5” Lithium-Ion Random
Orbital cuts the cord and allows you to take your waxing on the road… even if it’s just down the
driveway. Designed for paint perfecting, your 5” Lithium-Ion Random Orbital will produce a
swirl-free finish when teamed with any of our polishes, all-in-ones, waxes, or sealants.

: The 5” Lithium-Ion Random Orbital is intended for use as a paint polisher for
automotive, marine, and RV vehicles, as well as household surfaces like glass, porcelain, and suitable
composite surfaces. Use in any other application has not been evaluated by Griot’s Garage and may
lead to an unsafe condition. This machine is NOT intended for sanding or grinding purposes.

features & InstructIons
Power swItch
The power switch is located on the palm grip of the orbital on the opposite side of the battery pack.
This single-pole switch requires the user to depress switch on the right side to turn the unit on or off.
InstallIng & reMovIng BatterY Pack
To remove the battery pack, push the Battery Release Buttons on both sides of the battery pack and
pull the battery pack from the tool in an outward direction. To insert the battery pack, align the tool
unit slides with the battery pack sliding groove and push the battery pack into place. Do not force the
battery pack into the tool. If the battery pack does not slide in easily, it is not being inserted correctly.
chargIng the BatterY Pack
Your new battery pack is not charged. You need to charge it before use. Plug the fast charger into a
110-volt power source. Slide the battery pack into the charger according to the arrow direction shown
on the charger. Push the battery pack into place and make sure the red light on the charger is “ON.”
When the light turns a solid green, the battery is fully charged. Only use authorized Griot’s Garage
Lithium-Ion Battery (Item #10413 - Extra Lithium-Ion Battery). Use with any other battery may lead to
property damage or personal injury.

: Avoid short circuiting the contacts. Avoid mechanical damage of the battery pack. Do
not open or disassemble. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces, and sources of ignition. Never
burn or incinerate battery pack even if it’s damaged, dead, or completely discharged.

Do not discard electric power tools or batteries into household waste receptacles!
Separate collection of used products and packaging allows materials to be recycled. Use of recycled
materials helps prevent environmental pollution and reduces the demand for raw materials.
In accordance with the European Directive 2002/96/EG on Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment and transposition into national law, used electric power tools must be collected separately
and recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
BackIng Plate InstallatIon
(See illustration on back page)
Prior to installation, remove battery pack from tool. Use included flange wrench to hold the
hexagonal nut. Align the polisher backing pad bolt thread with the thread hole on the eccentric
wheel assembly. Use flange wrench to hold the hexagonal nut and stabilize the eccentric wheel
assembly counterweight disc, spin the polisher backing pad in clockwise direction until tightened.

Inspect polish and/or wax pad before installing.

DO NOT use torn or worn-out pads.
•
Remove your battery pack.
•
Center pad on backing plate and press firmly around pad.

safetY & PrecautIons
achIeve suPerIor results
Begin by thoroughly spreading selected product on pad face. Position the buffing pad on the paint
surface, then start your orbital by toggling the on/off switch. Apply light to moderate pressure and
work surface in a 2’ x 2’ crisscross pattern. Prior to removing pad from surface, turn machine off by
toggling on/off switch. Reapply product as necessary to ensure smooth, even application.
Clean your pads after working each panel using a Griot’s Garage Foam Pad Conditioning Brush
(Item # 15548). Apply bristles to pad face using moderate pressure. Begin by turning the machine on,
working the pad face back and forth allowing the pad to spin against the brush for 10 seconds. Turn
tool off prior to releasing brush.

1. Know Your Power Tool.
Read this owner's manual carefully. Learn the
applications and limitations as well as the specific
potential hazards related to this tool.
2. Avoid Dangerous Environments.
Don't use power tools or charger in damp/wet
locations or expose to rain. Keep work area well lit.
3. Store Idle Tools.
When not in use, tools should be stored in a cool,
dry place.
4. Dress Properly.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be
caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-
skid footwear are recommended when working
outdoors. Also wear protective hair covering to
contain long hair.
5 . Warning: Always Wear Safety Glasses.
Everyday glasses are NOT safety glasses. Use ANSI
Certified Z87.1 Eye Protection.
6. Protect Your Lungs.
Wear a NIOSH/.OSHA certified dust mask if
operation is dusty.
7. Warning: Protect Your Hearing.
Always Wear Certified Hearing Protection that
conforms to ANSI S12.6 (S3.19) during use. Under
some conditions and duration of use, noise from
this product may contribute to hearing loss.
8. Don't Overreach.
Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
Do not use tool on a ladder or unstable support.
Secure tools when working at elevated levels.
9. Remove Adjusting Keys And Wrenches.
Make a habit of checking to see that keys and
adjusting wrenches are removed from tool before
turning it on.
10. Keep Handles Dry, Clean, And Free From
Oil And Grease.
Always use a clean cloth when cleaning. Never use
brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum based products or
any strong solvents to clean your tool.
11. Check For Damaged Parts.
Before further use of the tool, a guard or any other
part that is damaged should be carefully checked
to determine that it will operate properly and
perform its intended function. Check for alignment
of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage
of parts, mounting and any other conditions that
may affect its operation. Any part that is damaged
should be properly repaired or replaced.
12. Be Clear Headed.
Do not operate this (or any) tool while under the
influence of drugs, alcohol, or any medication.
13. Maintenance Safety.
Your orbital should never be connected to power
supply when you are assembling parts, making
adjustments, replacing pads, cleaning the unit, or
when not in use.
