PREFITTED MAINS PLUGS
For your convenience a mains plug has been fitted to this appliance. For your safety please observe the

1. Should the fuse in the plug fail remove the plug from the wall socket and replace the fuse with a 3 Amp

On adjusting volume
•Do not turn up the volume while listening to a portion with very low
level inputs or no audio signals. If you do, the loudspeaker may be
damaged when a loud section is played.
If There is Noise Interference on the TV While a Broadcast is
being Received
Depending on the reception condition of the TV, interference may ap-
pear on the TV monitor while you watch a TV broadcast and the unit is
left on. This is not a malfunction of the unit or the TV. To watch a TV
broadcast, turn off the unit.
Service
•Do not attempt to service the unit yourself.
•Please refer any service to the nearest service centre.
Power Cord Protection
To avoid any malfunctions of the unit, and to protect against electric
shock, fire or personal injury, please observe the following:
•Hold the plug firmly when connecting or disconnecting the AC power
cord.
•Keep the AC power cord away from the heating appliances.
•Never put any heavy object on the AC power cord.
•Do not attempt to repair or reconstruct the AC power cord in any
way.
Location and Handing
•Air vents are provided in the cabinet to prevent excessive tempera-
tures inside the unit. Do not place this unit in closed spaces, cover
it, or otherwise block the vents.
•Do not place this unit in direct sunlight, or near heat sources.
•Keep this unit away from strong magnetic objects.
•Do not insert or drop anything into this unit through the air vents as
this could cause serious damage, possibly resulting in fire.
•Do not place any object containing water or other liquids on this
unit. In the event that liquid should enter the cabinet, unplug this
unit immediately and contact the retailer or service centre immedi-
ately.
•Do not remove the cabinet. Touching parts inside the cabinet could
result in electric shock and / or damage to the unit.
•Do not use the unit in a car. The operation can not guaranteed.
Nonuse Periods
•When the unit is not being used, turn the unit off.
•When left unused for a long period of time, the unit should be
unplugged from the household AC outlet.
No Fingers or Other Objects Inside
•Do not put any foreign object on the disc tray.
Stacking
•Place the unit in a horizontal position, and do not place anything
heavy on it.
Condensation
Moisture may form on the pickup lens in the following conditions:
•Immediately after a heater has been turned on.
•In a steamy or very humid room.
•When the unit is suddenly moved from a cold environment to a
warm one.
If moisture forms inside this unit, it may not operate properly. In this
case, turn on the power and wait about one hour for the moisture to
evaporate.

Inserting Batteries into the Remote Control
You can control the system using the supplied remote. Insert two AAA batteries by matching the + and - on the batteries. When using the re-
mote control, point it at the remote sensor on the front panel of this system.
Note
•Do not leave the remote in an extremely hot or humid place.
•Do not use a new battery with an old one.
•Do not drop any foreign object into the remote casing. Particularly when replacing the batteries.
•Do not expose the remote sensor to direct sunlight or lighting apparatuses. Doing so many cause a malfunction.
•If you will not use the remote for an extended period of time, remove the batteries to avoid possible damage from battery leakage and
corrosion.

Loudspeaker Connections
Connect the supplied speakers using the fixed speaker wires on the back of
panel matching the colours of the sockets to the colour of the speaker wires.
•Connect the supplied speaker wire to the FR, FL, C, SR, SL loudspeaker ter-
minals.
•Connect the supplied speaker wire to the SUB speaker terminal.
To avoid short-circuiting the speakers
•Short-circuiting of the speakers may damage the system. To prevent this,
make sure to take the following precautions when connecting the speakers.
•Make sure the stripped end of each speaker cord does not touch another
speaker terminal or the stripped end of another speaker cord.
Examples of poor conditions of the speaker cord
•Stripped speaker cord is touching another speaker terminal.
•Stripped cords are touching each other due to excessive removal of insula-
tion.
Note
•Be sure to match the speakers cord correctly.
•For optimal sound performance, use the supplied speakers.
•Do not connect and other speakers to this amplifier.

•If you have poor FM reception
For better FM reception, use a 75 ohm coaxial cable (not supplied) to connect the system to an outdoor FM aerial. Or select MONO mode, the reception
will no longer be in stereo but the noise content will be greatly reduced.

