Model Number –Smkwf
Short Description
Outstanding new WiFi Smoke Detector Spy Camera with 6-8 months battery standby. No
need for power or cables. Using our free Iphone or Android App, live view this camera from
anywhere in the world. Whenever the camera detects motion, it will silently record video &
audio to the concealed micro SD memory card in 720P or 1080P HD resolution. Please note
the wide angle 120 degree pinhole lens is a VERTICAL or downward view, not a sideway or
horizontal view so ideal for cash register surveillance, watching over a safe or any other area
deemed to be security or theft risk.
Description
This Wireless Smoke Detector Hidden Camera has a built in rechargable polymer battery
which can keep the camera fully functional for up to 6 months or more. Ideal to ceiling mount
but could be wall or side mounted if desired. Many of our customers use double sides tape or
velcro to mount the smoke alarm nanny cam but it does support a ceiling screw in bracket for
added security and peace of mind.
This unique hidden camera can also be powered if preferred. Hidden Camera Surveillance
(HCS) will provide it’s customers only at no extra cost, an Australian 5V USB power supply
and power charging lead to permanelty power the camera. In other words it supports both
battery and/or mains powering options.
Whenever the camera detects motion within 1-7m, it will discreetly record HD video & in sync
audio to the camera concealed micro SD memory card at 720P or 1080P HD resolution. Our
App also supports instant smart phone push notifications the moment motion is detected. With
motion alerts armed, simply click on your phone App to view the camera live, listen to audio
and remotely playback recordings from the the internal concealed SD memory card.
Unlike other hidden security spy cameras, this particular camera has built in No Glow invisible
IR so it can see and record even in total darkness. If not live viewing or recording, the WiFi
Smoke Alarm Spy Camera will enter into “sleep mode”to conserve battery power and will only
awaken during a live login or when motion is detected. It’s for this reason the battery capacity
has such a long operational time frame of 6 months in standby mode.
It’s also important to understand that should the camera be recording frequently at high
resolution with regular remote logins, frequent remote playback etc, naturally the battery
capacity will be used faster but it still has very long recording duation and operational time.

2
In live view mode, users will be able to see the camera battery charge capacity and therefore
know when its neceessary to recharge. This Smoke Detector WiFi Camera will even function
whilst charging.

What’s the difference between a DVR & WiFi Smoke Detector Spy Camera?
There is a fundamental difference between this WiFi Smoke Detector Hidden Spy camera spy
camera and a similar albeit cheaper DVR Smoke Detector spy camera. HCS has both camera
options but to briefly explain, a DVR type hidden camera is normally supplied with a mini
wireless push button remote control.
The remote control enables the camera to be switched on/off and stop/start recording but that’s
about it as far as functions are concerned. By comparison, the DVR Smoke Detector camera
has shorter recording memory duration and far less battery capacity. A DVR (Digital Video
Recorder) Smoke detector hidden Camera normally supports a maximum 32GB memory card
whereas our WiFi Smoke Detector Spy Camera supports up to 128GB and the resolution is
App adjustable. The DVR unit is cheaper but less features and functions.
Our DVR Smoke detector hidden cameras have the added advantage of a side on angled
horizontal view rather than a vertical view. Whilst this DVR camera has a small internal battery,
ideally its needs to be 5V powered so customers do need to find a power point which in some
instances can be annoying.
To view or playback DVR camera recordings, it’s necessary to remove the concealed SD card
frominsidethe camera and replay those video clips ona PC or MAC. TheWiFi Smoke detector
hidden camera on the other hand supports anywhere from 16GB to 128GB Micro SD card so
not only is the recording capacity significantly higher than any DVR hidden camera, but the
built-in lithium rechargeable battery can keep the camera functional for up to 6 months on one
charge.
A WiFi Hidden Camera such as this is significantly more advanced in terms of features and
functions so there’s no need for a remote control as your phone is the remote control if that
makes sense.
The dummy WiFi Smoke detector hidden camera requires the authorised user to download a
free App. The App supports both Iphone, Android and PC. Users may view the camera live
from anywhere and/or share with other authorised users.

Tell me more
Our WiFi Smoke detector hidden camera has a range of recording options including Scheduled
recording, Constant Recording & Motion Detection recording. When motion is detected, the
camera will instantly record day or night in packets of 30-60 seconds called events.
With WiFi mobile phone camera access, users may live view camera video and audio linked
directly to their smart phone app. In other words, you see and hear what the camera can see
and hear. Depending on network upload and download speed, video and audio can be slow,
or even drop out at times. This isn’t a camera fault as the same applies to most wireless
devices, including mobile phones.
For that reason, if using an optional Class 10 SD memory card, the camera will record audio
and video in real time regardless of network speed. To view the actual SD card recording in
real time, sometimes (depending on network speed) it may be necessary to remotely download
the desired video clip/s directly to your phone and save that recording and that’s the key to real
time playback.
An SD card isn’t essential, but users can only view or record to mobile phone memory when
that phone is in an active live viewing camera mode. If not live viewing, then one cannot record
to a phone, so the SD card is the recording backup. With an SD card slotted into the camera,
regardless of any network connection, it will record anytime regardless of any network.
Other Camera App functions include;
•Scheduled recording meaning the camera can be set to record etc at pre-set times.
•Motion detection recording mode
•Constant recording mode
•Receive motion alerts when the camera is in WiFi mode.
•Audio on/off
•Unique Username and password protection
•Scene switching mode from Half screen to Full screen mode
•Take Screenshots
•Adjusting image quality
•Video Flip
•Switch the camera on/off
•SD memory card remote playback and download
•Auto recycle recording when SD card is full
Please note this Smoke Detector with Camera WiFi is NOT a functional smoke alarm. This is
dummy smoke detector casing with a polymer battery, HD pinhole camera and WiFi module
built into a real smoke detector case only. Therefore, it should not be used to replace of an
existing functional smoke detector.

tinyand virtually undetectable pinhole cameralens. If ceiling mounting thecamera, the camera
lens will be looking vertically down at a very wide 120-degree angle. Ideal for monitoring a
safe or cash register etc

camera permanently.

