6aquapoint

The aquapoint is intended for humidifying the therapy air flow
which is supplied to the patient.
The aquapoint may only be used in combination with point devi-
ces prescribed for treating an obstructive sleep apnea syndrome
(OSAS) in patients with a weight of 30 kg and higher.
The water in the aquapoint must not contain any additives, such
as drugs, salts, aromatic oils, or other substances.
Intended Use 03.

aquapoint

The aquapoint is a plug-in warm-air humidifier for the respiratory
therapy device point.
It is intended to humidify the therapy air flow, in order to prevent
the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract from beco-
ming dry.
The heater output can be adjusted in stages from 0 to 5, as requi-
red by the patient’s individual demands.
The aquapoint is provided with an integrated memory ensuring
that the previously set heater stage will be preserved after the the-
rapy device has been turned off or the humidifier has been dis-
connected from the therapy device.

Before the aquapoint can be put into operation, the respiratory
therapy device point must be modified (only once). To do this,
please carefully follow the modification steps described below.
a. Remove the blank plate from the bottom side of the point
by pressing the tabs towards the middle and lifting the
blank plate with a small screwdriver.
b. Connect the flat push-on connector (behind the blank pla-
te) to the control electronics , ensuring proper coding of the
connector.
c. Insert the unit in the therapy device until you hear it clicking
into place.
d. Pull off the plastic ring from the device.
e. Push the sealing ring entirely onto the air outlet. To do this,
turn the plastic ring around.
f. Attach the locking mechanism to the air outlet by pushing the
locking mechanism (with its grip pointing up) onto the air outlet
and then turning it anti-clockwise 90° towards the device
under slight pressure (exerted by the sealing ring).
Keep the plastic ring and the blank plate for possible re-installati-
on to the point.

aquapoint

Before being used for the first time, the aquapoint should be tho-
rougly rinsed with water.
Do this as described on page 16 (section Cleaning).
While being filled, the aquapoint must be disconnected from the
respiratory therapy device.
Open the humidifier by turning the closing cap in anti-clockwise
direction and removing it from the water container (see illustration
on page 16). Remove the air guide.
Only fill the aquapoint with cold distilled water or cold sour water
that has been boiled. The water in the humidifier must not contain
any additives.
Fill in the water only up to the specified maximum filling level.
Refit the air guide. Close the water container by placing the clo-
sing cap onto the water container and turning it in clockwise
direction until it stops.
Once it is filled, the humidifier must not be turned sidewards or
turned around any longer. When connecting the humidifier to your
respiratory therapy device, please observe the following instructi-
ons:

• Apply the contact pins and the air inlet of the humidifier to the
therapy device without twisting or tilting
• The unlocking lever must click into place audibly
The heater output of the aquapoint can be selected in 6 stages
from 0 ... 5. Whenever you press the key, the heater output is
increased by one stage until it reaches stage 5; it will then restart
at stage 0. The set heater stage is indicated by an LED. The
water is heated only while the blower is running.
CAUTION!
Avoid putting the blower into operation while the humidifier is
filled and the therapy tubing is not connected since, otherwise,
water drops will be entrained in the air flow. For that reason,
only put the humidifier into operation when the therapy tubing
is fitted properly.

Please carefully follow the hygiene and cleaning instructions in
order to preserve your health and to avoid disturbances and failu-
res.
Any further maintenance of the aquapoint is not necessary.
Regularly clean the humidifier each day to prevent deposition of
residual lime which can be removed only difficultly.
After having turned the unlocking mechanism, disconnect the
aquapoint from the respiratory therapy device and take it to a
sink. Open the humidifier by turning the closing cap in anti-clock-
wise direction and removing it from the water container. Remove
the air guide (see illustration).
Cleaning
09.
16 aquapoint

Empty the water container and rinse it under running water.
Remove any residual lime by wiping the water container out with
a soft cloth.
Important!
Do not use any sharp-edged or pointed objects for cleaning
the humidifier.
To remove obstinate lime deposits, if any, we recommend that
you use a common household scale remover or a weak vinegar
solution. Fill the scale remover or the vinegar solution into the
water container and let it stand for a while. Subsequently, tho-
roughly and carefully rinse the container under running water.
Cleaning 09.
17
aquapoint

Clean the closing cap including air outlet and air guide by simply
rinsing it under running clear water. Do this every day after having
used the humidifier.
It is not necessary to disinfect the humidifier chemically or ther-
mally.
