SAFETY INFORMATION
Please read this manual carefully before
use and keep it for future reference. The
manufacturer declines any liability for damage
caused by improper use or failure to follow
the instructions in this manual. Improper use
or non-compliance with the instructions will
void the warranty.
1. This appliance is not intended for use by children. Keep the appliance
and its power cord out of the reach of children.
2. This appliance is intended for use by persons with reduced physical,
sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge,
provided they have been given supervision or instruction concerning
use of the appliance in a safe manner and understand the potential
hazards.
3. Children must not play with the device.
4. Cleaning and user maintenance must not be done by children.
5. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer,
its service agent or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid
a dangerous situation.
6. WARNING: Improper use may cause severe injury.
7. Always unplug the appliance if it is left unattended and before assembly,
disassembly or cleaning.
8. This appliance is designed for home use in sharpening knives. Do not
use it for any purpose other than that for which it is intended. Do not
use it for commericial and laboratory purposes. Do not use it outdoors.
9. Before plugging the appliance into the mains, check that the voltage
indicated on the rating plate matches the voltage in your socket.
10. Only connect the appliance to properly grounded mains sockets. Do
not use adapters or extension cords.
11. To avoid electrocution, do not immerse the appliance, its power cord or
plug in water or other liquids.
12. When turning off the appliance, rst set the power switch to 0 (off), then
unplug from the mains. Never turn the appliance off by only unplugging
from the mains.
13. When unplugging the appliance, pull on the plug, not on the power
cord. Pulling on the cord may damage it or the socket.
14. The socket should remain accessible to allow easy unplugging later on.
15. Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table or worktop.
16. Make sure the power cord does not touch a hot surface (e.g. cooking
top).
17. Route the power cord so as to prevent tripping. Tripping on the power
cord might additionally tip the appliance over or send it ying while
powered on, potentially causing severe injury.
18. Do not use the appliance near water (e.g. sink). Keep water away from
the appliance.

19. Do not use the appliance in a wet or dusty environment. Do not use
open ame or other ignition sources, or explosives, ammables or
volatiles, near the appliance.
20. Always set the appliance on a dry, level, rm surface. Provide adequate
clearance around the appliance.
21. Do not set the appliance on hot surfaces (e.g. cooking top, stove, etc.)
or near heat sources.
22. To avoid potentially severe injury, do not touch the whetstones. Keep
ngers, hands, hair, loose clothing, jewelry etc. at a safe distance from
the whetstones, particularly while the appliance is running.
23. WARNING: Knife blades can be very sharp, and present a risk of severe
injury when handled improperly.
24. WARNING: Never insert the knife blade into the appliance point-rst.
Contact of the point with the moving whetstones may cause the blade
to recoil, potentially damaging the appliance or injuring the operator.
25. If the appliance overheats during use, set the power switch to 0 (off),
then unplug the appliance and let it cool down before further use.
26. Do not modify the appliance or change its technical specications in
any way.
27. If the appliance does not work as advertised and / or it or its power
cord appear damaged, set the power switch to 0 (off), then unplug the
appliance. Then contact an authorized service center for repair. Never
repair the appliance yourself. It does not contain any parts that the user
can x himself.

USE
Before First Use
Unpack the appliance. Before disposing of the packaging, be sure to
remove all components. Check for damage.
Wipe the outside of the appliance with a soft sponge slightly moistened
with warm water.
Intended Use
This sharpener is designed for thin-bladed knives, such as carbon and
stainless steel kitchen knives.
Do not use it for hunting, serrated, ceramic or power knives, scissors or
any blades that will not t in the whetstone shroud apertures.
Sharpening
The appliance features two-stage sharpening, consisting of rough
whetting (stage 1) and ne whetting and polish (stage 2).
Stage 1
Stage 1 removes notches and warp from the blade.
Stage 2
Stage 2 produces a sharp, precise edge.
Procedure
1. Set the appliance on a dry, clean, rm surface such as a table or worktop.
2. Wipe the blade to be sharpened with a clean cloth. Only sharpen dry, clean
blades.
Warning: Always make sure blades are clean and dry before sharpening.
3. Slide the blade through all apertures while the appliance is off, to nd
points of contact with the whetstones.
4. Plug the power cord into a properly grounded mains outlet.
5. Set the power switch to I (on) to power on the appliance.
Warning: Always power on the appliance before inserting the blade.
Inserting blades into a running appliance may damage it or the
blade or severely injure the operator.

