V. Installation Instructions
5.2 Locating Unit
For optimal performance, the HealthyAir® Ceiling-Mount Aerosol Extractor
should be located such that the Hood of the Extraction Arm can be strategically
positioned about 6”-12” from the emission source.
The unit base should also be installed where it can be easily accessed and
opened for periodic filter replacement. Refer to Section 9.2 for filter
replacement details.
5.2.1 The base unit is designed to be installed in place of a standard 2'x2’
ceiling tile, and it must be securely attached to the building structure for
adequate support.
5.2.2 Depending on the type of building structure, and whether the ceiling has
I-Beam or concrete construction, follow the appropriate protocol for
proper installation and support of the unit.
5.3 Locating Extraction Arm
The Articulating Extraction Arm is specifically designed to work with the
HealthyAirâ Ceiling-Mount Source Captureâ unit model HA-CMSC-G2.
Together, this system will enable effective capture and filtration of ultra-fine
airborne aerosols generated in various procedures.
The Articulating Extraction Arm is to be installed to the main structure in the
ceiling (above the drop ceilings) on either side of the chair or work area. The
exact and optimal location of the arm depends on the specific layout of the site
and the presence of other equipment.
In general, the Articulating Extraction Arm should be located within a radius of
36” from the area where work is performed. The arm is equipped with (3)
adjustable joints and a 360° swivel ring, that enable it to be maneuvered to
position the capture hood within 6” of the breathing zone.
The Ceiling-Mount Source Captureâ unit is to be located 4-6’ from the
Articulating Extraction Arm and connected to the arm via a Flex Hose.

5.6 Install Inlet Tube
The Faceplate of the CMSC unit has two (2) 4” Ø Inlet Ports. One of the Inlets
Ports is to be sealed with the Inlet Port Cover Plate, while the other is
uncovered.
Note that, either Inlet Port can be used depending on the preferred
arrangement. In some cases, both Inlet Tubes may be utilized for connection to
one Extraction Arm in order to boost the inlet airflow at the Hood.
5.6.1 Unscrew and remove the three (3) Thumb Screws that are mounted
around the uncovered 4” Ø Inlet Port on the Faceplate, as shown in
Fig. 4.
Fig. (4) – Faceplate with Inlet Ports
5.6.2 The flange of the Inlet Tube has a three-hole cutout pattern, as shown
in Fig. 5. Align the cutouts on the flange with the three (3) Screw and
Washers that are pre-installed around the Inlet Port. Then press the
Inlet Tube flush against the Faceplate and rotate the Inlet Tube
counterclockwise to lock it in place.

V. Installation Instructions
5.7 Install Articulating Extraction Arm
The Extraction Arm is designed to be independently anchored to the ceiling
and connected to the Inlet Tube of the CMSC unit via a flex hose. The length
of this connection tube can be increased or decreased, as needed, to best
locate the Articulating Extraction Arm.
5.7.1 Locate the Mounting Flange with 22” Pipe Section and fit the pipe end
into one end of the Airflow T-Outlet, as shown in Fig. 6
Note: To customize the overall length of the vertical section of the
Articulating Extraction Arm, the 22” Pipe Section may be cut to reduce
the length between the Mounting Flange and the Airflow T-Outlet.
5.7.2 Drill (3) four small holes, using a 3/16” size drill bit, 120º apart around
the circumference of the pipe, where the pipe sections overlap.
5.7.3 Secure the Mounting Flange Pipe Section to the Airflow T-Outlet using
three (3) screws provided.

5.7.4 Fit one end of the 15” Pipe Section into the other end of the Airflow T-
Outlet, and drill three (3) small holes, using a 3/16” size drill bit, 120º
apart around the circumference of the pipe, where the pipe sections
overlap.

5.7.5 Install the Mounting Flange onto the support structure in the main
ceiling by using three (3) 3/8Ӯ bolts. Prior to installation, ensure that
the 5” Pipe Stub on the Airflow T-Outlet is pointing towards the Inlet
Tube of the CMSC unit.

connection by tightening the Hose Clamp, as shown in Fig. 9.
5.7.7 Connect the other end of the Flex Hose to the Inlet Tube, and secure the
connection by tightening the Hose Clamp, as shown in Fig. 9.
Note: It is recommended that the CMSC unit is mounted close to the
Articulating Extraction Arm, to enable a short piece of Flex Hose,
preferably not longer than a 4’, to be used for connection.
