The Keyless Access System enables operation of the doors and liftgate without removing the
Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (key fob) from your pocket or purse. The key fob must be
within 3 feet of the door being unlocked or within 3 feet of the liftgate.
KEYLESS UNLOCKING
With the key fob within range:
Press the button on the driver’s door handle to
unlock the driver’s door; press it again within 5
seconds to unlock all doors.
Press the button on any passenger door handle to
unlock all doors.
Press the touchpad on the liftgate handle to open the liftgate.
KEYLESS LOCKING
With the ignition o, the key fob removed from the vehicle, and all doors closed:
Press the button on any door handle to lock all doors immediately.
If Passive Locking is turned on in the Settings menu, all doors will lock automatically after
a short delay.
Note: To change the lock settings, go to Settings > Vehicle > Remote Lock, Unlock, Start.

Press twice to open or
close the liftgate. Press

Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm
Press and release to locate your vehicle.
The exterior lamps will ash and the horn
will sound 3 times.
Press and hold to activate the alarm. Press
again to cancel the alarm.
Note: To change the remote settings, go to
Settings > Vehicle > Remote Lock, Unlock,
Start.
Remote Vehicle StartF
Press and release the Lock button and
then immediately press and hold the but-
ton until the turn signal lamps ash to start
the engine from outside the vehicle. After
entering the vehicle, turn on the ignition.
• During a remote start, the engine will run
for 15 minutes. Repeat these steps to run
the engine for an additional 15 minutes.
A remote start can be extended once.
• Press and hold the button until
the parking lamps turn o to cancel a
remote start.
Remote Start Heated/Ventilated SeatsF
Select the Remote Start Auto Heat Seats
or Remote Start Auto Cool Seats option in
the Vehicle Settings to have the heated or
ventilated seats turn on during a remote
start. The seat button indicators do not illu-
minate and the temperature performance
of the unoccupied seats may be reduced
during a remote start.

KEYLESS (PUSHBUTTON) START
AUTO ENGINE STOP/START OPERATION
F Optional equipment
The Remote Keyless Entry transmitter (key fob) must be in the vehicle to turn on the ignition.
STARTING THE ENGINE
With the vehicle in Park or Neutral, press
the brake pedal and then press the
ENGINE START/STOP button to start the
engine. The green indicator on the button
will illuminate.
Note: If the key fob battery is weak, place the
key fob in the driver-side cupholder of the center
console to enable the engine to start. Replace the
key fob battery as soon as possible.
STOPPING THE ENGINE/OFF
Shift to Park and press the ENGINE START/STOP button to turn o the engine.
Power will be available for 10 minutes to operate the audio system until the driver’s door is
opened and to operate the windows and sunroofFuntil any door is opened.
ACCESSORY MODE
With the engine o and the brake pedal NOT depressed, press the ENGINE START/STOP
button to place the ignition system in the accessory mode. The amber indicator on the
button will illuminate.

The fuel-saving stop/start system automatically turns o the engine, referred to as an Auto
Stop, when the brake pedal is pressed and the vehicle is at a complete stop, if operating
conditions are met. In Auto Stop mode, the tachometer will read AUTO STOP. When the
brake pedal is released or the accelerator pedal is pressed, the engine will restart. After
parking the vehicle and turning o the engine, the tachometer will read OFF.
The engine may remain running or restart when the vehicle is stopped if:
• A minimum vehicle speed is not reached.
• The engine or transmission is not at the required operating temperature.
• The outside temperature is not in the required operating range.
• The transmission is in any gear other than Drive (D).
• The battery charge is low.
• The climate control system requires the engine to
run based on the current settings.
• The Auto Stop time has reached the maximum
allowed time.
DISABLING AUTO ENGINE STOP/START
Press the
$
Auto Stop button (A), located below the infotainment screen, when the engine
is running to disable the stop/start system. When the system is disabled, the button indica-
tor will not be illuminated. The system is enabled each time the vehicle is started.

