YOUR NEW HITACHI COLOUR DISPLAY MONITOR
Your new HITACHI colour Display Monitor incorporates ahost of features
designed to give you excellent performance if you follow the instructions in
this guide.
WARNING:
TO PREVENT FIRE OR SHOCK HAZARD, DO NOT EXPOSE THIS
DISPLAY MONITOR TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.
THIS COLOUR DISPLAY MONITOR IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE ON
220/240V, 50Hz ONLY.
NOTE
■This colour display monitor requires athree-wire grounding type power cord
set. The power cord set will only fit into asafety grounded power outlet.
DO NOT defeat the safety purpose of the grounding type power cord set.
■When the power cord set or plugs are damaged or frayed, replace with anew
one of the same type.
■DO NOT overload wall outlet and extension cord as this can result in fire or
electric shock.

INTRODUCTION
The HITACHI Auto 480 (CM1474AE) is ahigh
compatible with IBM Personal System/2 computer resolution colour display monitor
models 30, 50, 60 and 80.
■High resolution display of 720 dots by 480 lines available from IBM Personal System/2.
=The Auto 480 adjusts automatically to 350 lines 70Hz refresh, 400 line 70Hz refresh
and 480 lines 60Hz refrmh video signal from Personal System/2.
■Ergonomically designed cabinet with built-in tilt and swivel base.
■1.8 m(6 feet) signal cable comes out of the base to provide easier desk top layout.

Cautions when using Auto 480
WARNINGS
NEVER REMOVE THE BACK COVER
Removal of the back cover shall be done only by qualified personnel.
Inside of this display monitor contains high voltage.
USE CORRECT VOLTAGE
Use only 220/240 volts, 50Hz power line with safety grounded outlet only. Extremely
high or low power voltage may cause trouble or may not give optimum performance.
DO NOT USE AT WRONG PLACE
To prevent shock or fire hazard, DO NOT expose the Auto 480 display monitor to rain
or moisture.
This unit is designed to be used in offices or homes. DO NOT subject the unit to vibra-
tions, dust or corrosive gases.
KEEP IN AWELL VENTILATED PLACE
Ventilation holes are provided on the cabinet to prevent the temperature from rising.
DO NOT cover the unit or place anything on top of the unit.
AVOID HEAT
Avoid placing the unit in direct sunshine or near heating appliance.
BE CAREFUL OF MAGNETIC FIELDS
Do not place amagnet, speaker system, printer, floppy disc drive or anything which will
generate magnetism near the unit. Amagnetic field may cause blurred colours or distor-
tion of the displayed pattern.

HOW TO USE Auto480
Signal cable for IBM Personal System/2 or Equivalents is fixed to the monitor base.
Connect the signal cable to the IBM Personal System/2 video output 15-pin connector.