How does motion detection recording work?
The App allows for an authorised user (camera access can be shared if required) to SELECT
motion detection on or off. If this feature is armed, then each time the camera detects motion
up 6m away, it will record in real time to internal SD card memory from 5-60 seconds non-stop
including audio. This is commonly referred to as an ALERT recording. It also allows for the
user to search recordings by App calendar time and date or by Alerts.
If motion continues beyond 60 seconds, the Smoke Detector Hidden Camera will continue to
record in 30 or 60 second increments until motion ceases.
Furthermore, with phone notifications on and the camera in WiFi mode, user/s can receive
mobile phone motion triggered push alerts. By clicking on the alert, playback that particular
recording without the need to search.
If Constant Recording is enabled or preferred over motion detection, the device will constantly
record when armed and stop recording when disarmed. It can also be scheduled to start and
stop recording and pre-defined times. The downside to constant recording is remote playback.
A constant recording is a much larger data file so locally or remotely downloading that file could
be difficult. To view constant recording files, best to switch the camera off, remove the SD
card and connect it into PC USB using an SD card reader.

7
WiFi remote access how does it work?
The App settings refer to WiFi setup and HCS will supply our customers only with a detailed
instruction manual including screen shots demonstrating how most camera functions work.
Each camera is supplied with standard instructions, but Hidden Camera Surveillance offers its
customers a personally drafted user manual including actual screen shots for a much easier
setup experience.
To use the WiFi access function, the camera must be within range of a WiFi network and the
authorised user must know the WiFi router password. The router is to be set to 2.4Ghz
frequency as cameras of this nature do NOT support the 5Ghz range. Often when looking at
phone WiFi settings, the router may provide for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz so select 2.4Ghz. If
not, then do ensure the wireless router is set to 2.4Ghz frequency.
The Free mobile phone App will prompt you to select your router and then ask you to enter
your WiFi network password. Input that password and save. The WiFi Smoke Detector Hidden
Camera will reboot which takes a minute or two so the next time the authorised user logs in
with the App, it will be a live view access in WiFi mode. Once set the authorised user could
potentially be anywhere in the world perhaps in another WiFi zone or simply logging in via the
3/4G mobile network.
The smoke alarm spy camera must stay in wireless WiFi range of the router and with a decent
signal strength. If the camera is moved away from router range, the network will drop out.
It’s important to understand that remote network login can be slow resulting in staggered
viewing access or slow playback due to network speed. In remote recording playback mode,
again if the network is slow, this can take time and on occasions may drop out altogether
meaning logging in again.
Please note this is NOT a camera fault. It’s common using remote network access but rest
assured, if using a camera SD card, the device itself has recorded in real time so nothing is
lost. One can always come back to the memory card and replay on PC or MAC. The other
option is to download any desired recording to your phone or PC and once downloaded, the
playback will be in real time and saved.
Can I place the Spy Smoke Detector camera in a non WiFi location?
If you prefer to relocate the camera to another area which has NO WiFi signal, yes that’s not
a problem. It’s important to initially setup the camera in a WiFi zome because all smoke
detector spy camera settings, including motion detection etc, are all App controlled.
Once the camera settings are saved and you’re sure it’s recording upon motion well (test it
first) DO NOT switch the Smoke Detector Spy Camera off. Leave the camera on and relocate
to another non-WiFi location. Should you switch the camera off, it will lose those memory
settings. Of course, from that point forward if the camera is moved away from WiFi, the App
will be of no further use and you won’t have any further remote camera access. The camera
will on the other hand record to the internal memory card upon detecting motion, so recordings
can be replayed on PC after the SD card is removed.
If the camera is returned to its original password WiFi zone, remote camera access ought to
be available.
Can other people see the Smoke Detector Hidden Camera?
It’s a question often asked and rightly so. In short, the answer is no. When entering a shop,
home or office, often your phone will depict a range of wireless routers. Other than your
personal router, all others are private and can’t be accessed for security reasons obviously,
hence the password access.
In this regard, when thecamera is switched on, after a minuteor so, you willsee a UID number
appear in the mobile phone WiFi settings. The UID does NOT refer to a camera or anything

8
of that nature. It’s simply a series of letters and numbers which doesn’t mean anything to
anyone who happens to see the UID.
For example, the UID would look similar to YiEye-27593t49. To any other person who just
happens to see it, for all intents and purposes the UID number could belong to a neighbour’s
router or anyone but clicking on the UID won’t do anything for an unauthorised person. The
authorised user requires the correct App, username and password etc so it won’t arouse
suspicion not allow remote access to anyone unauthorised.