STEERING WHEEL ADJUSTMENT
FRONT SEATS
With the vehicle parked, push down the lever under the steering column to adjust the
steering wheel. The steering wheel can be moved up or down and in or out. Pull up the
lever to lock the steering wheel in place.

POWER SEAT ADJUSTMENTSF
A. Seat Adjustment
Move the horizontal control to slide the
seat forward or rearward, and to tilt, raise
or lower the seat.
B. Seatback Recline Adjustment
Move the top of the vertical control to
recline or raise the seatback.
C. Lumbar Support Adjustment
Press and hold the rear control to adjust
the lumbar support.
SET MEMORY SEAT POSITIONSF
With the ignition On or in Accessory mode:
1. Adjust the seat and power outside mirrors
to the desired positions.
2. Press and release the SET button on the
driver’s door. A beep will sound.
3. Immediately press and hold button 1or 2until two beeps sound.
To store a seat position for when exiting the vehicle, repeat these steps using the Exit
button instead of button 1or 2.
RECALL MEMORY SEAT POSITIONSF
Press and hold button 1, 2 or Exit until the seat and mirrors reach the set position.
The memory/exit positions can be programmed to be recalled automatically.
To set Seat Entry Memory and Seat Exit Memory, go to Settings > Vehicle > Seating
Position.
FOLD-FLAT FRONT PASSENGER
SEATBACK
1. Lower the head restraint and move the
seat as far back as possible.
2. Lift the recline lever (D) and fold the seat-
back forward.
To raise the seatback, lift the recline lever
and fully raise the seatback.

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE
To apply the parking brake, press the Parking Brake button on the left side of the
instrument panel.
To release the parking brake, turn on the ignition, press the brake pedal, and then press
the button.

RECLINE THE REAR SEAT
Pull the lever (A) on the top of the seatback
and move the seatback to the desired posi-
tion. Release the lever.
FOLD THE REAR SEATBACK
1. Press the button on the head restraint.
It will fold automatically.
2. Pull the lever (A) on the top of the seatback
and fold the seatback forward. A tab near
the lever is visible when the seatback is
unlatched.
3. To fold a rear seatback from the cargo
area, pull the top leverF(B) (passenger-side
seat) or bottom leverF(C) (driver-side seat)
located on the passenger’s side of the rear
cargo area.
REAR SEAT REMINDER
A Rear Seat Reminder message may display on
the Driver Information Center when the vehicle
is turned o. Always check the rear seat before exiting the vehicle. The system does not
actually detect people or items in the rear seat; instead, under certain conditions, it detects
when a rear door is opened and closed during a trip, indicating that there may be something
in the rear seat.

ELECTRONIC PRECISION SHIFT TRANSMISSION
The Electronic Precision Shift transmission
control switches are located on the front
console. The selected gear position illuminates
in red on the switch. Bring the vehicle to a
complete stop before shifting the transmission.
Park – Press the Pbutton to shift to Park.
Reverse – Pull the R switch to shift to Reverse.
Neutral – Press the N button to shift to Neutral.
Drive – Pull the Dswitch to shift to Drive.
ELECTRONIC RANGE SELECT (MANUAL) MODE
Electronic Range Select Mode allows you to choose the top gear limit. It can be used to limit
the vehicle’s speed when driving on a downhill grade.
1. Press the L (Low) button.
2. Press the + (plus) or – (minus) button to increase or decrease the gear range available.
The current gear is displayed on the Driver Information Center.
If vehicle speed is too high or low for the requested gear, the shift will not occur.
CAR WASH MODE
The Car Wash Mode enables the vehicle to remain in Neutral when using automatic car
washes. Refer to your Owner’s Manual for more information.

LIGHTING
EXTERIOR LAMP CONTROL
Rotate the outer band on the turn signal lever to activate the exterior lamps.
O/On
AUTO
Automatically activates the Daytime Running
Lamps (DRLs) or the headlamps/exterior lamps
depending on outside light conditions.

