Welcome to GASPO!
We are pleased that you have chosen this short ski binding. With
your choice, you have acquired a technically advanced product.
Please note this ski binding can only be used on skis shorter
than 130 cm! GASPO wishes you much enjoyment from your new
sports equipment.
Important information!
Attention: Skiing is an inherently risky recreational activity that
can lead to physical injuries. These bindings are part of the
functional unit of skis/bindings/ski boots and they do not release in
every circumstance. It is impossible to predict every situation in
which the ski bindings release or do not release and whether a
skier has escaped injury while skiing. Although these ski bindings
reduce the risk of injury to the leg below the knee joint, this type of
injury cannot be ruled out entirely; they do not reduce the impact of
other physical injuries, especially knee injuries.
A qualified technician must install, adjust and maintain the
ski bindings according to the manufacturer's instructions.
Improper installation, adjustment or maintenance can
increase the risk of injury. For your own safety, you should
always have a technician check your system (skis, boots,
bindings) at least once before the start of the season.
The following instructions are for the release function of your
ski bindings and are therefore important for avoiding the
potential risk of injury:
1. Getting in and out of binding (also after falling):
Insert your ski boot into the rear clip and then snap it in with the toe
clip (S). Put on and tighten the safety strap (T). (Fig. 1)
Clean any sticky snow from the binding and boot bottom as
necessary.
1.1. Release and reentry:
After the binding releases (e.g., after a fall), the sole plate (O)
remains on the ski boot.
Remove the sole plate (O) from the ski boot, clean the boot and
binding parts of any snow and firmly insert the sole plate (O) into
the base plate (G), insert the boot and snap it in with the toe clip
(S).
Attention:
Under no circumstance should you walk around with the sole plate
(O) on the boot sole! This will result in great wear on the release
parts and can highly damage the release function.
2. Checking
A technician must check the proper adjustment of the release settings
with an electronic binding adjustment device. Please note that the
release level of the binding increases over the service life! Before each
ski, the safety strap (T) must be put on and tightened; you must also
check to see whether the binding sole plate (O) is affixed to the base plate
(G).
Caution: Ski boots made from soft thermoplastic material can sharply
reduce the binding function. GC-701S ski bindings may only be used with
ski boots corresponding to standardized norms (DIN/ISO 5355).
The function of your ski binding could be affected if you use ski boots that
are worn or have not been properly adjusted to the ski binding. Please
only have a technician make the necessary adjustments and do not
make any changes to the settings yourself!
3. Maintenance:
You should have regular maintenance done by a technician for every 15-
20 days of use.
If readjustment is necessary, bring your equipment (including both ski
boots) to a technician (e.g., ski dealer, ski service shop, etc.).
4. Other information:
When transporting your skis on the roof of a motor vehicle, the bindings
are exposed to road salt and other harmful influences. You should use a
binding cover or ski bag to protect your bindings.
After skiing, your skis must be stored in a temperature controlled room so
that ice does not build up on the binding afterwards (remove from ski
bag!).
Ski boots should never remain in the binding when they are being stored.
Your ski binding corresponds to the specifications following the DIN/ISO
norm 9462.
5. Warranty:
Through its national distributors, GASPO guarantees to the original
buyer or user that the ski binding is free of defect related to the material
and processing. This warranty, along with any claims stemming from it,
lasts for a period of two years from first purchase. Other periods and
conditions may apply in the USAand Canada.
To obtain warranty service, the product must be brought to the original or
another authorized GASPO dealer at your own cost. These instructions
for use, proof of purchase and proof of periodic service must be returned
in order to make a warranty claim.
6. Exclusion of liability:
As long as GASPO is not obligated to compensation by mandatory
law, GASPO does not accept any liability for damage or
consequential damage from using the ski binding, regardless of
whether such a claim is based on the sales agreement, on an official
warranty claim or on negligence, or whether such a claim concerns
material damage – with the exception of the ski binding itself –
concerning malfunction in relation to using the ski binding or
concerning loss of property or other lost earnings.
Please safely store these installation and operating instructions for
later inspection and for warranty purposes.
Thank you for your valued cooperation. Please contact us if you have any
questions or if anything is unclear:

