AIR-ASSISTED AIRLESS ELECTROSTATIC
Gun Washer Kit
Part No. 236659
For use with Graco Gun Washer to clean the PRO
AA4500 Electrostatic Spray Gun. The kit enables you
to clean exterior gun surfaces and internal fluid pas-
sages without getting solvent into the air passages or
turbine.
WARNING
Observe all warnings. Read and understand all
instruction manuals before operating equipment.
To reduce the risk of serious injury, including
splashing fluid or solvent in the eyes or on the
skin, shut off the air to the pump, relieve all sys-
tem pressure, and drain the solvent from the
gun washer tank before installing the kit.
Install Gun Support, Trigger Lock, and
Fluid Inlet Adapter
1. Relieve the gun washer system pressure.
2. Remove a gun support (A) or spray nozzle (B)
from one of the four cleaning stations. See Fig. 1.
NOTE: To ease removal of the spray nozzle, re-
move the metal platform from the gun washer
tank.
3. Remove the spray nozzle that is next to the station
where you will install the PRO AA4500 gun sup-
port (4) and install the plug (6). See Fig. 2.
4. With the metal platform (C) in place, screw the
PRO AA4500 gun support (4), supplied with the
kit, into the 1/8” npt hole. Orient the support so it
faces the center of the gun washer.
5. If the gun support (4) replaced a spray nozzle (B–
See Fig. 1), install the trigger lock (7) and fluid inlet
adapter (5) to use with the fourth gun station. See
Fig. 2. Place the wire loops on the snap ring (8)
and snap it around an open spray nozzle.

Install Air Cap Blank and Tip Housing
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious injury, including
fluid injection, splashing in the eyes or on the
skin or electrostatic shock, always follow the
Pressure Relief Procedure in gun manual
308294 before removing the gun for cleaning.
1. Relieve the gun pressure, then remove the gun
from the air and fluid supply lines.
2. Pointing the gun down, unscrew and remove the
retaining nut (E), tip guard (F), air cap (G) and
spray tip (H). See Fig. 3. Set aside the air cap and
spray tip to clean separately.

3. Using the parts from the kit, press the two washers
(3) into the tip housing (2) and press the tip hous-
ing into the air cap blank (1). See Fig. 4.
4. Install the kit parts on the gun and the tip guard
(F). Tighten the retaining nut (E) until the air cap
blank (1) is snug.

5. Screw the fluid inlet adapter (5) onto the gun fluid
inlet and install the adapter on the gun support (4).
See Fig. 5.
6. To lock the gun trigger in the open position, install
the wire trigger lock (7) around the gun handle and
trigger.

WARNING
To reduce the risk of electrostatic shock, fire, or
explosion; which could result in serious injury
and property damage, be sure to follow these
precautions.
DMake sure the ES ON-OFF valve lever (elec-
trostatics) is OFF before cleaning the gun.
DNever allow solvent to enter the air passage
of any electrostatic gun.
DNever place the gun air inlet over a gun
support.
DOnly use the fluid inlet adapter provided with
the gun washer.
DFollow the spray gun manufacturer’s cleaning
recommendations and the solvent material
safety data sheets when selecting a solvent.
DAlways use solvent with the highest possible
flashpoint.
DUse only non-conductive solvent when clean-
ing electrostatic guns.
7. Operate the gun washer as instructed in the gun
washer manual. Clean the gun air cap, tip guard,
and tip as instructed in the gun manual.
8. Remove the gun from the gun washer and blow or
wipe any solvent remaining on the gun exterior.
Re-assemble the Gun
9. Remove the air cap blank (1), tip housing (2) and
washers (3) from the gun. See Fig. 4.
10. Install the gun spray tip (H) and air cap (G), tip
guard (F), and retaining nut (E). Tighten the retain-
ing nut firmly. See Fig. 3.
11. Place the gun in its hanging bracket, with the
nozzle pointing down as shown in Fig. 6, until it is
used again.

CAUTION
Always hang the gun with its nozzle pointing down to
avoid having solvent run into the gun air passages.
Solvent in the gun air passages can cause poor at-
omization and excessive current demands and can
damage the gun.

Graco Standard Warranty
Graco warrants all equipment manufactured by Graco and bearing its name to be free from defects in material and workmanship on the
date of sale by an authorized Graco distributor to the original purchaser for use. With the exception of any special, extended, or limited
warranty published by Graco, Graco will, for a period of twelve months from the date of sale, repair or replace any part of the equipment
determined by Graco to be defective. This warranty applies only when the equipment is installed, operated and maintained in accor-
dance with Graco’s written recommendations.
This warranty does not cover, and Graco shall not be liable for general wear and tear, or any malfunction, damage or wear caused by
faulty installation, misapplication, abrasion, corrosion, inadequate or improper maintenance, negligence, accident, tampering, or sub-
stitution of non–Graco component parts. Nor shall Graco be liable for malfunction, damage or wear caused by the incompatibility of
Graco equipment with structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco, or the improper design, manufacture,
installation, operation or maintenance of structures, accessories, equipment or materials not supplied by Graco.
This warranty is conditioned upon the prepaid return of the equipment claimed to be defective to an authorized Graco distributor for
verification of the claimed defect. If the claimed defect is verified, Graco will repair or replace free of charge any defective parts. The
equipment will be returned to the original purchaser transportation prepaid. If inspection of the equipment does not disclose any defect
in material or workmanship, repairs will be made at a reasonable charge, which charges may include the costs of parts, labor, and
transportation.
THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE, AND IS IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT
NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Graco’s sole obligation and buyer’s sole remedy for any breach of warranty shall be as set forth above. The buyer agrees that no other
remedy (including, but not limited to, incidental or consequential damages for lost profits, lost sales, injury to person or property, or any
other incidental or consequential loss) shall be available. Any action for breach of warranty must be brought within two (2) years of the
date of sale.
Graco makes no warranty, and disclaims all implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose in connection
with accessories, equipment, materials or components sold but not manufactured by Graco. These items sold, but not manufactured
by Graco (such as electric motors, switches, hose, etc.), are subject to the warranty, if any, of their manufacturer. Graco will provide
purchaser with reasonable assistance in making any claim for breach of these warranties.
In no event will Graco be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages resulting from Graco supplying equipment
hereunder, or the furnishing, performance, or use of any products or other goods sold hereto, whether due to a breach of contract,
breach of warranty, the negligence of Graco, or otherwise.