INTELLIBEAM SYSTEM
The IntelliBeam system automatically turns the high-beam headlamps on/o based on traf-
c conditions while driving at night. A green indicator displays on the instrument cluster
when the system is on; a blue indicator displays when the high-beam headlamps are on.
Press the button on the end of the turn signal lever with the exterior lamp control in
the AUTO or Headlamps position to turn the IntelliBeam system on or o.
Note: IntelliBeam activates the high-beam headlamps only when driving over 25 mph. The
IntelliBeam system is turned o if the fog lamps are on.

HEAD-UP DISPLAY

The Head-Up Display (HUD) projects some key information, such as speed, audio/phone
information, navigation directions, performance information, and other indicators on the
screen on top of the instrument panel. The HUD controls are located on the left side of the
instrument panel.

Press AUTO.
Set the temperature.
The system automatically controls the fan speed, air delivery, air conditioning and
recirculation functions to maintain the set temperature. Allow time for the system to reach
the desired temperature. If the functions are manually adjusted, the Auto indicator turns o
and automatic operation for that function is canceled.
AUTO DEFOGFAND AUTO REAR WINDOW DEFOGF
Auto Defog and Auto Rear Defog automatically turn on based on temperature and humidity
conditions.
Go to Settings > Vehicle > Climate and Air Quality to turn the Auto Defog and Auto Rear
Defog settings on or o.

AUDIO STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS
The Driver Information Center (DIC) on the instrument cluster displays a variety of vehicle
system information and warning messages. Use the DIC controls on the right side of the
steering wheel to view the available menus and customize the settings.

The infotainment system uses a Bluetooth or USB connection to link to a compatible device,
such as a smartphone, cell phone, USB ash drive or portable audio player/iPod®, and oers
hands-free voice control. You can use simple gestures on the touchscreen, such as tap,
drag and swipe, to interact with the system. For assistance, call 1-855-4-SUPPORT
(1-855-478-7767) or go to my.gmc.com/how-to-support.

The Home page icons can be arranged in any order.
1. Press the Home button.
2. To enter edit mode, touch and hold the Home page icon to move.

INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM
SETTING THE TIME
1. Select Settings on the Home page.
2. Select System tab > Time/Date > Set Time.
3. Touch the arrows to adjust the hours and minutes.
4. Press the BACK button to exit the menu.
Turn on Automatic Time and Date to have the time updated automatically as the system
obtains information from the cellular network.
STORING FAVORITES
Radio stations from all bands (AM, FM or
SiriusXMF) can be stored in any order.
1. Display the desired radio station.
2. Select the desired page of favorite
screen buttons.
3. Touch and hold one of the favorite screen
buttons until a beep is heard.
Note: To change the number of favorites
displayed, go to Settings > System > Favorites.
NATURAL VOICE RECOGNITIONF
Control the music source and make phone calls hands-free (after pairing your Bluetooth-
enabled phone) using the natural voice recognition system.
1. Press the Push to Talk button on the steering wheel.
2. The radio will play a prompt.
3. After the prompt, say what you want it to do using natural speech.
Examples: “Call Dave” or “Tune to 99.5 FM.” Say “Help” for assistance.
IN-VEHICLE APPSF
In-vehicle apps oering entertainment, news, weather, travel information and more, includ-
ing Amazon Alexa Built-In, are available on the infotainment screen or can be downloaded
through the Apps icon. Downloading and using the apps requires internet connectivity, and
may require a data plan, accessed through the vehicle’s available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, if
active, or a mobile hotspot. Go to onstar.com for data plan information.
PORTABLE AUDIO DEVICES
The front USB ports are for data and charg-
ing. Other USB ports are for charging only.
Connect an iPod®, iPhone®, MP3 Player,
or a USB ash drive to a USB port. Search
for music on-screen or by voice com-
mands.
With a portable device connected, touch
Audio, and then touch More, if necessary,
to select the USB device.

