestorequirementsforinstallationofequipment.Therefore,
installationshouldcomplywithalllocalcodes.
4. Screwlegsintothepermanentlyfastenednutsonthefourcornersoftheunitandtightenbyhand.Legsmust
beinstalledtoadequatelyprovideproperventilationtotheunit.
5. Levelunitbyadjustingthefourfeetandtightensecurely.Theadjustablefeethaveanadjustmentofoneinch
forlineupwithotherGlobecountertoplines.Donotslideunitwithlegsmounted,liftifnecessarytomoveunit.
6. Thesuppliedgaspressureregulatorisfactorysetat6''NaturalgasW.C.or10''forL.P.

removablethruthefrontifthegaslineisdisconnected.
10. Itmaybenecessarytoadjustthebalanceofgasvolumeandairsupplytoeachburner.Thismustbedone
byanauthorizedservicetechnician.
11. Pipethreadingcompoundmustberesistanttotheactionofliqueedpetroleumgases.
DONOTuseanopenametocheckforleaks.Checkallgaspipingforleakswithasoap
andwatersolutionbeforeoperatingunit.
COMMISSIONING:
Commissioningofyournewcharbroilerisoftheutmostimportance.Commissioningisthethoroughandmethodical
testingoftheequipment,subsystems,andsystemstoensurethatthenalproductfunctionsproperlyandsafelyat
theworksite.Byidentifyinganypotentialproblems(i.e.:equipmentlocation,ventilation,localre/electricalcodes,
installation, operator training and certication) prior to equipment being placed into service, costly outages and
potentialdamagesmaybeavoided.

causepropertydamage,personalinjury,ordeathandvoidswarranty.Readtheinstallation
operating and maintenance instructions thoroughly before installing, or operating this
equipment.
Instructionsmustbepostedinaprominentlocation.Allsafetyprecautionsmustbetaken
intheeventtheusersmellsgas.Ifyousmellgas,immediatelyshutoffthemaingasvalve,
extinguishallheatandames,andcall911.Safetyinformationcanbeobtainedfromyour

• Alwaysturnofftheunitwhennotinuse,servicingoradjustinganypartsorattachments,andbeforecleaning.

• Donotoperateanyequipmentwithadamagedorleakinggasline,ignitororvalvesoriftheunitisdroppedor
damagedinanymanner.Callforservice.
• Theuseofattachmentsnotrecommendedorsoldbythemanufacturermaycausere,injuryorevendeath.
• Donotuseoutdoors.
• Donotusethisequipmentforanyuseotherthantheuseintendedbythemanufacturer.
• Neverusethecharbroilerasaheatingsource
• TheGlobecharbroilerdoesnotcontainanyuser-serviceableparts.Globedealersorrecommended
qualiedtechniciansshouldcarryoutrepairs.Donotremoveanycomponentsorservice
panelsonthisproduct.

