Safety Warnings and Precautions
WARNING: When using product, basic safety precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment.
Read all instructions before using this product!
1. Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2. Observe work area conditions. Do not use this product in damp or wet locations. Don’t
expose to rain. Keep work area well lighted. Do not use electrically powered tools in the
presence of flammable gases or liquids.
3. Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not let them
handle machines, tools, or extension cords.
4. Store idle equipment. When not in use, products must be stored in a dry location to inhibit
rust. Always lock up products and keep out of reach of children.
5. Do not force product. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was
intended. Do not use inappropriate attachments in an attempt to exceed the product capacity.
6. Use the right product for the job. Do not attempt to force a small product or attachment to
do the work of a larger industrial product. There are certain applications for which this product
was designed. Do not modify this product and do not use this product for a purpose for which it
was not intended.

7. Maintain products with care. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
Inspect cords periodically and, if damaged, have them repaired by an authorized technician.
8. Disconnect power. Unplug product when not in use.
9. Check for damaged parts. Before using any product, any part that appears damaged should
be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function.
Any part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician. Do
not use the tool if any switch does not turn On and Off properly.
10. Guard against electric shock. Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes,
radiators, ranges, and refrigerator enclosures. Only use the vacuum in dry conditions.
11. Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories intended for use with this
tool. Approved accessories are available from Harbor Freight Tools.
12. Do not operate tool if under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Read warning labels on
prescriptions to determine if your judgment or reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there
is any doubt, do not operate the tool.
13. Use proper size and type extension cord. If an extension cord is required, it must be of the
proper size and type to supply the correct current to the tool without heating up. Otherwise, the
extension cord could melt and catch fire, or cause electrical damage to the tool. This tool
requires use of an extension cord of 0 to 10 amps capability (up to 50 feet), with wire size rated
at 18 AWG. Longer extension cords require larger size wire. If you are using the tool outdoors,
use an extension cord rated for outdoor use. (signified by “WA” on the jacket).
14. Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed regularly by a
qualified technician.
15. Keep all vents clear. Blocking of the vents will cause the product to overheat and malfunction,
resulting in damage and possible injury.
Note: Performance of this tool (if powered by line voltage) may vary depending on variations in
local line voltage. Extension cord usage may also affect tool performance.

Assembly
Your Compact Hand-held Vacuum will require some assembly prior to use. It is important that you
read the entire manual to become familiar with the product BEFORE you use the Vacuum. Before
assembling the Vacuum be sure that you have all parts described in the Parts List and Assembly
Diagram located on the last pages of this manual.
Dust Cup Filter - Inserting, Removing and Cleaning
Step 1) Turn “OFF” the power on the Vacuum and unplug it from the power source. Place
one hand on the Body and one hand on the Front Cover (#2). Push down
on the Front Cover Release Button (#3) located on the Body. Pull off the
Front Cover (#2)-see Figure 1 on page 4.

Warning: People with pacemakers should consult with their physician(s) before using this product;
operation of equipment in close proximity to a heart pacemaker could cause interference or failure of
the pacemaker.

Step 2) With Front Cover (#2) off, remove the Filter (#4) from the Front Cover (#2)-see
Figure 1.
Step 3) Remove all dust and debris from the Filter (#4). Replace the Filter (#4) inside the
Front Cover (#2). Click the Front Cover (#2) back into place so that it sits tight
against the Body.
Attaching Accessories
The Compact Hand-held Vacuum comes with one Hose (#20), one Oval Brush (#9), one Square
Brush (#8), and a Carrying Strap (#19).
To attach either the Hose (#20), Oval Brush (#9) or Square Brush (#8), follow these steps:
Step 1) Locate the Suction Opening on the Hand-held Vacuum.

Step 2) Insert the end of the Hose, Oval Brush or Square Brush into the Suction
Opening-see Figure 2.
Attaching the Carrying Belt
Step 1) The Carrying Strap (#19) has a ring at each end. Attach one ring through the eyelet
located at the top/ front of the Handle. Attach the ring at the other end of the Belt to
the eyelet located at the rear of the Body-see Figure 2.
Operation
It is important that you read the entire manual to become familiar with the product BEFORE you use
the Compact Hand-held Vacuum. Before operating the Vacuum, be sure that you have all the parts
described in the Parts List and Assembly Manual located on the last pages of this manual.

Step 1) Choose the attachment desired for your vacuuming needs. Follow the Assembly
instructions above to attach the attachment.
Step 2) Plug in the Compact Hand-held Vacuum into a 110V electrical outlet. Turn the
Vacuum “ON” by pressing the Power Switch (#5) to the “l “ mark. To turn “OFF” the
Vacuum, press the Power Switch (#5) to the “O” setting.
Note: If the Vacuum has loss of suction, make certain to remove and clean the Filter (#4)
as indicated under Dust Cup Filter section on pages 3 and 4.

UNPACK AND CHECK CONTENTS
When unpacking your Compact Hand-held Vacuum, check to make sure the following parts are
included. If any parts are missing or broken, please call HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS at