BLUETOOTH® SYSTEM
Read your Owner’s Manual for important information about using the Bluetooth system while driving.
Before using a Bluetooth-enabled device in the vehicle, it must be paired with the in-vehicle
Bluetooth system. The vehicle must be stopped to pair a device. Not all devices will support
all functions. Visit my.gmc.com/how-to-support for more information.
PAIR A PHONE
1. To use voice recognition, press the Push to Talk button on the steering wheel;
after the prompt, say “Pair Phone.”
To use the infotainment screen, select the Phone icon > Connect Phones > Add Phone.
2. Start the pairing process on your phone. From your phone’s Bluetooth settings, select the
name shown on the infotainment screen.
3. Follow the pairing instructions.
4. When pairing is complete, the phone screen is displayed. Your phone book may be down-
loaded depending on the phone.
SECONDARY PHONE
A secondary phone can be paired to the Bluetooth system. The system connects to the
phone that is set to First to Connect. The secondary phone can only receive calls.
To set the rst and secondary phones, select the Phone icon > Phones > Information.

INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM
APPLE CARPLAY® AND ANDROID AUTO™
Apple CarPlay or Android Auto capability is available through a compatible phone using the
Apple CarPlay or Android Auto icon on the Home page.
1. Download the Android Auto app to your compatible phone from the Google Play Store.
No app is required for Apple CarPlay.
2. There are two ways to set up device projection while parked:
• Wireless Connection – Connect your phone by pairing it to the in-vehicle Bluetooth
system. Turn on wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto in your phone’s settings.
• Wired Connection – Connect your phone to a USB data port using the USB cable
provided with your phone. Aftermarket USB cables may not work.
3. Follow the instructions on the infotainment system and your phone.
4. The Apple CarPlay or Android Auto icon will illuminate when connected. Touch the icon to
have your apps displayed.
To exit Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, press the Home button. To return to Apple
CarPlay or Android Auto, press and hold the Home button.

WIRELESS PHONE CHARGING

VEHICLE CUSTOMIZATION
The Wireless Phone Charging system is locat-
ed in front of the center console armrest. To
check phone compatibility, visit
my.gmc.com/how-to-support. See your
phone retailer for required phone accessories
or charging adapters.
1. The vehicle must be On, or Retained
Accessory Power must be active.
2. Remove all objects from the charging pocket.
3. Place the phone, screen facing rearward, in the pocket.
4. The charging symbol will display on the infotainment screen when charging.

Some vehicle features can be turned on/o
or customized using the Settings menus and
the infotainment screen icons. The Settings
menus include System, Apps, and Vehicle.
1. Select Settings on the Home screen.
2. Select the desired menu tab.
3. Select the desired feature and setting.
4. Press BACK to exit each menu.

4G LTE WI-FI® HOTSPOT
TEEN DRIVER
With the vehicle’s available 4G LTE Wi-Fi Hotspot, up to 7 devices (phones, tablets and
laptops) can be connected to high-speed internet. For more information on use and system
limitations, visit my.gmc.com/how-to-support.
To retrieve the name and password for the hotspot, select the Wi-Fi Hotspot icon on the
Home page or go to Settings > System > Wi-Fi Hotspot.

Teen Driver allows multiple keys to be registered for beginning drivers. When active, the
system automatically activates certain safety systems, allows setting of some features, and
limits the use of others. An in-vehicle Report Card records vehicle data about driving behav-
ior. When the vehicle is started with a registered key, a Driver Information Center message
displays that Teen Driver is active.
To create a Personal Identication Number, register a key, change Teen Driver settings,
or access the Report Card, go to Settings > Vehicle tab > Teen Driver.

