Place the module on a firm surface, far from
flood-prone areas. It is recommended that the
module be mounted on a wall in order to easily
handle the sensor wires.
Once the module has been mounted, connect one
end of the USB cable (10) to the 110~230VAC/5VDC
transformer and the other end (10) to the module’s
type-B USB outlet (6).
Connect the transformer (11) to a 110~230VAC/5VDC
power outlet.

Connect the flood detector (14), the soil
temperature sensor (12) and the soil moisture
sensors (13) respecvely, to the module
outlets (1, 2, 3).
Introduce the temperature sensor two
cenmeters deep in the soil and spike the
moisture sensors in the soil, leaving the p two
cenmeters above the soil surface.
To avoid incorrect calculaons, place the
moisture sensor far from the irrigaon source.
Lastly, place the flood detector in the soil near
the pots, avoiding its exposure to the excess
water drained from irrigaon.

The moisture sensors for substrate and flood
detectors have resisve technology and are
vulnerable to corrosion caused by electroly-
sis.
Within the measure possible, maintain the
flood detectors dry. Do not forget to dry
them again once they have been exposed to
water.
Both moisture sensors and flood detectors
are replaceable. If your sensors have been
greatly affected by corrosion, you can acqui-
re from the website www.opengrow.pt new
substuon sensors.
Posion the soil moisture sensors in different
areas or pots. Use the sensors to monitor
and control different crops.

Connecon to GroNode
Make sure the GroNode is correctly installed
and accessible through the GroLab Soware, if
not follow the instrucons provided inside the
GroNode’s manual.
Aer installing the SoilBot, open the GroLab
Soware, establish a connecon with GroNo-
de and then, access Modules through the
main menu.
Usually, 2 or 3 minutes are enough for GroNo-
de to detect a newly installed module, aer
being detected it automacally appears in the
Modules menu under the respecve module
type secon.
You can check the list of modules of the same
type on the right side of this menu. Note that
one GroNode supports a maximum of 4 modu-
les of each type.

Problems or losses in
communicaon
GroNode was designed to communicate with
the other modules through radio frequency
signals. The range of acon is 25 meters (82
feet) indoors and 100 meters (328 feet)
outdoors depending on space condions.
Access the Modules menu on the GroLab
Soware and check if your modules are availa-
ble. If they aren’t available or they are
experiencing communicaon losses, it is
possible that you have exceeded the distance
between your modules and GroNode.
Inside the Modules menu, you can find a
wireless signal icon that indicates if the
selected module is connected to the GroNode.
NOTICE: Some load-bearing walls and electronic devices
may interfere with the signal.

If the problem persists, perform a test run by
placing the module next to the GroNode and
check the module’s communicaon status
through the soware. If communicaon has
been successfully re-established, repeat this
operaon at different distances unl you detect
the maximum communicaon distance.
If the module is not found at all, try to cycle the
GroNode through all the available communica-
on channels unl you find your modules,
allowing 3 minutes between channel changes.
To change the communicaon channel, open
the GroLab Soware and connect to the GroNo-
de. Inside the Main Menu (Configuraons), go
to Sengs (GroNode) → General Sengs Tab.
Click the buon in the lower right corner to
enable eding and change the communicaon
channel to the desired channel. To apply the
changes, click the green buon in the lower
right corner.
If aer following the previous steps your modu-
les sll don’t show up on the GroLab Soware,
please contact our technical support.
