In Bradenton, Florida, there’s a group of people with a never-say-never attitude and a bold idea for
community farming: that the community is just as important as the farming. To them, the job is bigger
than just growing food; it’s about growing the health of the entire area. Geraldson Community Farm
uses the latest sustainable growing methods to produce healthy, safe food for their members and
also the surrounding area, donating nearly 1000 pounds of excess food to the local food bank last
year alone. With GMC’s help, the farm finished installing cisterns for their water retention system
and constructing their community barn, both projects being key steps toward accomplishing their
goal of a zero carbon footprint and educating the public on the benefits of locally grown food. Using
the farm as both a working classroom and library, they provide the community with the resources
they need to learn the best, most efficient ways to farm for themselves.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE GERALDSON COMMUNITY FARM
Since 2005, the Geraldson Community Farm has operated as a Community Supported Agriculture program, an
innovative way to connect local consumers with local farmers. Paying for seeds, equipment and labor, 180 members
have invested financially in the farm. Each week they come to the farm to receive a portion of that week’s harvest.

There’s an American symbol that’s about to disappear. After years of eroding habitat and
destructive policies, the wild horses of the western landscape are rapidly fading away. But
nestled in California’s Jalama Valley is a place that refuses to let that happen. It’s a place that
says never say never. The Return to Freedom Sanctuary has rescued over 1000 wild horses and
burros, preserving entire herd groups. The animals have room to roam and run free, and genetic
bloodlines are kept intact. With GMC’s help, Return to Freedom was able to complete much-
needed maintenance and improvements to the ranch’s land and infrastructure, providing a safer
and more secure environment and helping advance the mission of the sanctuary itself: to protect
the freedom, diversity and habitat of America’s wild horses for generations to come.

THE STORY BEHIND RETURN TO FREEDOM
Return to Freedom is a nonprofit wild horse sanctuary founded in 1997 by Neda DeMayo. The realization of her
life-long dream, the sanctuary’s mission is to protect the freedom, diversity and natural lifestyle of America’s
free-range wild horses, becoming the first sanctuary to focus on rescuing entire family bands of wild horses.

CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION
COMPONENTS
BODY-ON-FRAME DESIGN For the strength to do many of the jobs that would
otherwise require a full-size pickup, Canyon has a high-strength steel ladder-
type chassis. Not only can it withstand heavy loads, it is capable of absorbing
the constant punishment of daily use and helps to isolate the cab from bumps
and road shocks.
DINGHY-TOWING CAPABILITY It’s easy to take your 4WD Canyon with you
on your next RV vacation. Canyon only requires that you shift the transfer
case into neutral, hitch up and go. Other items may be required for safe
towing; see your dealer for details.
EATON® AUTOMATIC LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL Make the most
of the available traction, and do more with your Canyon than you ever
thought possible with the automatic locking rear differential. An available
feature exclusive to GM vehicles, the differential locks to send all of the
engine’s available torque to the driven wheels for maximum driving force
in virtually any situation.
FULLY INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION For a stable, smooth ride and
maximum maneuverability, Canyon features a fully independent front
suspension in every model. Canyon 2WD models use the strong and
compact coil-over-shock system that steps through bumps and potholes;
4WD models use an innovative torsion bar independent front suspension.
MULTILEAF REAR SPRINGS For big capacity when you need it and
a smooth ride when you don’t, all Canyon models are engineered with
multileaf rear springs. They engage progressively as the load in the bed
or on the trailer increases, giving you a stable ride and a constant level
of ride comfort.
STABILITRAK STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM To help you stay in control
when the road is loose, snowy, icy, wet or uneven, StabiliTrak uses a network
of vehicle sensors to monitor how well your Canyon is responding to your
steering commands. If the system determines your vehicle is not
responding properly, it can pulse the brakes or reduce engine power to
help you stay on the path being steered.
TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM To make the most of available traction on
many road surfaces, traction control measures and compares the speed of
your wheels. If it senses one or more wheels starting to spin, such as on a
slippery surface, the system applies individual brakes and manages engine
power to slow the wheel down and maintain traction, so you can move
forward with a better sense of control.
RIDE TUNING
HEAVY-DUTY SUSPENSION (Z85) This standard suspension gives you a
comfortable ride with predictable response that makes daily use for work or
recreation a pleasure. Yet it still handles heavier loads with ease.

Crew Cab models, this transmission is designed for smooth, almost
imperceptible shifts. Built with the strength of millions of miles of
experience, it’s engineered for durability and control.
5-SPEED MANUAL WITH OVERDRIVE To help you get the most response
and performance from your Vortec engine, this transmission is standard
with the I-4 in Regular Cab 2WD WT models to give you complete gear
selection control and the pleasure of shifting for yourself. Low gear is
“deep” for pulling away smoothly on a grade or when fully loaded, while
the overdrive fifth gear drops engine rpm on the highway to reduce noise
and stretch your fuel farther.1
STRENGTH AND RELIABILITY
VARIABLE VALVE TIMING (VVT) This gives you the power of a high-
performance engine with the low-speed response you need for situations
such as trailering or climbing steep inclines. This technology constantly
monitors and changes how the valves open and close to give you near-peak
levels of torque across a wide range of engine speeds.
ONSTAR VEHICLE DIAGNOSTICS2The peace of mind that comes from
knowing the condition of your Canyon’s key systems is as easy as checking
your e-mail. The OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics service that comes standard
with your 6-month trial subscription to OnStar can run hundreds of checks
of your Canyon’s engine, transmission, antilock brakes and more, then
organize the information into an easy-to-read monthly report. OnStar can
also run a check of your vehicle as you drive just by pressing the blue
button and asking the Advisor for an On-Demand Diagnostics check.

