Network Display
OPERATION
The H8932/H8936 Network Display provides local indication of power system
parameters from Veris devices. To report critical alarm data the H8932/H8936
is equipped with a digital alarm input and local alarm annunciation.
All system variables and alarms can be passed to the network operations
center by means of Modbus RTU protocol. In the event that the network
operations center is not yet established, the data can be uploaded to a Palm
Pilot through the IR communications port located on the front of the display.

• This product is not intended for life or safety applications.
This product is not intended for installation in hazardous or classied
locations.
• Potential electrocution hazard exists. Installing sensors in an
energized motor control center or on any energized conductor can be
hazardous.
• Read instructions thoroughly prior to install
Severe injury or death can result from electrical shock during contact with
high voltage conductors or related equipment. Disconnect and lock-out
all power sources during installation and service. Applications shown are
suggested means of installing sensors, but it is the responsibility of the
installer to ensure that the installation is in compliance with all national
and local codes. Installation should be attempted only by individuals
familiar with codes, standards, and proper safety procedures for high-
voltage installations.

Wiring the H8932/H8936 Network(s)
Communications Wiring
The H8932/H8936 resides on a Modbus network as a pass-through device. Unlike most Modbus RTU devices it is not wired in a daisy chain conguration. Instead
make an upstream and downstream communication connection. This allows for exible data retrieval as the upstream options include RS232, RS485, or Palm
Handheld compatible IR.
Network Map Option #1
NETWORK CONFIGURATION
Network Map Option #2
Infrared communications will not
function with upstream connection
enabled. When infrared commu-
nications are desired, do not enable
upstream RS232 or RS485 port.
NOTE: Connecting multiple network displays in series on the downstream network is not recommended.
*Other modbus devices must respond to the "Report Slave ID" command (11h) to allow pass-through communications from the upstream network.