Safety or driver assistance features are not a substitute for the driver’s responsibility to operate
the vehicle in a safe manner. The driver should remain attentive to trac, surroundings and road
conditions at all times. Read your Owner’s Manual for important feature limitations and information.
SAFETY ALERT SEATF – The driver’s seat pulses — left side, right side or simultaneously —
to alert the driver of the direction of potential hazards.
Audible alerts or seat-pulsing alerts may be selected. To change the alert settings, go to
Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Alert Type.
FORWARD COLLISION ALERT – The Vehicle Ahead Indicator is green when a vehicle is
detected ahead that you’re following and is amber when following a vehicle ahead much
too closely. When approaching a vehicle directly ahead too rapidly, a red alert ashes on the
windshield and rapid beeps sound or the Safety Alert SeatFpulses (if selected).
Press the Forward Collision Alert button on the steering wheel to set the alert timing
to Far, Medium, or Near. This is also the Adaptive Cruise ControlFfollowing gap setting.
FOLLOWING DISTANCE INDICATOR – The following distance to the vehicle ahead is indicat-
ed in seconds under the Info menu on the Driver Information Center. If no vehicle is detected
ahead, dashes are displayed.
AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING – At speeds below 50 mph, the system works with
Forward Collision Alert to help you avoid or reduce the severity of a front-end collision
with a vehicle you’re following. Camera technology is used to automatically provide hard
emergency braking or enhance the driver’s hard braking.
To set Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Alert to Alert and Brake, Alert,
or O, go to Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Forward Collision System.
LANE KEEP ASSIST WITH LANE DEPARTURE WARNING – The system may help you avoid
collisions due to unintentional lane departures. The Lane Keep Assist Indicator is green if
the system is available to assist. If the vehicle approaches a detected lane marking without
using a turn signal in that direction, the system may assist by gently turning the steering
wheel to help prevent lane departure and display an amber . If active driver steering is
not detected, the amber may ash and beeps may sound or the Safety Alert SeatFmay
pulse (if selected) on the side of the departure direction as the lane marking is crossed. The
system does not continuously steer the vehicle; the driver needs to steer and be in complete
control of the vehicle.
To turn on or o, press the Lane Keep Assist button on the center console.
FRONT PEDESTRIAN BRAKING – During daytime driving below 50 mph, the system can
detect pedestrians directly ahead and display an amber indicator. When approaching a
detected pedestrian too quickly, a red alert ashes on the windshield and rapid beeps sound
or the Safety Alert SeatFpulses (if selected). The system may also automatically provide
hard emergency braking or enhance the driver’s hard braking. Nighttime and low visibility
performance is limited.
To set to Alert and Brake, Alert, or O, go to Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection
Systems > Front Pedestrian Detection.
LANE CHANGE ALERT WITH SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERTF– While driving, the system displays
a warning symbol on the left or right side mirror when a vehicle is detected rapidly
approaching or is in that side blind zone area. The warning symbol ashes if a turn signal is
activated when a vehicle has been detected on the same side.
To turn on or o, go to Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Lane Change Alert.

REAR VISION CAMERA – When the vehicle is in Reverse, a view of the area behind the
vehicle displays on the infotainment screen. Vehicle speed must be below 8 mph.
HD SURROUND VISIONF– The system uses
multiple cameras to display a high-resolution
image of the area around your vehicle along
with front and rear camera views on the info-
tainment screen. The system operates when
the vehicle is in Reverse or Drive while moving
less than 8 mph.
Touch one of the Camera buttons on
the infotainment screen to change the
camera view.
Touch the Guidance Lines button on the
infotainment screen to turn the guidelines
on or o.
FRONTFAND REARFPARK ASSIST –
During low-speed parking maneuvers, the
system provides “distance to closest object”
information on the Driver Information Center
and beeps sound or the Safety Alert SeatF
pulses (if selected). When an object is very
close, 5 beeps sound or the Safety Alert
SeatF pulses (if selected).
To turn on or o, press the Park Assist
button on the center console.
REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERTF– When the
vehicle is in Reverse, the system warns of detected cross-trac approaching in either direc-
tion by displaying a red alert on the infotainment screen and directional beeps sound or the
Safety Alert SeatFpulses (if selected).
To turn or o, go to Settings > Vehicle > Collision/Detection Systems > Rear Cross
Trac Alert.
AUTOMATIC PARKING ASSISTF– Automatic Parking Assist steers the vehicle to help
you park in parallel or perpendicular spaces while you follow commands and control the
gear selection, acceleration and braking. The system works at speeds below 18 mph.
1. Press the Automatic Parking Assist button on the center console. A beep sounds
and a parking assist display is shown on the infotainment screen. The system will begin
searching for a large enough parking space.
2. Once a space is found, shift the vehicle into Reverse or Drive as directed, follow the com-
mands on the infotainment screen and apply the accelerator or brake as needed. The
steering wheel will briey vibrate as a reminder to remove your hands. Parking Complete
will be displayed and a beep will sound when the parking maneuver is complete.

