TILT STEERING AND HORN
Tilt steering
The lock lever is located directly beneath
the ignition lock.
Move the lock lever downwards.
Grasp the steering wheel and move as
required. It can be moved up or down.
Wheninposition,movethelockleverback
up as far as it will go. 'Jiggle' the steering
wheel to ensure it has locked securely
before driving.
WARNING:
Aswithalltheotherdriverposition
controls,donotattempttoadjust
the steering wheel while driving.
Horn
The horn is activated by pressing the j
light, on either side of the steering wheel.

Note: Due to differences between models, your vehicle may not feature all of the
warning / reminder lights illustrated.
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates vehicle speed in kilometres per hour.
Tachometer
The tachometer shows engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Operation in the
red zone may cause serious engine damage.
Odometer / service reminder / tripmeter
Asmallwindow inthespeedometer isusedfor theodometer,the servicereminderand
the tripmeter. When the ignition is off, you can view the odometer and the tripmeter for
a few seconds by pressing the reset knob. The odometer records kilometres travelled
since the vehicle was built.
Theservicereminderdisplays'InSP'fora
few seconds when the engine is started if
thevehicle is within 500 kmor oneweek of
the next service. Refer to Chapter 12.
The tripmeter (above the odometer)
recordskilometrestravelledonaparticular
trip. To zero the reading, press the reset
knob while the ignition is on.
Gear indicator / Transmission mode indicator / Starting-off aid (if fitted)
These features relate to the operation of the automatic transmission. Refer to
Chapter 4.

Engine temperature gauge
The temperature gauge indicates the
engine coolant temperature.
If the pointer is to the left of the 80 mark,
the engine is not yet at operating
temperature.
If the pointer is between the 80 mark and
the 100 mark, the engine is at normal
operating temperature.
If the pointer moves to the right of the
100 mark for more than 30 seconds, the
engine temperature is too high.
If this occurs, stop the vehicle as soon as
it is safe to do so. Refer to Chapter 6,
Engine Overheating.
Fuel gauge
RefertoChapter8forthefueltankcapacity.
Add fuel to the tank when the gauge
indicates low fuel or when Y illuminates.
If the pointer moves into the red zone or Y
flashes, add fuel to the tank immediately.
Refer to Chapter 5.
Note: Never let the tank become empty;
this can cause damage to the exhaust
system components.
Instrument lighting
When the parking lights or headlights are
switched on, adjust the instrument
brightness by turning the thumb wheel
located on the lower right-hand side of the
headlight switch.

Sports / economy drive (automatic transmission)
Illuminatesforafewsecondswhentheignitionisswitchedonandwhen 'Sports
Drive' is selected. Transmission then shifts at higher engine speeds. Refer to
Chapter 4.
Check engine and automatic transmission fault
Your vehicle is fitted with an Electronic Engine Management System. This light
illuminateswhentheignitionisswitchedonandgoesoffshortlyaftertheengine
starts to run.
If it illuminates when driving, a fault has occurred in the transmission or service
to the Engine Management System may be required. Stop the vehicle, switch
theengine off and restart. Ifthe lightcontinues to flash, manually changegears
using the shift lever and consult a Holden Retailer.
Although the vehicle may still be drivable and not require towing, see a Holden
Retailer as soon as possible. Continued driving could affect fuel consumption,
engine performance or may damage the catalytic converter.
If the light flashes and the engine cannot be started, turn the ignition off for at
least 2 seconds before attempting to start the engine again.
Battery
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on. Extinguishes when the engine is
started and the engine speed is increased above idle speed.
If it illuminates when driving, the battery is not being charged properly (engine
cooling may also be affected). Consult a Holden Retailer as soon as possible.
Brakes, hydraulic clutch
Illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. It will extinguish
after a few seconds unless the park brake is applied or the brake / clutch fluid
levels are low.
If it lights during driving and the park brake is not applied, you should stop the
vehicle as soon as possible and consult a Holden Retailer.
Emissions
Your vehicle is fitted with an emission monitoring system. The emission
warning light indicates when system service is required. The light illuminates
when the ignition is switched on and goes off shortly after the engine starts to
run.
If the light illuminates when driving, service to the emission system may be
required. Although the vehicle may still be driveable and not require towing,
consult a Holden Retailer as soon as possible.
However, if the light flashes while driving, reduce speed until the light stops
flashing and consult a Holden Retailer as soon as possible.
Low fuel
Illuminates when the fuel gauge enters the red zone (earlier when driving
around corners). If the light flashes, add fuel immediately.

Starting-off aid (automatic transmission)
Illuminates when the starting-off aid is switched on. Refer to Chapter 4.
Oil pressure
Illuminates when ignition is switched on and goes off after the engine is
started. It can light up intermittently when idling if engine is hot, but must go
out when engine speed is increased. If the light illuminates when driving, stop
the vehicle immediately and switch off the engine. Check the engine oil level.
Refer to Chapter 7. Do not drive with this light illuminated. If the oil level is
normal, have the system checked at the nearest Holden Retailer.
Rear fog lights
Illuminates when the rear fog lights are switched on.
High beam
Illuminates when the high beam headlights are in use or are flashed.
Left and right turn signal indicators
The respective arrow (left or right) flashes when the turn signal lights are in
use. If the light flashes rapidly, a turn signal bulb may have failed.
Seat belt
Thiswarninglightilluminatesforashort time whentheignitionisfirstswitched
on. This warning is designed to remind occupants to fasten their seat belts.
Airbag and seat belt pretensioners
Illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. If it does not
extinguish or if it illuminates when driving, there is a defect in the airbag / seat
belt pretensioner system. They may not function correctly, especially in an
accident. Consult a Holden Retailer as soon as possible.
Electronic power steering (EPS)
The EPS light remains illuminated when the ignition is switched on and goes
offaftertheengineisstarted.Ifitilluminateswhendriving,afaulthasoccurred
intheEPSsystem.Youmaycontinuetodrivebutgreatereffortwillberequired
to turn the steering wheel. Consult the nearest Holden Retailer.
Anti-lock braking system (ABS) (if fitted)
The ABS light illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on.
Ifitdoesnot go outorifitcomes on duringdriving,thereis a defectintheABS.
The brake system is operational but without ABS assistance. You should
consult a Holden Retailer as soon as possible.

WIPERS AND WASHERS
Windscreen wipers
Move the lever upwards.
Fast
Slow
Intermittent
O Off
Tosettheintermittentwipeintervalbetween
2 and 15 seconds:
1. Set the lever to intermittent.
2. Set the lever to off.
3. Wait for the number of seconds interval
you wish to set.
4. Set the lever back to intermittent.
The selected intermittent interval is stored until it is changed again or until the ignition
is switched off. When the ignition is switched on, the interval is preset to 7 seconds.
Windscreen washer
Never operate the wipers on dry glass as
this can damage the rubber wiper blades.
Tospray washer fluid onto the windscreen
pullthe levertoward you.At the same time
thewipersareoperatedforseveralsweeps.
Rear wiper and washer (if fitted)
Push the lever away from you to the first
position to turn on the rear wiper. To turn
on the rear washer, push the lever further
and hold as long as required.
When the lever is in the first position, the
rear wiper operates at an intermittent
speed.