1. Installation:
1.1. Installation for skis without a ski boot center mark:
Divide the length of the ski by two to get the measurement for the
toe of the boot from the end of the ski. Put the boot with the front of
the toe on the center of the ski and draw a line where the center of
the boot is on the ski (=indicator on boot). Then follow the
instructions of 1.2.
1.2. Installation for skis with a ski boot center mark:
Lay the base plate (G) (Fig. 1) on the ski so that the binding
indicator for the middle of the boot (D) matches up with the ski boot
center mark on the ski. Lightly punch the holes centered on the
middle of the ski.
1.3. Drilling the necessary holes:
Drill through the punched holes with a 3.5 mm drill bit, 9 mm deep
into the ski and screw on the base plate (G) with the attached
screws. (Fig. 1)
2. Insert the sole plate into the base plate
Insert the sole plate (O) (Fig. 1) into the base plate (G) in front of the
toe clip (S) and strongly press down at the back (eyelet for safety
strap). The sole plate should now sit firmly in the base plate.
3. Adjusting the ski boots:
The center marks on the sole of the ski boot should match up with
the boot center indicator (D) of the binding (Fig. 1.3).
To optimally adjust the boot, use a Phillips screwdriver to turn the
screw (V) (Fig. 4) for the front clip or the screw (H) (Fig. 5) for the
rear clip. The toe clip (S) should sit firmly on the toe of the boot.
Make sure the tension is not too high.
3.1. Getting in and out of bindings (also after falling):
Insert your ski boot into the rear clip and then snap it in with the toe clip
(S). Put on and tighten the safety strap (T). (Fig. 1)
Clean any sticky snow from the binding and boot bottom as necessary.
Caution: Ski boots made from soft thermoplastic material can sharply
reduce the binding function. GC-701S ski bindings may only be used with
ski boots corresponding to standardized norms (DIN/ISO 5355).
The function of your ski binding could be affected if you use ski boots that
are worn or have not been adjusted to the ski binding. Please only have a
technician make the necessary adjustments.
3.2 Release and reentry:
After the binding releases (e.g., after a fall), the sole plate (O) remains on
the ski boot.
Remove the sole plate (O) from the ski boot, clean the boot and binding
parts of any snow and firmly insert the sole plate (O) into the base plate
(G), insert the boot and snap it in with the toe clip (S).
4. Adjusting the release settings:
Only use the release settings GASPO recommends in order to achieve
the proper DIN setting for the skier. Any other change or interpretation
could be hazardous.
Adjustment is done using the adjustment screw (A) (Fig. 2) for the front
release settings and adjustment screw (B) for the rear release settings.
The adjustments can be seen on the Z scale (Z) (Fig. 2).

We recommend that the release settings be checked by an
electronic binding device.
The release settings must be determined by a technician in order
to be able to make the proper adjustments according to ISO/DIN
11088.
4.1. Categorizing the skier
This categorization must be determined in a discussion between
the skier and the technician in order to find the different parameters
that influence the setting of the binding. These parameters are as
follows:
4.1. Adjusting the settings:
st
Determine the code of the skier according to Table 1. In the 1
nd
column find out the weight of the skier and in the 2 column the
height. If these are not found on the same row, use the code from
the next row up.
This code corresponds to a type 1 skier.
- Go down one row for a type 2 skier.
- Go down two rows for a type 3 skier.
Go up one row for skiers 50 years of age and older or younger than
10 years.
After considering the type and age of the skier, the adjustment can
be decreased or increased in the following cases:
A) Skiers who have satisfactory experience with lower settings in
relation to the manufacturer's recommendation can request
settings based on their experience.
B) Skiers who have experience without early releasing can
request the settings to be adjusted up to 15% lower than the
manufacturer's recommendation or up one row in Table 1.
C) Skiers who have specific qualities, e.g., neutral ski stance,
defensive behavior, a high sense of responsibility, etc., can
request the settings to be adjusted up to 15% lower than the
manufacturer's recommendation or up one row in Table 1.
D) Skiers who have experience with early releasing can request
the settings to be adjusted up to 15% higher than the
manufacturer's recommendation or down one row in Table 1.
Skiers can request different adjustments for turning or falling
forward.
After you have determined the code for the skier, you can read the
adjustment settings in Table 1. For these ski bindings, the ski boot
sole length is 305 mm in general.
Adjust the front and back release settings according to Point 4.
4.2. How to troubleshoot in case of uneven release:
It is possible for the binding to release unevenly. If the release
settings are too far to the right or left and are outside the tolerance
values, this can be attributed to an adjustment error or dirt on the
release mechanism. For proper adjustment, the binding must
spring back with a light tap of the hand (function check!).

Settings for type 3 should not be used for skiers weighing less than 22 kg.
5. Checking:
The proper adjustment of the release settings must always be checked by
a technician with an electronic binding adjustment device. The technician
must heed the following points:
Figs. 3 and 4:
* Adjustment point indicator (C) of the binding for side release.
Fig. 5:
* Pivot point zero indicator (E) of the binding for rear release.
Machine zero indicator and binding zero indicator must agree.