Beforeoperatingcharbroiler,itshouldbecheckedtoseethatitissittinglevel.Adjustthefeettolevelthechar
broiler.Besurethecatchtrayhasbeenproperlyplaced.
Thepilotlightontheappliancehavebeensetatthefactory.Eachburnerhasapilotlight.
1. Makesureallknobsareinthe“OFF”position.
2. Themaingasvalveshouldbe“CLOSED/OFF”forve(5)minutespriortolightingpilotstoclear
anyexistinggas.(Maingasvalveissuppliedbyothers.)
3. Turn“ON/OPEN”themaingasvalvetotheunit.
4. Lightandholdanignitionsource(match)atthepilots.Whentheameisestablished,removethe
ignitionsource.Repeatthisstepforeachburneraseachburnerhasitsownindividualpilot.
Thepilotcanbereachedthroughtheholesonthefrontoftheunitorthroughthetopgrate,removingthe
radiantorthecharrocksbeforeattemptingtolight.
5. Turneachburnerknob“ON”.Iftheburnersdonotignitepromptly,turntheknobs“OFF”.Fromthe
openinginthefrontpanel,useascrewdriverandturnthepilotvalvescrewcounterclockwisewhichwill
increasetheameheightandrepeatstep4.
Ifthepilotameappearslargerthannecessary,turnitdownandresetburnerignition.Thepilotame
shouldbeassmallaspossiblebutlargeenoughtoguaranteereliableignitionoftheburnerswhenthe
knobsareturnedto“ON”.Theholeslocatedinthefrontpanelarepilotvalveadjustments.Usea
screwdrivertoturnthevalvetoadjusttheameheighttoyourdesiredlevel.
Igniting the Burner
Toignitetheburner,turnknobtothe“ON”position.Thenbackofftothedesiredamelevel.Therangeof
adjustmentisvirtuallyinnitebetween“ON”and“OFF”.
Thespacebetweenthelegsatthebottomadmitscombustionair.DONOTBLOCKTHISSPACE.
Allburnersarelitfromaconstantlyburningpilots.Turningthevalvetothedesiredameheightisallthatis
requiredtoputtheunitinservice.
Donotpermitfanstoblowdirectlyattheunit.Whereverpossible,avoidopenwindowsnexttotheunit’ssidesor
back.Avoidwalltypefanswhichcreateaircross-currentswithinaroom.
Itisalsonecessarythatsufcientairshouldbeallowedtoentertheroomtocompensatefortheamountofair
removedbyanyventilatingsystem.Otherwise,asubnormalatmosphericpressurewilloccur,affectingoperation
andcausingundesirableworkingconditions.
Aproperlydesignedandinstalledhoodwillactastheheartoftheventilatingsystemfortheroomorareainwhich
theunitisinstalled,andwillleavetheunitindependentofchangingdraftconditions.
NOTE:Itmaybenecessarytoadjustthebalanceofgas,volumeandairsupplytoeachburner.Thismustbedone
byanauthorizedservicetechnician.

Priortooperatingyournewbroiler,thoroughlywashtheexteriorwithamilddetergentorsoapsolution.Donotuse
abrasivecleaners,sincethismightdamagethecabinetnish.Ifthestainlesssteelsurfacesbecomediscolored,
scrubbyrubbingonlyinthedirectionofthenishedgrain.
Turntheburnersonabout15-20minutesbeforecookingforpreheating.Settheknobstothedesiredame
heightortemperature.Eachvalvewillcontrolthegasowtotheburnertobringthatareaoftheunituptotheset
temperature.Ifdifferenttemperaturesettingsaretobeused,adjoiningareasshouldbesetatprogressivelyhigher
temperaturesusingthelowesttemperaturesontheoutsideburners.Auniformandsystematicapproachtothe
loadingoftheunitwillproducethemostconsistentproductresults.
NOTE:Whenthebroilerisrstheated,itwillsmokeuntiloilusedinmanufacturing,preservationanddustfrom
storageandshippingareburnedoff.Anhourat“max.”onallburnersisusuallysufcient.
Radiant Char broiler
1.Placetheangledstainlesssteelradiantsintheirpositionasshownin10.1
2.Makesurethattheradiantsaresettingproperlyintotheslotsonthefrontandrearsupports.Radiantsshouldbe
centeredoverstraightsectionoftheburners.
Rock Char broiler
1.Placetheracksthatholdtherocksinplace.
2.Placethecharrocksleavingasmallairspacebetween
themontherack.Donotpileorstackthecharrocks.

Placethetopcookinggrateswiththegridbarssloping

NOTE:Whencookinggratesareplacedslopingtowardthe
front,thegroovesontopwillguidetheexcessfatdrippings
intothegreasetrough.
Thecookinggratesareheavydutycastironwhichwill
oxidizeifemergedinwater.Lightlyoilgratesifnotbeing

OPEN POSITION. PLEASE FOLLOW THE LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS IN THIS MANUAL TO RELIGHT
THE CHAR BROILER’S PILOT LIGHTS.

defectsinmaterialorworkmanshipforaperiodof1year.Thelaborwarrantyisoneyearfromoriginalinstallation
or 18 months from actual factory shipment date whichever date occurs rst. Warranty includes onsite service