•Use the supplied audio cables to connect AUX socket to the corresponding AUDIO OUT socket on the TV, VCR or other audio/visual components.
Connecting the MW/FM aerial
•Connect the supplied MW loop aerial to the MW socket. Postion the loop aeria to receive the clearest sound.
•Connect the supplied FM aeria to the FM socket . Move the aerial in various station until the clearest signal is received.
Note
•Keep the aeria as far away as possible from the TV, AUX or any radiation source to prevent unwanted noise.
•Full unravel and extend the FM wire aerial for best reception.

•The best height for the front speakers is when the high frequency speakers
(tweeters) are at ear height (while seated).
•The best height for the centre speaker is at the height of your ears (while
seated).
•The height of the rear speakers should not be less than the height of your
ears (while seated).

The level of each speaker can be adjusted as follows. At the same time, you can
adjust the Treble and Bass level of the front speakers.
1Press the FL+/-, CENTRE+/-, FR+/-, SR+/-, SL+/-,SUB+/-button to select a
channel. The level of the channel will appear on the front panel display.
FL (Front-left level), CNT (Center level), FR (Front-right level), SR (Surround-
right level), SL (Surround-left level) and SUB (Subwoofer level) adjustable
range: -15 dB to +10 dB, 1 dB/step.
2Use the FL+/-,CENTRE+/-,FR+/-,SR+/-,SL+/- ,SUB+/- or VOL +/- buttons to
adjust the selected channel’s level.
If you do not press the FL+/- , CENTRE+/-, FR+/- , SR+/- , SL+/- , SUB+/- orVOL+/-
button for a few seconds, the new level is stored in the system.
To adjust the volume of all the speakers (Master Volume) at one time
Use the VOL +/- buttons in normal mode.
Selecting the listening mode
•Press SURROUND to select the listening mode as following:
Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II, Stereo.
Please note these options vary depending on the disc or source selected.
Setting up the surround sound system
You must connect all the speakers and setup the system properly in order to en
joy the Digital Cinema experience at home.
Position
For the best possible surround sound all the speakers other than the subwoofer
should be the same distance from the listening position (

).
However, this system allows you to place the centre speaker up to 1.6 metres
closer (
B
) and the rear speakers up to 4.6 metres closer (
C
) to the listening
position.
The front speakers can be placed from 1.0 to 15.0 metres (

) from the listen
ing position.
•You can place the subwoofer at any position. If possible, place the subwoofer
near a corner to maximize the bass response.

Power on and off
1Press the STANDBY-ON button on the remote control to switch on the system.
2To switch on standby mode, press this button again.
Volume control
The master volume level range is from 0 to 40 dB.
1In any active mode, press VOL +/- to increase or decrease the master volume.

2If you press this button once, the volume level will be increased 1 unit or
decreased one step 1 unit.
3Press and hold to increase/decrease the volume level.
NOTE:
•When master volume less than 20 dB or equal 20 dB, switch power off, then
power on, the volume level will resume to last setting. Otherwise, when mas-
ter volume more than 20 dB, switch power off, then power on, the volum level
will return to 20 dB.
Mute control
1The volume is muted temporarily when pressing the MUTE button on the remote
control.
2Press MUTE, VOLUME or related with sound function buttons to release the
MUTE function.
Surround mode
1DVD mode
•Press SURROUND button repeatedly to select Pro LogicgMOVIEgMUSICg
STEREO cyclically.
2TUNER mode
•Press SURROUND repeatedly to select Pro LogicgMOVIEgMUSICgSTE-
REO cyclically.
3AUX mode
•press SURROUND repeatedly to select the following item:
Pro LogicgMOVIEgMUSICgSTEREO cyclically.
•When select the Pro Logic, the FR, C.FL.SR.SL.SUB LED will light, “ ”
will display on the VFD.
•When select the Stereo, the L, R, SUB led will light, “Stereo”will be flash a time
on display, then the VFDwill display “AUX”.
4COAXIAL mode
•
If receive the DOLBY DIGITALsignal, press this button repeatedly to select
the following item: DOLBY DIGITALgSTEREO.
•If receive the PCM signal, press this button repeatedly to select the following
item:Pro LogicgMOVIEgMUSICgSTEREO.
NOTE:
•In stereo mode, the SR+/-, SL+/-, CENTRE+/- function will not operate.
Source mode
1Press SOURCE button on the front panel repeatedly to select source:
COAXàFMàMWàAUXàTV/VCRàDVD.
Test tone mode
1Press TEST TONE button, the system will test
speaker(FLàCENàFRàSRàSLàSUB)cyclically, the noise will repeatedly
go from speaker to speaker.
2In test tone on mode, press any key on remote control can exit the function.
3Front-L, Centre, Front-R, Surround-R, Surround-L, Subwoofer these surround
channel Level adjust range is -15 to +10dB.
Setting the speakers
You can adjust the delay times (centre and rear only) and set dynamic on or off.
These adjustments let you optimize the sound according to your surrounding and
setup
1In COAXIAL mode only, press and hold PROG for five seconds to enter system
setup.
2Press VOL+/- to select one of the following options: CENTRE DELAY, REAR
DELAY, DYNAMIC or MENU OFF.
3Press PROG to confirm.
CENTRE DELAY: - Select this to set the delay time in relation to the listening
position/ distance from centre speaker: 5ms, 3ms, 2ms, 1ms or OFF(default
setting).
REAR DELAY: - Select this to set the delay time in relation to the listening position/
distance from rear speakers: 15ms, 12ms, 9ms, 6ms, 3ms or OFF(default set-
ting).
DYNAMIC : - Set the dynamic setting ON or OFF(default setting).
MENU OFF : - Select this exit system menu directly.
4Use the VOL+/- to adjust the settings that best suit your surround sound needs.
5Press PROG to confirm your selection.
NOTE:
•Use the longer delay time setting when the rear speakers are closer to the
listener than the front speakers.
Tuning to radio stations
Total 40 FM stations can be stored only.
1Press TUNER on remote control or SOURCE on unit to select FM or MW.
2Press TUNING+/- to select a desired radio stations in up/down sequence.
3Press and hold TUNING+/- on remote control until the frequency indication starts
to change, then release. The tuning scan will stop when a station is found.
4 Repeat Step 2 to select another stations.

