1.2 IR Remote Control Operations
The NVR may also be controlled w th the ncluded IR Remote control.
NOTE: Batter es (2 × AAA) must be nstalled before operat on.
The IR Remote s set at the factory to control the NVR (us ng default Dev ce ID# 255) w thout any add t onal
steps. Dev ce ID# 255 s the default un versal dev ce dent f cat on number shared by the NVRs. You may
also pa r an IR Remote to a spec f c NVR by chang ng the Dev ce ID#, as follows:
1.2.1 Pairing (Enabling) t e IR Remote to a Specific NVR (optional)
You can pa r an IR Remote to a NVR by creat ng a user-def ned Dev ce ID#. Th s feature s useful when
us ng mult ple IR Remotes and NVRs.
On the NVR:
1. Go to General > More Settings.

2. Type a number (255 d g ts max mum) nto the Dev ce No. f eld.
3. On the IR Remote:
4. Press the DEV button.
5. Use the Number buttons to enter the Dev ce ID# that was entered nto the NVR.
6. Press Enter button to accept the new Dev ce ID#.

1.2.2 Unpairing (Disabling) an IR Remote from an NVR
To unpa r an IR Remote from a NVR so that the un t cannot control any NVR funct ons, proceed as follows:
Press the DEV key on the IR Remote. Any ex st ng Dev ce ID# w ll be erased from the un t’s memory and t
w ll no longer funct on w th the NVR.
NOTE: (Re)-enabl ng the IR Remote requ res pa r ng to a NVR. See “Pa r ng the IR Remote to a
Spec f c NVR (opt onal),” above.
The keys on the remote control closely resemble the ones on the front panel.

Troubles ooting Remote Control
Make sure you have nstalled batter es properly n the remote control, and you have to a m the remote
control at the IR rece ver n the front panel.
If there s no response after you press any button on the remote, follow the procedure below to
troubleshoot.

1. Go to Menu > Settings > General > More Settings by operat ng the front control panel or the mouse.
2. Check and remember NVR ID#. The default ID# s 255. Th s ID# s val d for all the IR Remote controls.
3. Press the DEV button on the remote control.
4. Enter the NVR ID# you set n step 2.
5. Press the ENTER button on the remote.
NOTE: If the Status nd cator on the front panel turns blue, the remote control s operat ng
properly. If the Status nd cator does not turn blue and there s st ll no response from the
remote, please check the follow ng:
•Batter es are nstalled correctly and the polar t es of the batter es are not reversed.
•Batter es are fresh and not out of charge.
•IR rece ver s not obstructed.
•No fluorescent lamp s used nearby
•If the remote st ll can’t funct on properly, change the remote and try aga n, or
contact the dev ce prov der.
1.3 USB Mouse Operation
A regular 3-button (Left/R ght/Scroll-wheel) USB mouse can also be used w th th s NVR. To use a USB
mouse:
1. Plug USB mouse nto one of the USB nterfaces on the front panel of the NVR.
2. The mouse should automat cally be detected. If the mouse s not detected, the poss ble reason may
be that the two dev ces are not compat ble, refer to the recommended dev ce l st from your prov der.

C apter 2 Getting Started
2.1 Device Startup and Activation
2.1.1 Starting Up and S utting Down t e NVR
Purpose
Proper startup and shutdown procedures are cruc al to expand ng the l fe of the NVR.
Before You Start
Check that the voltage of the external power supply s the same w th the NVR’s requ rement and the
ground connect on s work ng properly.
Starting up t e NVR
1. Check that the power supply s plugged nto an electr cal outlet. It s h ghly recommended that an
Un nterrupt ble Power Supply (UPS) be used n conjunct on w th the dev ce. The Power nd cator LED on
the front panel should be red, nd cat ng the dev ce gets the power supply.
2. Press the Power button on the front panel. The Power nd cator LED should turn blue, nd cat ng that
the un t s start ng.
3. After startup, the Power nd cator LED rema ns blue. A splash screen w th the status of the HDD
appears on the mon tor. The row of cons at the bottom of the screen shows the HDD status. ‘X’ means
that the HDD s not nstalled or cannot be detected.
S utting Down t e NVR
There are two proper ways to shut down the NVR.
•OPTION 1: Standard S utdown
1. Enter the Shutdown menu, Menu > S utdown.

•OPTION 2: By Operating t e Front Panel
1. Press and hold the Power button on the front panel for three seconds.

2. Enter the adm n strator’s username and password n the d alog box for authent cat on.
3. Cl ck the Yes button.
NOTE: Do not press the Power button aga n when the system s shutt ng down.
Rebooting t e NVR
In the Shutdown menu, you can also reboot the NVR.
1. Enter the Shutdown menu by cl ck ng Menu > S utdown.
2. Cl ck the Logout button to lock the NVR or the Reboot button to reboot the NVR.
2.1.2 Activating Your Device
Purpose
For the f rst-t me access, you need to act vate the dev ce by sett ng an adm n password. No operat on s
allowed before act vat on. You can also act vate the dev ce v a Web Browser, SADP software, or Cl ent
software.
1. Input the same password n the text f eld of Create New Password and Confirm New Password.

STRONG PASSWORD RECOMMENDED − We h ghly recommend that you create a strong password
of your own choos ng (us ng a m n mum of e ght characters, nclud ng at least three of the
follow ng categor es: upper case letters, lower case letters, numbers, and spec al
characters) n order to ncrease the secur ty of your product. We also recommend that you
reset your password regularly. Espec ally n h gh secur ty systems, resett ng the password
monthly or weekly can better protect your product.