POWER RACK-AND-PINION STEERING You command a precise and
accurate response with power rack-and-pinion steering. It provides a
positive on-center feel at highway speeds, as well as easy low-speed assist
for maneuvering in tight spaces.
BRAKING
ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) For confident stops in a variety of
conditions, every Canyon features four-channel antilock brakes. When the
brakes are applied, ABS can detect impending wheel lock-up and then pulse
that wheel’s brake to prevent it.
DESIGN
BEDLINER Treat your truck like you’ve had it forever while you keep the
bed looking new. A thick, custom-fitted bedliner is standard on Canyon to
resist the dents, scratches and scrapes that come from daily use.
CABS Build Canyon your way with a choice of three different cabs. The
Regular Cab holds three across in surprising comfort. The Extended Cab adds
more room with secure interior storage and folding seats that you can access
through a pair of clamshell doors. The Crew Cab offers two extra passenger
doors and a comfortable rear seat for three. Choose the front bench seat, and
Canyon Crew Cab models offer room for up to six passengers. For specific
models and availability, ask your dealer for all the details.
SLIDING REAR WINDOW For a constant flow of fresh air as you drive, just
crack open the available sliding rear window. Standard on SLE-2 and SLT
Extended and Crew Cab models, this window also acts as a pass-through
for easier access to the pickup bed.
TWO-POSITION TAILGATE Sometimes, open and closed isn’t enough. This
tailgate offers you the choice of opening to 45 degrees for carrying long
objects, or the full 90 degrees for loading and unloading.
CHROME INTERIOR ACCENTS Quality is in the details. That’s why
all Canyon models are standard with chrome door handles, chrome-
trimmed air outlets and chrome accents on the front upper door speaker
grilles and the instrument cluster.
AUDIO SYSTEMS
AM/FM/CD MP3 PLAYER For crisp sound reproduction and your choice of
music sources, this available sound system is designed to make listening
easier and more enjoyable. Speed-compensated volume matches audio
levels to background sounds automatically, so you don’t have to make
constant adjustments. Radio Data System (RDS)3answers the question
“who does that song?” If your station broadcasts the data, it can display the
artist and song, as well as any relevant program information.
CONNECTIVITY AND TECHNOLOGY
BLUETOOTH® FOR PHONE4Extend your capabilities just by activating
the Bluetooth feature on your phone or portable device. Standard in all
Canyon models, this feature lets your Bluetooth device work through the
controls and features already installed in your Canyon, including hands-
free operation and dialing.
SEATING
LEATHER-TRIMMED FRONT BUCKET SEATS For the refined feel of
a premium SUV, the Canyon Crew Cab SLT 4WD features heated, power-
adjustable front buckets with eight-way driver and six-way passenger power
seat adjustment. To adjust to different sizes and preferences, both seats
have power lumbar adjustments, as well as integral heated seating surfaces
to help you feel warm faster.
SEATING CAPACITY Canyon is big on the inside, offering you the choice of
many seating configurations. In the SLE-1 Crew Cab model, you can seat
up to six with a comfortable three-passenger rear bench and a 60/40
bench in front. SLT Crew Cabs offer seating for five, with supportive
leather-trimmed front bucket seats and an attractive, functional center
console. Canyon Regular and Extended Cab SLE-1 models feature
a standard 60/40 split front bench with room for three adults.

can automatically send an alert to OnStar. An OnStar Advisor is immediately
connected to your vehicle to help you. Even if you aren’t capable of
responding, the Advisor can use GPS technology to locate you and request
that emergency help be sent right away.
CRISIS ASSIST During severe weather or other natural disasters, OnStar can
offer assistance and help you navigate your way to safety. Just push the red
OnStar emergency button and our specially trained Crisis Assist Team moves
quickly to help you. OnStar can pinpoint your location and provide up-to-date
information from public safety authorities, request that help be sent to you or
even contact family members or loved ones.

DUAL-STAGE FRONTAL/ PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM4To help
reduce the risk of injury to passengers, the dual-stage frontal air
bags in Canyon have sensors that gauge the severity of a crash,
then determine whether to employ one or two levels of inflation.
Canyon also features a Passenger Sensing System for the outboard
front passenger that automatically turns off the air bag in the event
of an impending collision, depending on the weight and position
of the occupant.
HEAD CURTAIN SIDE-IMPACT4These air bags unfurl from the roof rail like
a protective curtain for outboard passengers and can be activated by either
rollover sensors or side-impact sensors.
DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS Let other drivers know where you are. By running
the low-beam lamps in daytime, you can gain recognition by other drivers
from a greater distance, giving you an extra margin of security.
LATCH CHILD SEAT ANCHORING SYSTEM5Make it easier to properly
install a child seat. LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Top tethers for
CHildren. It means that a LATCH-equipped child seat will install to specially
designed retainer hooks in your Canyon. LATCH also enables a child seat
top tether strap to be attached that helps limit movement in a forward crash
to help reduce the chance of injury.
REINFORCED STEEL SAFETY CAGE DESIGN Canyon’s strength is
engineered from the ground up. It begins with a traditional body-on-frame
design that provides a rigid backbone that helps to absorb impacts.
Its body structure is designed to help maintain the integrity of the passenger
compartment in the event of a collision.
TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM6Properly inflated tires are
important to your comfort, vehicle control and economy. This system
uses tiny sensors inside the wheel to “broadcast” tire pressure to your
vehicle, which alerts you to their status and inflation level through the
Driver Information Center. If you subscribe to OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics,
this information is part of their monthly e-mail update.