The Traction Select system automatically adjusts various vehicle control systems based on
driving preferences, weather and road conditions.
Rotate the Driver Mode Control knob on the center console to the desired mode.

The AWD indicator will illuminate when an all-
wheel drive mode is selected.

SETTING CRUISE CONTROL
1. Press the On/O button. The Cruise Control symbol will illuminate in white on the
instrument cluster.
2. When traveling at the desired speed, press the SET– button to set the speed. The
symbol will illuminate in green on the instrument cluster.
ADJUSTING CRUISE CONTROL
RES+ Resume/Accelerate
Press to resume a set speed. When the
system is active, press to increase speed.
SET– Set/Coast
When the system is active, press to decrease
speed.
Cancel
Press the button, or press the brake pedal,
to cancel the Cruise Control without erasing the set speed from memory. The set speed is
erased when Cruise Control or the vehicle ignition is turned o.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
F
The system enhances regular Cruise Control to maintain a driver-selected following gap —
the time between your vehicle and a vehicle detected directly ahead — by accelerating or
braking automatically while you continue to steer.
Press the Following Gap button to select a targeted following gap setting of Far,
Medium, or Near. This is also the Forward Collision Alert setting.
Press and hold the Cancel button to switch between regular Cruise Control and
Adaptive Cruise Control.

OPEN/CLOSE THE POWER LIFTGATE
Press the Power Liftgate button twice
on the Remote Keyless Entry transmitter
(key fob).
Press the knob (A) on the driver’s door .
Press the touchpad (B) on the liftgate
handle to open the liftgate.
Press the button (C) next to the pull
handle to close the liftgate.
PROGRAMMING THE LIFTGATE HEIGHT
1. Turn the knob to the 3/4 mode.
2. Open the liftgate. Adjust it manually to the
desired height.
3. To save the setting, press and hold the
button (C) next to the pull handle until
a beep sounds.
4. In the 3/4 mode position, the power liftgate
will open to the programmed height.
HANDS-FREE OPERATIONF
To open or close the liftgate hands-free,
kick your foot straight under the driver’s
side of the rear bumper, left of center. The key fob must be within 3 feet of the liftgate.
Depending on operating conditions, the GMC logo is projected on the ground near the
rear bumper to indicate the kicking motion location for hands-free operation.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM
HILL DESCENT CONTROL
Hill Descent Control sets and maintains vehicle speed from 2–14 mph while descending a
very steep incline in a forward or reverse gear.
Press the Hill Descent Control button on the center console. Vehicle speed must be
below 31 mph to turn on the system.
Increase or decrease speed by applying the accelerator or brake pedal or use the Cruise
Control +/– buttons on the steering wheel. The adjusted speed becomes the new set
speed. The symbol ashes on the instrument cluster when the system is actively
applying the brakes to maintain vehicle speed.

The Low Tire Pressure warning light on the instrument cluster illuminates when one
or more of the vehicle’s tires is signicantly underinated. Fill the tires to the proper tire
pressures listed on the Tire and Loading Information label located below the driver’s door
latch. Current tire pressures can be viewed on the Driver Information Center.
