77159 Vibratory Tumbler Polisher
Vibratory tumblers are designed to clean and polish small metal objects and
other items with a rapid vibrating action. Small parts can be thoroughly cleaned
and polished with the gentle cleaning action of the tumbler. Ideal for de-rusting,
cleaning or de-burring metal parts. Nuts, bolts, machine parts, sockets, small tools,
any metal parts up to 7" (178mm) long are suitable for the tumbling process.
The heavy duty, sturdy polyethylene vibratory bowl (with lid), sits on a plastic
motor housing. The bowl rests on plastic mounted feet for added stability when
operating. The tumbler bowl opening is 7.5" (192mm) in diameter allowing the easy
addition or removal of items. The bowl holds a maximum of 5lbs (2.27 kilograms) of
parts and media (sold separately). Two different types of media are available in 1kg
bags.

Choose a suitable work area:
1. Choose a clean and well-lit area to mount the tumbler.
2. Choose a hard, flat surface that will withstand the vibration from the tumbler.
3. Do not place on a rubber or foam mat, as the tumbler motor draws air from
underneath the tumbler to cool the motor. A rubber or foam mat may obstruct
the air vents.
4. Route the power cord along a safe route to reach the work area enabling
plenty of extra length to allow free movement of the tumbler when working.
Choose a media:
Two different types of media are available: Brown Resin Media, Medium Grade
(Part No. 77160, 1kg bag) and Ceramic Media, Medium Grade (Part No. 77161,
1kg bag).
To remove rust and corrosion: use the Brown Resin Media, tumble for 2–6
hours (or maybe more, depending on amount of rust/corrosion of parts to be
cleaned).
To polish (dry shining): use the Ceramic Media, tumble for 4-8 hours.
Note: Any media that is run wet is not suitable for this tumbler.
5
Operating Instructions:
The tumbler can be used for:
• Removing rust or other surface imperfections from hardware.
• Removing burrs from freshly machined or stamped hardware or other small
parts.
• Polishing metal hardware and small parts.
Note: Make sure the bowl and cover are dry before use.
Refer to components diagram above:
• Make sure that the parts you want to tumble are clean and free of any grease.
• Fill the tumbler bowl (A) about two-thirds full with the chosen media. Add
metal parts up to a maximum weight of 5lbs (2.27kg) including the media. Do
not overfill.
• Place the cover (D) over the threaded shaft (E) and secure with the washers (G)
and wing nut (F). Tighten firmly.
• Connect the power cord to a suitable 230/240V 50Hz socket.
• Press the button on the power switch (C) to switch the tumbler ON.
• When the tumbling process is complete, press the power switch (C) to switch
the tumbler OFF, before opening the tumbler.
• If you think the parts could be cleaned further, then switch the tumbler on
again. For cleaning and rust removal, using the Brown Resin Media, tumble for
2–6 hours (or maybe more, depending on amount of rust / corrosion of parts to
be cleaned).
• When polishing, using the Ceramic Media, remember that tumbling for a longer
period of time will increase the level of shine.
• Always make sure that the parts are not too big for the bowl, as they can
damage it over time.
Note: Maximum capacity is 5lbs (2.27kg) including the media. Overfilling will cause
the tumbling process to slow down. If the tumbler is running too slowly, switch it
off, remove some of the metal items, then restart.
• When finished, turn off the tumbler and disconnect the power supply. Clean
the tumbler, then store in a clean, dry environment.

Precautions:
• Read these instructions and fully understand them before attempting to use the
tool.
• Before each use, inspect the general condition of the tool; check for loose
items, misalignment or binding or moving parts. Check for any condition that
may affect its safe operation.
• Do not operate the tumbler with the cover off, as hazardous dust may be
generated, and the media may be ejected from the tumbler.
• Do not place any items on the cover while the tumbler is switched on.
• Caution: too little media in the tumbler bowl could damage the parts being
tumbled.
• Only use media recommended for vibratory machines; media suitable for
standard rotating tumblers is not suitable for vibratory machines.
• Always make sure that the parts are not too big for the bowl, as they can
damage it over time.
• When the tumbler is switched on, never cover up the machine to dampen the
noise as this could cause overheating, creating a fire risk.
• If the tumbler has been running for a number of hours, do not remove the cover
immediately after switching off. Allow any dust to settle by waiting for at least 30
minutes.
• Media can be re-used; if deburring use a magnet to remove any small steel
parts from the media before storing the media in a clean, dry container.
• Do not use the equipment for a purpose for which it was not designed.
