Automatic Engine Start/Stop
Override
The engine will shut off to conserve fuel
when the vehicle is stopped during most
driving. However, the automatic override

usually above 95°F, and the climate
control system is in the Auto mode
cooling the cabin.
• The brake pedal is released while in
Drive or Third (3) or Park.
• The shift lever is in Neutral, Reverse,
Second (2) or First (1).
• The battery pack charge is low.

senger’s side. These outlets can operate
most auxiliary electrical equipment and
devices.
Resetting the System
If table saws, certain air compressors
and other equipment are used that
exceed the maximum power limit of
2,400 watts, a 20-amp protection circuit

occurs, press the APO button to reset
the system.
See your Hybrid Owner Manual Supplement.
Continuous Mode
Use the continuous mode only with the

used as a generator to power critical
appliances when electrical power outlets
are not available.
The engine will be running but the vehi-

if desired.
Note: Never connect the APO system
outlets directly to a building’s circuitry or
another power supply.

• The fuel level becomes low.
(See Low Fuel Level.)
• An overload or ground fault condition
is detected and not reset within five
minutes.
• Vehicle security is violated.
• Engine oil pressure becomes too low.
• The ignition is moved out of Lock.
• The hybrid power system becomes
too hot.
See your Hybrid Owner Manual Supplement.
Overload or Ground Fault
Condition

in normal
mode
Press the
APO button
to reset the
system. The indicator light next to the
button will illuminate when the system is
supplying 120-volt AC power to the

mode, FUEL LEVEL LOW will be dis-
played on the Driver Information Center
and the horn will sound intermittently
for five seconds every minute, for five
