identiCLASS® Reader Line

identiCLASS is a universal e-Government reader platform designed for integration
into OEM equipment, providing contact or contactless reading of electronic
documents.
The identiCLASS Developer Tool Kit contains three reader boards, the 3300 Reader
Core, 3500 Reader Board and 3700 Enhanced Reader Board. In addition, the kit
includes Antennas, Smart Card Adapters, interconnecting cables and sample media.

3300 Reader Core
The identiCLASS 3300 Reader Core
is a small board for space-restricted or
mobile devices using an external antenna.

3500 Reader Board
The identiCLASS 3500 Reader Board
is a large board with built-in antenna for
terminals. Included are required accessories
(such as cables, drivers and software).

3700 Enhanced Reader Board
The identiCLASS 3700 Enhanced Reader Board is
intended for use when the Antenna(s) are positioned
away from the reader.

Depending on the reader board, select the appropriate setup.
3300 Reader Core Setup
Connect the 3300 Reader Core to the ID3 Antenna. Then, connect the Smart Card
Adapter to the 3300 Reader Core. This layout provides a contact card and contactless
card reader. Optionally, mount an optical reader in the center of the ID3 Antenna.

Connect the 3500 Reader Board to the ID3 Large Antenna. This layout provides for two
antennas next to each other. Present a passport in either orientation with this layout.
Optionally, mount an optical reader in the center of the ID3 Antenna.

3700 Enhanced Reader Board
Connect the 3700 Enhanced Reader Board to the ID1 Enhanced Antenna. Then, connect
the Smart Card Adaptor to the 3700 Enhanced Reader Board.

Installing Drivers
1 Insert the USB Flash Drive and installation starts automatically. The drivers are
installed on your computer. If the installation does not start automatically, open
My Computer, navigate to the USB Flash Drive identiCLASS DTK and click
start.bat.
2 Connect the reader board to your computer using the provided USB cable.
3 Once the drivers are installed, verify the reader is operational using the
identiCLASS Software Conguration Tool.

The following is the standard default conguration settings for identiCLASS readers.

1 Start the Software Conguration Tool by double-clicking the identiCLASS icon
( ) on your desktop.
2 With the reader board connected through the USB port to the computer, the
Reader Information screen displays.
3 Present a sample card or passport to the reader. If the card or passport are
read, the Reader and Credentials screen displays Connected.

Flash Drive or Web site) for system conguration details.

The following illustrates reading an ePassport with the Golden Reader Tool (GRT).
1 Initiate the Golden Reader Tool by double-clicking the GRT Platinum Edition
icon from within the identiCLASS DTK folder on your desktop.
2 Click Card Reader Options. From the Reader Names drop-down list, select
HID identiCLASS CL 0. Selected is the identiCLASS reader contactless slot.
3 Place the passport over the reader, click Read. The following screen appears.

4 Enter the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) from the passport. The MRZ is
entered once and stored in memory. Click OK.
CAUTION: Enter the two-line MRZ carefully.
5 The secure data from the passport is read by identiCLASS and displayed.
Read time is approximately 5 to 7 seconds.