If you experience any of the following difficulties while using the system, use this troubleshooting guide to help you remedy the problem. Should any problem persist,
consult your nearest service center.

No power
•Is the power cord firmly plugged into the power outlet?
•One of the safety mechanisms may be operating. In this event, unplug the
player from the power outlet briefly and then plug it in again.
There is no sound or only a very low-level sound is heard.
•Check that the speakers and components are connected securely.
•Make sure that you have selected the correct source on the system.
•The protective device on the system has been activated because of a short
circuit. Turn off the system, eliminate the short-circuit problem and turn on the
power again.
•The audio connecting cord is damaged. Replace it with a new one.
•Check the speaker settings.
The left and right sounds are unbalanced or reversed
•Check that the speakers and components are connected correctly and se-
curely.
•Adjust front balance parameter using FL+/-, CENTRE+/-, FR+/-, SL+/-, SR+/-,
SUB+/-and VOLUME+/-.
Severe hum or noise is heard
•Check that the speakers and components are connected securely.
•Check that the connecting cords are away from a transformer or motor, and at
least 3 meters away from a video component or fluorescent light.
•Move your video away from the audio components.
•The plugs and sockets are dirty. Wipe them with a cloth slightly moistened with
alcohol.
The surround effect is difficult to hear when you are playing a Dolby
Digital sound track
•Check the speaker connections.
•Depending on the DVD disc, the output signal may not be the entire 5.1 channel
but monaural or stereo even if the sound track is recorded in Dolby Digital format.
The sound comes from the centre speaker only
•Depending on the disc, the sound may come from the centre speaker only.
No sound is heard from the centre speaker
•Ensure that the Centre speaker cables polarity are correct.
•You may set the listening mode to Dolby Pro Logic Phantom .
•Adjust the speaker volume.
No sound or only a very low-level sound is heard from the rear speakers
•Make sure the speaker cales polarity are correctly connected.
•Adjust the speaker volume.
The system does not operate properly
•Static electricity, etc., may affect the system’s operation. Press the STANDBY-

Presetting radio staions
1Tune to your desired radio staions (refer to Page 12 “Tuning to radio stations”)
2Press PROG on remote control, the VFDwill show “ P00 ”
3Use the number keys(0~9) to select a desired radio preset number.
4 Press PROG to store the station.
5 Repeat step 1~4 to preset another radio stations.
Listening to preset radio stations
1In tuner mode, press PRESET + / - or number keys (0 ~ 9) to select the desired
preset stations.
If an FM program is noisy
Press (STEREO/MONO) on the remote control “STEREO” will show on VFD.
There is not stereo effect, but the reception will improve.
Listening to an external source
1Press COAX, TUNER, AUX, TV/VCR, DVD repeatedly to select the
COAX, FM, MW, AUX, TV/VCR, DVD.