6. Hold the appliance with one hand; hold the knife in the other.
7. Insert the blade into the left rough whetting (stage 1) aperture, starting with
the handle-side end. Then slowly pull the knife towards you. Do not press
down too hard on the knife. Pressure should be moderate and constant.
Keep the blade in contact with the whetstones throughout the sharpening
process.
8. Insert the blade into the right rough whetting (stage 1) aperture, starting
with the handle-side end. Then slowly pull the knife towards you.
9. Repeat steps 8 and 9 several times for an even, solid edge. Each pass of
the blade through the whetstones should take 5 to 10 seconds, depending
on blade length.
Warning: Never insert a blade point-rst. Doing so may damage it or the
appliance or severely injure the operator.
10. Now insert the blade into the left ne whetting (stage 2) aperture, starting
with the handle-side end. Then slowly pull the knife towards you. Repeat
with the right aperture.
11. Check the edge and repeat steps 8 through 11 as needed. Cut some soft
food or a piece of paper to check the edge. The edge is sharp if using the
knife requires minimal pressure.
Warning: To avoid potentially severe injury, do not check the edge with
a nger.
Note: When sharpening carbon steel knives, sparks may occasionally y
off the blade. This is normal to an extent, but if there seem to be
too many sparks, turn off and unplug the appliance.
Note: Pressing down excessively on the knife when sharpening may
actually dull the blade. If that occurs, restart the sharpening
process from the beginning, using less pressure.
12. Once done, turn off the appliance by setting the power switch to 0 (off) and
unplug it from the mains.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Always switch off the appliance, unplug it from the mains and let it cool
down completely before any cleaning or maintenance.
Warning: Never immerse the appliance, the power cord or the plug in
water or other liquids.
Do not use plastic or metal scrapers, harsh cleaners, chemicals, petrol,
solvents, or other similar substances to clean any parts of the appliance.
The surface nish could be seriously damaged.
Wipe the appliance exterior with a soft cloth slightly wet with warm water.
Wipe with dry dish towel.

Storage
Make sure the appliance is clean before storing it. Keep it in a dry and
well-ventilated place out of the reach of children or pets. Do not place
any objects on top of it.

Servicetechniker oder einer ähnlich qualizierten Person ersetzt werden,
um eine gefährliche Situation zu vermeiden.
6. WARNUNG: Bei unsachgemäßer Verwendung besteht die Gefahr einer
schweren Verletzung.
7. Trennen Sie das Gerät immer vom Netz, wenn es unbeaufsichtigt ist
und bevor Sie es montieren, demontieren oder reinigen.
8. Dieses Gerät ist für das Schleifen von Messerklingen im Haushalt
vorgesehen. Verwenden Sie es nicht für andere Zwecke als die, für die
es bestimmt ist. Verwenden Sie es nicht für kommerzielle Zwecke oder

9. Vergewissern Sie sich vor dem Einstecken des Steckers in die
Steckdose, dass die auf dem Geräteschild angegebene Spannung mit
der Spannung in Ihrer Steckdose übereinstimmt.
10. Stecken Sie den Netzstecker nur in eine ordnungsgemäß geerdete
Steckdose. Benutzen Sie keine Adapter oder Verlängerungskabel.
11. Um das Risiko eines Stromschlags zu vermeiden, tauchen Sie das
Gerät, das Netzkabel oder den Stecker nicht in Wasser oder andere
Flüssigkeiten.
12. Schalten Sie das Gerät aus, indem Sie den Schalter in die Position 0
(aus) versetzen und dann den Stecker des Netzkabels aus der Steckdose
ziehen. Schalten Sie das Gerät niemals aus, indem Sie den Netzstecker
aus der Steckdose ziehen.
